Meth has devastated Iowa, that's for sure. No thanks to Lori Arnold:

http://www.thefix.com/content/how-americas-meth-queen-melted-down?page=all

My own personal theory is that meth does not make people do things they never dreamed of, it just lowers their inhibitions so that they do things they always wanted to do.

My sense is that Lyric was protected from most of this by the fact that first the Collinses and then her grandmother took over legal guardianship and custody of her.

GrainneDhu, thanx for sharing...very significant in the increase in the silent epidemic of missing/murdered persons in Iowa, and beyond.. Many, if not most missing/murdered persons cases have a direct or indirect link to methamphetamine, imo.

(snipped from article)
In his best-selling Methland: The Death and Life of an American Small Town, author Nick Reding described Arnold as a shrewd, sociopathic operator, “able to weave together…various political, sociological and chemical threads into the Midwest’s first and last bona fide crank empire.” According to Reding, “With [Arnold], the very concept of industrialized meth in rural places like Iowa was born.

Sorry, just some random questions.

Are trees ever cut down in that area, for example "Xmas' trees?
Do teens "zip-line" there?
Do any of the "Hobos" from the annual convention remain behind?
When I think of someone taking something/someone that is not their own, I think of thieves, perv. or not, who are all the neighbourhood thieves?

Just going from the photos, local info, the lack of upkeep and maintenance by DNR for the las several years

I think no to both questions.

Here's the article about ‘awareness space’. Not sure if this is the article that you were referring to?.

Thanks for the link. Would that mean that the perp lives somewhere in this general area?

Why is it hard to believe that the killer carried the bodies in? Why an ATV, horse, pig, tractor?

I think he very likely either had them walk to that area, or carried them to the area from the nearby parking place (where police cars were also parked). I can't see anyone driving an ATV down the dead end 270 Street with two bodies, and I can't see any reason to drive an ATV to the location in order to transport two bodies a couple of hundred feet ... especially since the person that did this wouldn't want to spend any more time than necessary to hide two bodies.

Your map is wonderful Otto, but there is no reason why it can't go farther south past the interstate. Like 6 miles.

I was thinking somethng very odd........
stranger killers like Siggs, don't care about the bodies of the deceased.
But somehow, this perp didn't destroy the bodies?
didn't put them in the river.
If the girls were killed on day 1, the perp kept them preserved.
If the girls lived til later, they had to be fed etc,
I am thinking more and more that this perp(s)
knew the girls..............JMOO

It doesn't look like a couple of hundred feet to me. It looks more like a quarter of a mile. If it's a couple hundred feet, then yes, he could have carried them that far.

True. Is there anything that we know about that is 6 miles South?

I rule out the atv and everything else other than simply parking a vehicle and carrying then in. Easy yet sleazy.

My mouth is full of toast, can't speak, sorry.

Even if it's a 1/4 mile, so what, he is carrying small bodies, this means he is a big man.

We need to know when and where the girls were murdered and how.
til LE says something we have so little to sleuth for a killer.

I hope he indeed carried them in, maybe forensics can get fiber transfer from his clothing.

or 2, but when there is 2 there is no secret..........someone could break the secret under pressure ...........murder the other?
unless husband and wife or brothers?
