"investgative evidence"??????? I stated "information"!

LE releasing a statement that this is an actual "murder" investigation would be a start to release to the public. By no means is it giving a COD, which I believe won't be released until trial or a suspect is apprehended and charged, but it gives some sense of direction to the community. Another would be whether or not the community needs to be fearful of another abduction or similar crime (other than being advised to be "vigilant"). Maybe I missed this information being given out by LE, not just by media. I don't see this kind of information (or evidence as you call it) being harmful to the investigation.

My opinion is that the "risk to the community" warnings given directly by LE in this case have been vague and scarce. Let's see...1 or 2 in July shortly after the abduction, and 1 or 2 in December after the bodies were found, and maybe 1 within the last month. Advice to "remain vigilant", without any reference of specific warnings or precautions is hardly an indication of a potential for other abductions.

Big differences between "murdered" and "dead girls" as well as "warnings" and "stay vigilant" and anything in between varies the community/public involvement and perception .

I would love to turn on the local news and hear that LE is calling this a murder investigation and that they are working hard to catch this killer. I have a feeling that the reason they are saying nothing is because they are watching and waiting. I just hope they don't sit idle watching and waiting and this happens again right under their noses.

I know that the town of Evansdale still has this case on their minds, what I worry about is the rest of the public forgetting that two children were abducted and murdered and the killer is still out there.

If this case continues unsolved for many more months it will be forgotten just like the rest of the cold cases.

Yes even if they labeled it a murder investigation it would something new an IMO it would not hurt the case. Its basically just something everybody already knows anyway.

  • #963
I don't think they want to scare the perp into leaving. They want him to feel comfortable and to go about his daily buisness. All it takes is getting his dna, and matching it with what they have. I'm dreaming.

Except by people like us, who will never forget!

LE says they have five investigators actively working on this case. So IMO there must be more going on behind the scenes than the public is aware of. At least, I really hope so.:please:

I know, if they don't and it really is at a stand still, I might lose all hope also.

As far as we know LE has the girls bikes, purse, video evidence and bodies. We don't know if they have finger prints, dna, fibers, more witnesses or a suspect. Did I miss anything?

I don't really understand what sort of community involvement is required for a police department to investigate a murder. Community involvement isn't required for lawyers, doctors, accountants and professors to do the jobs that they are trained to do ... why would detectives need community involvement to do their jobs? If people have information that pertains to the abduction/murder, they should report it to the police. That strikes me as the beginning and end of it. What else should the community be doing to help the detectives do their jobs?

Regarding public information that two children were abducted and murdered in the community, police have said that they believe that the person responsible lives in the community. Everyone knows that there has not been an arrest. What additional information does the community require in order to understand that a very dangerous person is living amongst them? Should people be afraid, no. Should people be cautious, more protective of their children and educate their children about dangerous people ... police have said that they should.
.

What an extraordinary statement. :what:

LE have said over and over again that they are missing certain pieces of information and have appealled to the Evansdale community for help many times.

“Regardless of whether the person(s) responsible for taking Elizabeth and Lyric reside, work, or have acquaintances in the area, or possibly came to the area to commit a crime, it is virtually impossible for any person to live, travel, or exist in a vacuum,” Paulson wrote. “Someone knows something that might be valuable to law enforcement.”
DCI set up a new email address, [email protected], and began circulating the email to encourage members of the public to reconsider what they might know about the girls’ disappearance and provide any new details on the case, Paulson told The Des Moines Register
“We’re just doing anything and everything we can to make sure the word is out there and to make sure people have an easy way to contact law enforcement,” she said.
Officials continue to follow up on a large number of leads, including watching hours of surveillance footage collected from businesses, homes and elsewhere in Evansdale, according to Paulson’s email.

At the lake they were putting some things in bags, but I don't think we know or could tell what it was.

We don't even know for sure the girls were murdered. LE never said it's a homicide.

This has got to be one of the more bizarre statements I have ever read on WS.

Really? I have read much stranger comments than that, including several on this very thread!

The article you are quoting from was written before the girls' bodies were found. Of course where there are two missing girls, LE appeals to the public for help.

However, I believe our discussion has been about whether LE should be releasing info and asking for the public's assistance regarding the murder investigation. IMO that is a totally different situation than asking people to be on the lookout for two missing girls.

ETA: The article you quoted from goes into a fair amount of detail regarding what the public should be aware of, IMO. LE has done a good job as far as I'm concerned in asking for the public's help and doesn't need to release info about their investigation until they have something substantive to report. JMO.

I could be wrong but what I got out of Otto's statement was that the police do not need "PHYSICAL" help from the public, he went on to say if people have information they should in fact call police and tell them.

We don't even know for sure the girls were murdered. LE never said it's a homicide.

Why are they using such an overabundance of caution? Obviously the girls did not commit suicide and transport themselves to the body dump. I don't want to think they have nothing and therefore there is nothing to report. I keep thinking with two bodies and two crimes there is so much more opportunity for evidence. If it is a serial killer there is not much to worry in tipping them off. Serial killers will continue to kill as it a compulsion. If there is serial killer praying on children in this country that would be a good thing to know for the public. ARGHHH. So frustrated.

checking for anything new.

I see nothing has changed.

I can't remember what late night show I watched probably something on the lines of Cold Case, any way This woman's son died in a hit and run 3 1/2 years ago. The only thing this woman has hung onto in the last 3 1/2 years was some flimsy article in the paper about her son being hit and died and that LE was investigating. When whoever was doing the show investigated, it was learned that LE actually had done N O T H I N G to help this woman find closure. When asked what made her think LE was doing anything.... she held up that stupid article saying "police are investigating". So sad.

She patiently sat and waited to let LE do what they said they were doing. It was absolutely nothing.

A traveling serial killer who finds or knows about 7 Bridges ... he may have a
local area contact ?

:blushing::twocents:

That's a very slim thread there partner. . . Possibly could have just stumbled on it and remembered it. Looked at a map and decided Evansdale just for the heck of it. . . Work from the innards to the outward. . .

LE says they are working as if it were a homicide ?

Let's see a show of smiles who think it was a murder? :)

I know it is a big stretch, but there are quite a list of unsolved murders of young woman and children in the area from the 70's on. Most of these cases involved the dumping of the body in a remote wooded area.:what:

Where is that list? I think we need to study it more carefully.

No, you are not dreaming. However, if he has been questioned by LE, he is long gone. If LE has not questioned him yet and he is starting to feel comfortable in his surroundings he may feel safe. I don't think he would hit Evansdale twice. Waterloo should be frightened! :moo:

I am hopeful they are about to give more clues soon. Time could be running out.
