Then what?

I know it's pretty obvious that they were murdered, but I agree with Cinder. I haven't seen the deaths officially classified as a "homicides". Maybe the reason goes along with homicide being considered "cause of death", which LE has made clear they aren't going to release anytime soon.

“We considered it an abduction at the time and we’re still proceeding with that,” he said when asked if the case is now considered a double homicide. “I would say we’re looking that way at this time; we have two bodies. But we’re going to rely on the state medical examiner.”

Unless anyone has anything more recent that indicates it has been classified as a "double homicide".

January 2, 2013 article...

"The cause and manner of death are considered public information under Iowa’s open-records law, “unless disclosure would jeopardize an investigation or pose a clear and present danger to the public safety or the safety of an individual.” Iowa law stipulates that medical examiner records and reports shall be released to a law enforcement agency that is investigating a death and to the decedent’s immediate next of kin, unless doing so could jeopardize an investigation or present a danger to someone’s safety."

I haven't seen anything classifying this as a double homicide. It's obvious, IMO, but no official announcement has been made.

No, you are not dreaming. However, if he has been questioned by LE, he is long gone. If LE has not questioned him yet and he is starting to feel comfortable in his surroundings he may feel safe. I don't think he would hit Evansdale twice. Waterloo should be frightened! :moo:

You may be right, but I wonder if the perp is so self-assured, cocky, whatever, that he thinks he's smarter than LE and is still in the area.:waitasec:

LE says they are working as if it were a homicide ?

Let's see a show of smiles who think it was a murder? :)

:) :)

Even if the girls were tied up and left to die at 7 Bridges, that would still be a homicide, right? I'm not saying that happened, just wondering.

Right. Something similar happened to a little girl in Missouri back in 1992...The cause of death was exposure. :(

Thanks for that!:seeya:

I should have been clearer in my post. What I meant was that I haven't heard or read anything from LE stating the girls' deaths are officially homicides.

I don't know but in my opinion they (LE) haven't stated it, because it has gone to the Cold Case. I don't think they have a clue as to who did this. The sad thing is not even $170,000 will make some one talk. Sad beyond words.

I think they have a clue, they just can't prove it.

They can't prove it because people aren't talking. LE's frustration at this has been clear, and they have expressed it several times.

People aren't talking because...well, I'm not really sure why. Eight attendees at the BHCSO's public forum indicates that people are just not that passionate about solving this crime.

It baffles me. Why does this town appear almost totally disinterested in this investigation? :dunno:

He is probably cunning enough to know that if he had suddenly left town, it would be noticed, but if he fades off in the Springtime, ie says he is seeking work, it would draw less attention. He may well have been in amongst them all the whole time. The Purloined Letter, the best place to hide is in full view. I still suspect the girls knew the perp, at least casually. I hope LE is drawing in their net.

Respectfully, I disagree. I think the town of Evansdale is passionate about solving this crime. BHCSO also covers WaterLoo. I don't think Waterloo is as passionate as Evansdale. Waterloo is the 6th largest city in Iowa. Evansdale population is around 4,500. I also think the eight attendees did not want their faces show on TV either and who can blame them? I think the killer has turned them amongst themselves. If someone says something they believe they will automatically be suspect. Its hard to keep up with the non-registered SO and RSOs. They can move a couple of streets over from Evansdale and have a Waterloo address and vice versa.

Here's an example, we looked at this guy earlier. His last picture when I looked at him was taken in 2007. I just looked at him again and his picture has been updated to February 2013. He's now in prison!!

What's wrong with this picture? A RSO can go for 6 years w/o having his picture taken?! I thought it was supposed to be yearly. I thought Iowa had Jessica's law.

I believe it's because they have faith in local law enforcement to do what is needed to solve this terrible crime. JMO.

Wasn't there a case from around there, from about that time on Unsolved Mysteries, of a boy who went out walking in the forest near his home with his dog, and never came home? And he was found dead, tied to a tree. Wasn't it suspected he had witnessed something to do with dope, seeing a drop from the sky, or a dope exchange in the forest? Such evil.
