First pic is from Arbutus, where the trail crosses, facing south towards the highway. The trail goes about a block, then turns right to parallel the highway and leads back to the spot where the cruiser was parked on the trail in a previous pic.

Second pic is from Arbutus, facing north, as the trail crosses and continues. Again, away from woods, and essentially passing through wide-open back yards once again.

Third pic is one block north of last, facing north, as trail has crossed Gilbert. The skatepark is on the left. The police station is a few hundred yards to the left, and Lafayette (sight of first trail pics in this series) is about 5 blocks north of here. The trail passes a now-closed elementary school along the way, with another playground.

Could that be a spot where a vehicle could have backed up to turn around?

Sure possible, although I had plenty of room to pull in and back out. There is room to make a full 3-pt turn here without entering any of the woods. The tracks led back quite a few feet, I never saw where they ended. Perhaps tomorrow. I'm hoping to be able to get down to where the bikes were found as well to show what the trail is like there.

Those tracks were enough that I felt compelled to call them in. Probably LE, but now I can sleep knowing I'm not the only one who saw them.

Your last 3 pics really put things in prospective for me.
Do you think or guess if someone screamed, the near by residents could hear them if doors and windows were closed?
I have a ton of kids in my neighborhood, daily playing in their yards, riding skateboards in the cul de sac, laughing , yelling etc, But when my ac is on and the windows are closed, I can't hear them...at all.

And with that, good night.

Let's find these girls.

You IMO did the right thing calling le about those tracks. You're a good guy Ollipop!

Good night!
Praying the girls come home today!

TBH I would doubt it. I can hear neighbors car doors closing, loud screams from the kids right next door, etc, with my AC on. More likely would be someone at that park, because sound travels very well across that lake.

^^^
Meaning I doubt they'd be heard, through the wooded area, over the traffic, and into an enclosed house, which is likely sound-proofed well living right by that highway.

Could the girls have climbed into some unused sitting construction equipment near the road? Or maybe some piece of machinery that did start being used?

Praying for them and their family! I have been following along here and on the scanner since day one. It is so heartbreaking!

WOW. I'm impressed.

I am in the parking lot at Lederman's. The lot is all paved, one block long, and there is another block of parking to my left. We are standing, presumably, about where the girls were last seen, looking towards where the grandmother was.

They should be finished draining today, right?

Continued prayers for the girls and their families. I don't know what's worse. Not knowing where your child is or knowing they are found drowned in the lake.

I can't imagine. :(

I think LE is telling us more by what they are NOT saying rather than what they are saying. I don't think the girls are in the lake and I am getting the impression that you don't think they are either - would this be a correct assumption?

eleph

What I find odd is LE has cleared all RSO in the area but it appears they may have a possible POI on their radar who is not a RSO? Also, they say everyone is a suspect. So do they think the girls were harmed by someone and this was no accident (drowning)?

Abben said the sex offender interviews led to no new information.

"Everyone has been cleared," Abben said. "We have no concerns with that."

"There's still officers combing the area on foot. They're out in teams, there's two officer teams. And they're still out walking the area. They're still interviewing people," said Abben.

Abben said they are pursuing this as a missing person's case. But they are following up on leads which indicate otherwise. Investigators have interviewed the girls' family members regarding their whereabouts when the cousins went missing.

"Everyone is a suspect. We've talked to the parents and we don't have any reason to believe there's been foul play," he said.

It would be easy for even a teen with a quad to get 2 girls on board saying "want to ride it with me?"
Who did they trust enough?
Who would want 2 little girls?
Why not wait for just 1.
2 perps?

I think just one perp. They knew him well enough that it was easy to get them to go with him.. Lots of talk about his cool car or something like that, meet me at the park,no one will know, you'll be back in a few minutes. The rest is history..

You could ask why not two? If you can take two then why not. Ian Huntley ( killer in a very famous case in the UK)took advantage of two young girls walking past his house and murdered them.

Trying to find where I read.... That it is sometimes easier to control two because the fear factor of protecting the other one from being hurt...
(if that makes any sense)

My hubby say the fear factor comes from the green mile..:slap:
