I believe what was said on HLN was that Lyric and her cousin (not Elizabeth) did not come home at the time were supposed to on this particular day. The mother became worried when they were late and contacted police, but Lyric and her cousin (who had been playing in a nearby park) came home just as the police car arrived. There probably isn't a report because there was nothing to report. I believe this was during an interview with Lyric's parents on JVM last night, but it could have been the interview with them on NG.

Interesting and confusing. Not sure why they're sending the FBI divers in now. Shouldn't they have done that before draining the pond?:waitasec:

Not Sure N/T but from my experience diving it is easier in fresh water that has muck and tall water grass to go through when it is only 4 to 5 feet deep because of low visibility you can reach out better and feel in the weeds and muck...

The pond is being drained. Divers are on the way. All the RSO have apparently been cleared. There are no volunteer searches. What now? Is LE actively conducting searches, or... what are they doing, exactly? Not being sarcastic (well, maybe a teensy bit), just curious as to what else is going on while the lake slowly drains.

ETA: I see in this article posted above, that the search area has "exanded" but it isn't clear who is searching, or how, or anything.

<snipped for space> And the fact that we couldn't take the trail around the lake meant I really couldn't get the pics I truly wanted. (I wanted to make a vid of the walk thru the tight area, may yet at some time if it becomes accessible.)

Ollipop I'm just catching up so this has probably already been said but THANK YOU for all these pics and the work/time you've spent taking and posting them! They're really helpful for understanding the scene better. The little thumbs-up button just wasn't enough. :)

Great pictures Ollipop!

IYO, would a vehicle parked where you found the unusual tire tracks be fairly well obscured from Arbutus Av?

Can you look at the map in my siggy and verify that the location that I marked is correct for where you found the tire tracks? Thanks!

Real close. The car icon you have placed is actually about on that little cleared path I took, about where I was standing when I took pics of the back yard on the lake, and then turned to shoot through the woods.

The tire tracks would be more where that dead tree appears on the map (the brown spot in the otherwise green foliage).

But yes, its all right in that area. I did not see any access to the trail from that yard, other than "bushwhacking" thru some serious underbrush. I didn't investigate too closely, tho, as I didn't want to be in someone's back yard.

Did anyone else see this?

When I clicked the link several different articles are linked. What exactly did you want me to see, thanks........

What I quoted... That thread moves very fast...

There was discussion earlier about Lyric being reported missing a few days proir to Fridays disappearance.... The reporter asked LE and they said NO that she was not reported missing previously...

Quote: Heather and Drew Collins,... http://www.kcrg.com/evansdaledisappearance

Drew Collins: This poor man looked on the verge of the collapse the last time I saw him on television. I think he's trying to protect his ill wife, run his business, look after his children, and now his daughter is missing. I feel terrible for every family member involved, but the pain on this man's face whenever I see him breaks my heart.

Hot. Humid. Miserable

Poor LE.

When I was watching it (HLN interview in question), mom had said that they couldn't find Lyric and as soon as they called the cops, she walked in the door. I take that to mean no report filed. HTH

Yes it does. Thank you! I couldn't figure out why they would say she had been previously reported missing to LE if she really hadn't been...

We went to the beach yesterday that the mother says they swam at often. It's nice, for Iowa. I fear you may be correct. I saw a vehicle cruise slowly through the parking lot when we were leaving, lone male inside, clearly gawking at my wife/kids as he crept by. I watched him continue through the lot, ominously slowly, then exit the park and get on the highway (by that time we were well behind him). I realize I am more sensitive/paranoid today than, say, a week ago, but the possibility is surely there. And FTR, that beach is at George Wyth State Park, where the town next to us borders the next town over, so its not somewhere the girls would have ridden their bikes. They wouldn't be there without someone who could drive them. If they were spotted there/followed, the perp would have to have kept up on a 4-laned divided highway as they left. Not impossible, but less-likely.

I remember this case very well. I was about Johnny's age, and had a paper route at the time. It was very frightening for me and my parents - our paper gave us whistles and flashlights, taught us stranger safety, etc. I've continued to follow his case and have read his mother's account of what has transpired since, and it is incredibly creepy, and for some reason I remember there being some connection to a pedo-ring in Nebraska where the prosecutor suddenly went missing, and to the Sandusky case. I'm not sure if they were connected, or reports were comparing the cases. The point is, these sick people have a network in this country. It is scary, creepy, and maddening.

BBM...he may have been looking for the kids, too. Out searching, checking people out to se if the kids match descriptions...IMOO.

I still think they were groomed.. Now one of the Mom's says they went swimming just about everyday, for the last 6 weeks. I think that's were they met whoever disappeared them..

Swimming in a "no swimming allowed" lake, farther away from home than they "ever" go? Seems weird to me. Although I do think your scenario makes a lot of sense.

Oh my. What's going on? :(

Elizabeth's mom is very ill with a heart condition. This additional stress can't be good for her health. The family probably just needs to stay home to take care of her and the other kids.

I feel so bad for Elizabeth's mom Heather. I know that this would take an immense toll on anyone, even people with their health, so imagine how difficult this is for her. I don't know much about pacemakers, but I hope she doesn't get sick or have a setback or anything. :(

Especially since they have a pump helping to speed up the process. They should be able to move the pump/ suction hose and just pump out the deep pockets.

Interesting and confusing. Not sure why they're sending the FBI divers in now. Shouldn't they have done that before draining the lake?:waitasec:

Searching a lake or any body of water is painfully slow, dangerous and has to be done in a very systematic way. Even divers can get caught in weeds, debris, etc and perish. The less water in the lake, the faster the search and more of a chance something will not be missed. It makes sense to have the area "prepped" prior to sending in divers. As for the sump pump thing of draining out pockets of water, I think the lake has drains in the bottom by drainage pipes already placed; however, often times there are natural aquifers, springs and rivers that replace the water as it drains. Also, a lake has many troughs and valleys so it will not be flat like a swimming pool, and often in those deeper areas if there are pits or holes you suck the water out they can collapse on themselves, burying anything there. IMOO

He saw them at 12:27, but did not call LE until he discovered two little girls were missing. So his cell will not show he called at the time he ran across the bikes.

Just wanted to add I probably wouldn't have called either. Why report a couple of bikes in the road on a trail? I could probably drive down my street right now and see a half dozen bikes laying in driveways, sidewalks, yards...
