There is some debate about that. I tend to listen to the locals, who say whether the boundary is marked "private" or not, it actually is. I don't think there is a fence or anything.

I haven't seen actual footage from overhead, just stills, which are so up close they appear fairly indistinguishable from other parts of the river. Do you have a link to footage? That would put it to bed once and for all.

I would think that two people who went there and saw for themselves, then let you know for sure that the bodies were not on private land should be enough to close this discussion.

I live in NY "somewhat" upstate. I am blessed to live here. I am like a little fishy. I also paddled south in Florida among the mangroves.

I was fortunate to see 2 bald eagles. Saw bald eagles right here too.

I have paddled local rivers and white water, hiked the mountain trials.
My eyes are open. I have also swam with dolphins in Bahamas. I am blessed. I have little money, but I make the best of where I live, hence my sadness.

Mangroves and me:

That is one cool picture! Lucky girl!

Know what? I would love to see you guys meet up together with your cameras. Safety in numbers and all that. :rocker::rocker::rocker:

Compile your data. I for one will stand behind you guys. Wish I lived closer.

I'm not going to argue about it yet again. I just don't agree with that being the location and I absolutely don't believe LE has lied repeatedly about it.

Then don't. :)

I'm trying to figure out how a simple difference of opinion regarding a map has suddenly become LE lying "repeatedly".

:dunno:

What did you see, obviously a lot of greenery, but how did you know that you were looking at the right site?

Okay, to answer some questions. The deer/lion creature thingy wasn't seen when I snapped the picture. I will say that as I was walking down there I spotted way up ahead of me a herd of it looked like deer running past. At least thats what I thought it was. The gate was locked at the front and down the road from that gate was another gate locked with signs all over it not to trespass and private property? That stumped me.

You will know when you see the video. I'm hoping to link to Youtube soon...think it might just work.

I show the walk from the turnabout right to the site where the 2 sheets are in the aerial photos..the area etc.

Because LE has said repeatedly the site was in the park, so if it was really clear over by the fork in the river on private land, then they've lied.

Which I don't think they've done. That was an IF.

"IF" indeed. It's all been a big "IF".

Video's are uploading to Youtube right now (pray for no fail in the upload...as this is the first time I've ever uploaded anything).

I have no doubt whatsoever that this is the area the girls were found...unless of course the 2 sheets in the photos with LE standing by weren't the girls bodies.

I believe they were though...and wreaths/flowers placed in almost the EXACT spot the sheets were laying tells me it's the right spot.

This map shows where the bodies were found, and also shows that the remains were found on public land.

There was an editorial into today's Waterloo Courier. The person writing it was not at all happy about the way the island looks right now and how the wildlife was destroyed.

Please look at this map:
http://www.recreationparks.net/IA/bremer/seven-bridges-county-park-readlyn

Find the fork in the Wapsipinicon River where the girls were found. Notice that it is well to the east from the park border. :moo:

You might want to look at this map. You'll need to keep enlarging it in order to see the boundary lines of Seven Bridges which is located in the lower right corner of the map.

Can't wait to read it! I looked on their website, and the most recent editorals are from 4/8 so it should be online tomorrow.
