Until I saw those photos, I didn't realize how totally they had obliterated everything about how the island used to look.

It makes me wonder why Dan is so focused on that part of the lake...like he thinks by stamping it out, he can stamp out a memory.

p.s. I might feel the same way if my child had been taken from a particular location. Like if I could make it into something different, it wouldn't remind me so much.

you know ... if this was me Im not sure what I would be doing ... it would be day to day and minute to minute some days, and second to second others! Just to make it through one day! Then I think I might be seriously thinking about moving ........ Somewhere far far far away.
I had better shut up or I will violate something ....

Welcome Back, Otto! :seeya:

+1 :rocker: and I have to say it: Go Hawkies! It's good news we all need no matter what happens tonight - just being there - we are so proud of everyone involved. GO HAWKS.

I am almost at a loss for words... they ruined an ecosystem for a bunch of gazebos??
Oh holy lord what are they thinking?

I was really loving the idea until they wrecked the island. Cart before horse,
oh yeah. Maybe someone should have thought to evaluate the conditions on the island.

Here is a comparison.

Thank you for this comparison... well done.

I know this will come off as a complaint but please believe when I say it's not intended as such. It's probably just me, but I would love to see a third photo placed at the top of these two.

The third photo which I want to see at the top is that aerial vw of the island from the google map.

Am I the only one who sees the irony that those trees (now touted to have been dying, unhealthy, and dangerous) were seen from above as a beautiful lush green??

I don't believe for one second only 1 dozen trees on that island were healthy and hearty.

If they REALLY are concerned about the "scary" area...how about take down the entire acreage over by Maiden Lane where the perp parked and hid his damn car?! THAT is the place where all the delinquent activity, partying, etc. supposedly took place.

Thank goodness THAT "scary" part of the park is being left for future predators to hang out . :banghead:

I can't seem to shake the connection of some sort of maintenance (or water conservation person, fish conservation etc.) type DNR worker who would be familiar with both places.

Someone who could have run into the girls at the park on several occassions...or even the skate park maybe?

There has to be some sort of connection between the 2 parks. :banghead:

Could it be the perp lives in Evansdale, but their close relative lives in Readlyn, i.e. son living in E visiting mom living in R, so knows both parks very well and imo is a hunter/fisherman. IMO

Amen to everything you said! If I could find an emoticon that showed my head beating against the same wall right along beside yours, I would post it <here>!

Every time I see the word "scary" related to the island, I simply want to barf. To me it reeks of a lame, hindsighted excuse concocted after the sheet has hit the fan(NO pun intended)!

And, wow... when it comes to "marking the trees to be removed"... uhh... or for marking (it would appear) only the dozen trees to remain(?), my poetic wish is that the "donated marking material" was in the form of yellow tape which "volunteers" perhaps begged off LE.

And, jumping off 3CK's post... IIRC some locals, in the first month aft the sad/shocking disappearance of two innocent little children, suggested that better lighting and more security cameras might be a good idea for certain areas around town...

I wish we would hear about the girl's murderer's investigation. Why hasn't there been an arrest yet? I hope the person or people that did this horrible crime would be caught. I wish we had more updates on the investigation of these sweet, innocent children. I guess I am just very frusrated!

I want to share something that's been gnawing at me.

I lived in a semi-rural condo for 12 years. It was small, but I LOVED it. I felt safe. I raised my son here, went through HS etc.

One day, I came home from work and found my 2 beloved pine tree gone.
They welcomed me home every day. I literally cried my eyes out that that night. Who did it? How did they come to this decision? I wept for a week.

I want to know who and how the decision was made to decimate this small island and the wildlife that lived there.

All these trees and the wildlife are now gone.

Oh yes, BunnyH... I spent a great part of today exploring and enjoying the wonderful links you provided!!! (Ty again)

What I'm wanting now is one link which opens directly to a display of the (3) aforementioned photos.

And, yes, it's prob a purely selfish desire/need on my part. (:

What's up with the bricks costing $3000 each? Where I live, the local football stadium (Rutgers) has it where you can buy bricks that go into a brick walk to honor people. The prices are 4" x 8" is $250, 8" x 8" = $800 and 12" x 12" = $3000. So what is the size of the brick at Evansdale? And who is going to spend $3000 to buy some brick unless the park has some huge sentimental connection to their loved one? I honestly don't think that many people would be interested.

Here it is, the island before the destruction.
