I'm surprised Misty, Wylma and/or Tammy haven't said anything about the Meyers Lake memorial. They don't seem to be involved in the big project. JMO.

Probably weren't invited JMO

Based on the illustration I posted above (which is provided by the group that is renovating the Island), this seems to be the plan for the park. Given that illustration, it seems that clear cutting the Island was their plan from the beginning.

These are still rather crude 3D models, but it gives an idea about what it will look life.

I, too, have noticed their lack of participation as I guess most here have.

I'm not surprised, however, as I have felt for some time that these (3) suffering ladies have already learned that "the limelight of center stage" tends to turn harsh w/time... as does the public who puts one there and then goes from feeling one's pain to pointing out one's moles. imo

Sadly, I believe that "the fickle limelight" was beginning to shine harshly on HC and DC before the trees were slaughtered. I don't think they were aware of it then.

Sadly, I believe they're aware of it now...

Thanks Marilyn, I was wondering the same thing.

Sadly, it doesn't surprise me. I really hope I don't get in trouble for this, but it's my opinion and I have the right to say what I feel as long as I'm not implicating the parents in the crime.

I've watched this entire family completely flip flop their "limelight" during the course of this travesty, which is still not at an end.

During the initial weeks, who did you see with their face in the limelight? Grandma, Misty, Tammy, and even Dan. They were all over the news doing interviews, pleading for these girls to be found...begging for everyone to keep their eyes peeled, turn in ANYTHING that looks suspicious, etc.

Heather and Drew just kind of hung out in the background, doing select interviews, mostly radio, begging us to forgive the person who has done this to these girls, and to pray...just keep praying.

Now, since the girls bodies have been found who have we seen? Not the same people who were in the face of the media trying to find out who did this to their babies. Those same people are NOT involved in the multiple fundraisers. Those same people are NOT the ones who are looking to make this park a shrine in memory of these girls.

Every single thing I personally have seen since the girls deaths that Heather and Drew have had their hands in involve fundraising, money, donations, etc...whatever you want to call it.

To each their own. Everyone has their own way of dealing with death. Maybe this is how the Collin's family thinks the funds should be spent. Maybe the Morrissey's don't agree, so they aren't participating. Or maybe they are and just aren't asking for the limelight in the project.

I do however, take note at who's doing what and it bothers me. And that's all I'm going to say to hopefully prevent a time out. :jail:

well, I can definitely understand why the residents are angry at their "new" backyard! Looking outside my yard just now (looks similar to the island trees) and would freak out if it was all removed in a matter of days! The Angels Park should have been placed on a vacant piece of land somewhere else. :twocents:
I find this really an odd thing to do and suspect the girls were murdered on the island. Why else for the total destruction? Does this explain why there has been no mention of finding the murderer, No warnings to the public to be on the alert & protect their children from the Boogieman that is yet to be arrested, the appearance the "calmness" in the demeanor of EC's parents ... and an apparent shift in priorities by those affected in the murder of two innocent children?
Me thinks LE has arrested a POI or are close to doing so. :moo:

I hope you're right, but I don't think they are. On Tuesday, Kent Smock posted a statement on the Evansdale PD FB page. The post refers to temperatures becoming warmer and children spending more time outdoors. He lists several safety tips. There's no mention in his post of Lyric and Elizabeth, although there might be some in the comments, but if I lived in Evansdale, I would take that post as a warning to beware of a repeat of last summer.

I have my two granddaughters with me tonight and I cherish every moment. My one granddaughter is into playing baseball and it made me wonder if Lyric or Elizabeth was into any type of after school sports before school ended for the season. I reminded my granddaughter to make sure when she is at practice to always be aware of the people around her. If she happens to see someone that is not normally there during most of her practices, or if she doesn't know them stay away from them.

I think Lizzie was on a team, maybe softball??

Wonder if they checked this guy out, scamming the public is one thing, but going to the family seems beyond usual thievery imo.

"A man reportedly seeking donations visited Heather and Drew Collins’ home Saturday, Frickson said.

“We just want people to know that they are not with us, and people might want to double check before they give someone their money,” Frickson said. “That is not something we have set up"

Dan is incarcerated after pleading guilty on existing charges and faces new charges for additional manufacturing and useage. I doubt he can be in the media spotlight supporting the memorial. I don't believe Misty has been seen or heard from since being released from her stint at being incarcerated and released January 30th after what, a 2-3 month stint? I would imagine 72+ year old Wylma tries to make it through the days and painful nights clinging to Lyric's Teddy bear in the bed they used to share. I forget now the point you are trying to make?

Pete Miles says: Better be careful everyone. I heard that there's a new gang in the Cedar Valley called Heather's Cult. They believe salvation is found in cutting down trees. Yours might be next. So if you hear a chainsaw or front loader, it means they're working their way towards YOUR trees.

Pete Miles says: Ask her about the noisy, goose/child hybrid she's been working on. Once finished with these little Monsters of Mayhem, they'll be used to play as loud as they can, while crapping all over your lawn to the rhythm of all the ugly traffic on the highway.

How childish and immature are these statements? <shaking my head>

Planned/targeted. Jmo

given the drug background I tend to agree ... however maybe not drugs per se. Maybe the drug problems only made them vulnerable in the perp's eyes, figure they were a vulnerable group with many problems already, then the girls surface as targets which appeals to the perp's need specifically ... opportunity arises if perp was keeping an eye for them ... etc

I think these people were targeted one way or another.

This is an aerial map of the lake before the highway was built and before the Island was built. I would like to see what was written in the planning notes when the Island was created. It's quite possible that it was specifically intended as a noise barrier and wildlife habitat and that trees were needed in order to ensure soil stability.
