Buzz can be very generous. He has no heirs. He needs something to support. As digusting as this all was 30 years ago, I have heard nothing more since. I don't think there is a coverup. He has friends, but honestly, I don't think they are THAT good of friends to pull a major cover up like covering up pedophelia. People don't fall at his feet because he has money. He puts full page ads in the paper on his mothers birthday to honor her, even after she died a few years ago. He is an odd man, but I really don't think hes dangerous.

I've see a couple of things that make me wonder if he is given preferential treatment because of his family name. I know that happens all over, in big towns and little cities - some families are almost above reproach due to their history with the city. JMO.

ETA: I'm not trying to suggest that any major transgressions have been covered up.

I know it happens, but in this case I cant see anyone really indebted to him because of his money. Maybe the Waterloo Center for the Arts, but I don't know of anyone who gets an ongoing donation. And I should know cuz I work for a non profit.... I think he just gives money where his heart tells him, but not consistently. And there is no more family.

How can you say that HE raped a THIRTEEN year old. Fed her drugs and spent a little time in prison for it. He is scum of the earth NO matter the amount of money he does or doesn't have. It doesn't matter if this was 30 years ago or 2 days ago. HE IS SCUM. You can not advocate against Sex Offenders when you are sharing cake with him. The thought of him bringing and releasing doves at the memorial is sickening.

And from people that I talk to around here. THE ONLY reason people hang around him is to get what they can from him. $$$$$$$$$$$ Dirty money at that~ jmo

Very strange to make your "enemy" (known sex offender, if that's the type of person you think did this) your friend. Not sure, but I feel there is some method to Heather's madness in some things. I myself would not be associated with this type of person no matter how much money he had. Maybe she thinks because he knows so many people it will lead to some clue as to who did this. Trying to analyze her actions as to the why she does what she does, or why she doesn't feel what we think she feel is just as mind boggling as trying to figure out who did this.

You have Drew who believes that people should remain on the registry FOR LIFE - regardless of their crime, also stating that "those people can't be rehabilitated". Would the same apply to one of the biggest donors to Angel's Park?

These poor little girls...I am wanting so badly to be an advocate for this memorial, but I personally feel the way this is being handled is more of an exploitation than it is a memorial. It just sickens me. God, PLEASE...I beg that this killer is found so our focus can go back to where it should be. Find this person, bring them to justice, and we can then move forward with the grieving process. This just all feels so backwards to me.

You expressed the same feelings I have about this case. So many questions, IMO.

And a lot of different theories here on WS. Which IMO is great, because the more we disagree on issues, the faster the posts fly. And that keeps Lyric and Lizzie at the top of the forum, where more people can read about these two little girls. JMO.

I asked a question of Tony Thompson a while back. I think it was.related to where the bodies were located. I was told that I was asking the wrong department, and that the Evansdale PD would be the one to ask. I thought this was odd, since Rick Abben is a deputy under Ton Thompson. Anyway, I too like his answer. Ive never doubted it.

I have never asked him direct questions, because I do realize the risk to the investigation. Maybe your question was one he wouldn't answer, not couldn't.

In the Bible it says to forgive, but only if the one you want to forgive has changed their ways and repents. I do not know what crime on a child this man has done (maybe someone can inform me), but if she has any doubt at all that her child was molested, how can she even look him in the eye? I find Heathers great love of God and forgiveness wonderful but also not human. What I mean is, her great forgiveness and calmness in this situation is strange and not humanly possible. The only other person I have heard that can do this that I know is Jesus himself. I believe in God also and try to follow his commandments, but I'm human and screw up, and if my child was abducted and later found killed, I would suddenly have the devil in me and want to find justice. This world has some nasty evil people roaming it, and even Jesus had his patience tested. I in no way think the family is involved, but dammit, there is a killer on the loose and children are in danger. So stop with all the flowers and pretty stuff and start fighting Heather!

Last night I laid in bed for hours with this case in my head. I do the same thing, run all kinds of scenarios thru, I try not to fixate on my one suspect, but it's hard.


1. The girls leave home on their bikes.

2. Camera catches them riding past, (fast).

3. Mr. Carpenter sees them ride past his house.

4. A witness sees their bikes laying across the path by the lakes gate.

5. Months later their bodies are found at seven bridges wildlife area.

It's said a ( jogger) was a witness. Is it smart to jog on a 90 degree plus high humidity day in the afternoon? Idk, I have seen people do it and always thought what an idiot they are,lol. Iowa was hot and very humid last year, it was nasty. Why did Adden not acknowledge the biker witness? What timeline do I believe? So many questions, so little answers.

I think a lot of people wonder how they would handle things given the same situation. Thankfully I don't have to put myself in her shoes. I only know how I have dealt with the things in my own life.

As far as Heather not screaming justice at the top of the roof one can only wonder why?
Many years ago I was put in a situation where all eyes were on me. My first husband had a very bad accident, I had three children. This in no way even comes close to what Heather is going through, but I remember holding my head up and not wearing my heart on my sleeve because the whole family was waiting for me to have a break down. I had three small children under five, I could not afford to have a break down, they needed me to be strong. Heather has more children and she has to find some sense of balance for the sake of their well being. I think if it were me I'd want to be put in a straight jacket. I'd want to go after everyone that looked suspicious. But then how constructive or helpful would that be to the remaining children.

I also understand some not all of the religious aspect, (Grandpa and Dad ministers), when she puts in in God's hands I can sort of understand, it's a burden that is way to much to bear so it's easier to take some of the load off by doing this. I have used this theory but along with it have also used the "god helps those who help themselves", meaning yes put it in God's hands but find a way to help yourself get the answers you need. Don't know if what I am saying is making sense, just some random thoughts.
