Here is a photo of Lyric's headstone:

https://fbcdn-sphotos-h-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-frc1/995675_621647451179766_399889185_n.jpg

Per Heather's FB page, it is located about "40 paces" from Elizabeth's.

Yes, Thank you Marilyn. I appreciate the photo very much. Tears streamed from my face as I read the words "Good Night". My grandmother very much taught me that death was like going to sleep and waiting for Jesus to come again and at that time we would wake up again and be whole and our bodies would be like new. Now days my thinking is different on such situations, but it brought back a good memory wrapped within a sad situation with Elizabeth and Lyric's deaths. I am glad they are not far apart from each other even in death. :(

Maryinilpa, did you take that picture? I want to add it to the case archive if I may.
I need to credit the person who took it. Thank you.

No, it's from Heather Collins' FB page, she shared it with me.

Bumping by request....

Although there are many unknowns in Michael Klunder's past. We do know that he is/was a psychopathic sexual predator without a victim profile.. Psychopathic sexual predators are very deflective, manipulative, calculating, and creative.
Krunder, took advantage of jurisdictional linkage blindness and perceived hypothesis..imo

Until possibly his last four victims, if responsible for L & L, which were abducted in pairs.
Not only was his victim profile & MO erratic, but also the amount of time that passed between abductions, based on his past.

'Is the reason for the delay in Law Enforcement's update on the Klunder connection to the L & L abduction/murder due to the probability of other unknown victims?

Evidence in Dayton, Evansdale cases headed to FBI crime lab

“It’s predominately evidence that would have DNA relevance,” Meyers said. “We’ve been working for the last week or so to determine what evidence would meet the necessary submission for the FBI crime lab.”

eta, Meyers said the FBI analysis likely will be a lengthy process and that other work will continue locally at the same time. He would not say what the evidence was or where it was found.

Thanks for the info, foxfire!

I noticed that none of these girls has a WS thread (Danielle Galica; Bridgette D. Bowman; Kelsey L. Larsen).

The map is interesting - I see some state parks along the road. I assume they were thoroughly searched at the times these girls went missing.

I think Kelsey was found - I didn't find her on iowacoldcases.org.

She has been removed since I posted the comment. I could not find any info from a search, where she has been located.

Another missing woman, although her age was 37 at the time she was reported missing. She also went missing very near a State Park.

Wonder why they would have to send DNA evidence to the FBI crime lab? Maybe they don't have much of it?

The FBI crime labs have the best testing equipment & people that small towns and even many big cities don't have.

It also sounds like there might be partial DNA evidence.

The article states that the FBI has testing facilities the locals do not have.]

I'm kind of excited, this is the first I've heard about DNA actually, physically existing, not just a vague reference to "evidence".

:please:

I am surprised its taken so long for them to send it. What is going on with this case?

Yes just wondering what the federal labs do that the state lab does not. Maybe something to do with partial DNA?

After watching the above video, I am very impressed with the capabilities of the FBI Crime Lab, and confident that if MJ Klunder was responsible for L & L's abduction/murder, and if proper CSI's were conducted in any unknown victims. He will be identified...

'A Salute to Iowa Investigators' for their decision to utilize this invaluable resource..

My brother is a research biologist who works a lot with DNA to discover genes that are correlated with cystic fibrosis or multiple sclerosis. His field isn't forensic DNA but it is closely related to what he does.

He said that depending on what sort of material is being tested and exactly what sort of DNA they are testing for, tests can take anywhere from 24 hours to 2+ months. The longer tests are more sophisticated and require a higher level of training to perform. For some of the most advanced tests, there are only a handful of people in the US who are capable of running them. And of course, the fewer people who can perform a certain task, the longer the wait times are likely to be because demand outstrips supply.

I have no idea if this has any bearing on the evidence being tested in this case.

If the DNA evidence from this case was tiny and/or degraded, they may have sent Klunder's DNA to the FBI because they will need to do more precise and sophisticated testing on it than is usually done in the DCI lab in Ankeny.

The article quoted doesn't specify which case the DNA came from, so it could be Klunder.
