No, it is not just you who thinks this way, my friend.

That cute American phrase "hinky" is all over this mess.

Thank you, my friend, for helping me not feel like the Lone Ranger in my thoughts that this is a "hinky" mess too. :seeya:

Maybe they're just not expecting that many to attend.

A lot of folks have already donated.

Hinkydale, Iowa. :dunno:

Yep, I'm thinking a lot of folks have moved on . . . It's just not the same feeling that you get when you think about how Kathlynn and Dee's community reacted versus Evansdale. :twocents:

There are dynamics at work in this case that make me :waitasec: including (but not limited to) the following -

8 people attending the town meeting (W.T.F????)
Kent Smock's personal relationship with some of the family (I would be happier if this wasn't a factor)
Lack of "exoneration" - compare to Alanna's case where LE almost immediately cleared the family publicly
Lack of a BOLO
The timing of the abduction, the way the girls were rushing to that lake
Implications of scene staging at the Lake
FBI saying "they're still alive"
The plea bargain shenanigans around DM
The speech/appearance/behaviour of certain individuals
The apparent rush for fundraising re. Angels Park.
Angel's Park itself...:dunno:

And on, and on...

:twocents:

SS, I agree with you about all those factors making things look just plain weird, except for the town meeting attendance. am I remembering wrong in that it was actually a previously scheduled Sheriff's Office event that just happened to be in Evansdale?

Turning out en masse to show support would have been nice, I agree, but I personally can't get worked up too much by people not showing up for what was probably a preplanned, boilerplate presentation with no questions about the investigation entertained by the sheriff or his deputies.

I guess I would have been inclined to go to a meeting if I thought it would actually mean they would give more information. But I don't see that happening.

Loftys Lounge has been supportive all along. Many events there IIRC.

Some people like to "hang out" I guess.

I agree Angels Park would have been a great place for community picnic, gathering and bar-b-q, but WTHDIK (what the heck do I know)

I suppose they are a sponsor of sorts? MHO. :moo:

Big ideas need big money.

Sitting here right now overlooking Meyers lake. No access to the park, "construction zone". A few people fishing, kids walking. No one on the bike trail. Beautiful night, so we are surprised. Almost need goggles, riding bikes, the bugs are so bad. Also, I didn't really notice any trees or weeds trimmed near where the bikes were found. Looks the same to me.

So the island/road is still inaccessible?

Is it landscaped at least? Workers there every day?

Thanks!

I saw a lot bags of mulch, and there is no grass yet. Still construction equipment sitting there. I'm assuming they're working everyday. The land bridge is open, but a sign says no trespassing. Of course that didn't stop some teenagers from walking over there.

Per Facebook, 60 pink rose bushes were delivered to Angels park today, will be planted tomorrow.

Well, I sure hope Angels Park turns out to be a beautiful place for people to stroll to and from to leave behind their worries and enjoy the serenity and tranquility it is hoped to accomplish. It should be a wonderful spot to meditate also.
If there were a roller skating rink or a skateboard area; it could offer a fun place for the kiddos while the parents are relaxing on a nearby park bench.
I sincerely wish the organizers good success in this endeavor.

OT There was just an Amber Alert issued in Ia. for an 11-year-old girl taken from Shellsburg. The child was taken by a man with the same last name as her. The info. is on the Iowa Amber Alert website.

One plus for Lofty's is that it has a huge parking lot. If they are hoping for a large turnout, Lofty's is better placed to handle lots of vehicles than Angels Park is.
