I trust Grandma. I think she just got confused with the time. So lets say she last seen them at 1130. Witness saw the bikes at lake at 1230. It gave DM plenty of time to (if he is involved)..and then get home and take a nap. For both parents to lie and say Lyric would not run away when in fact she did, suitcase and all, made my hinky go up.

Yes tigger, they lied ..but why? :waitasec: that lie means 'something'.

I'm wondering about the "last seen" (11:30, 12:15, 12:30?)...I watched NG tonight...As far as she's concerned, the father has an alibi thru both his mother and his son, that he'd been there napping. He was there when he got the phone call about the girls having gone missing. But how can anyone confirm that the grandmother has provided the correct time as to WHEN exactly they went missing? Could it have been even earlier in the day? Who's to say it wasn't, say at 10:00, 10:30,11:00?

P.S. Gosh, I really have to retire for the evening, so I'll come back in the a.m. to read any thoughts on this aspect. Thank you and good night all! My prayers go out for Lyric and Elizabeth.

Grandmother Cook was caring for the three other Collins children at the time, so I think it's possible that LE got some type of confirmation from one or more of the other children.

Other than that guess, I honestly don't know how or why LE has pinned down 12:15 pm as the last known sighting.

I will never forget John Walsh saying "LE could ask me to stand naked in the street and I would if they thought it would help find Adam." Now to me that is what a real parent does. To me the rest is BS. MOO IMO IMOO

But they already DID take polys, and allowed, without warrants, searches of the homes and taking of computer(s), and submitted to interviews with LE.

It was reported that Dan only left (not stormed out) after he was repeatedly accused of doing something to the girls and he had over and over told them everything he knew and maintained his innocence.

At some point you have to just go home when you run out of ways to say 'i didn't do it'.

And the article did not say they had retained a lawyer, just that they had been advised by one.

I know my innocent behind would make sure I had a lawyer before I submitted to questioning! I think any family in this situation SHOULD have a lawyer. JMHO

I also believe it was speculation that grandma was watching other children. I don't think we know for sure.

Heather and Drew have four children including Elizabeth. I'm sure she was watching all of them, including Lyric.

Wow, I missed that about Lyric running away. Do you or anyone else have a link?

Other than grandma, did anyone else see the girls that morning???
Are there witnesses?? or do we just trust grandma and her time and story about girls going on bike ride? Sorry just have to ask.

She was caring for the other three Collins children that morning in addition to Elizabeth and Lyric.

My guess is that Heather Collins probably saw both girls that morning.

It's hard for me to believe that children would or could lie convincingly for a week to LE about seeing their sibling and cousin.

yes grandma was watching other children and could very easily been distracted on hr time. I trust grandma also, just not sure of her time.
Why would parents lie about her running away?
Yes hinky because that is the first thing I would say, if my child had tried to run away before.
Now WHY did she run away? and why would a 10 year old want to run away?
To whom would she run to? a boyfriend? why would they hide that fact?
Is there more to that story and that is why they think she was abducted?
Poor little Elizabeth, where does she fit in all this?

I don't think there needs to be any Earth shattering reason for a 10 yr old to "run away". I ran away with my friend when she was 11 & I was 12 because her mom wouldn't let her get a puppy. We packed suitcases and food. We were gone (to a vacant lot in our neighborhood, but we really felt like we were doing something).

Seems to me if the father did something to these girls, they would be saying she had a history of running away. It would steer suspicion away from him. It would be assumed she had just run away again and happened upon someone with very bad intentions. That's what makes sense to me, anyway, not that the thoughts in my head always make sense.

I am usually the first one to say "The parents did it!", but I'm not in this case. I don't know that I can pinpoint a specific reason for it, I'm just not feeling it this time. I believe completely that this is a stranger abduction, a crime of opportunity.

IMO

Was LE still planning to go to the lake at 10 tonight?

How old are the other children that were being watched by Grandma at the Collins home?

I must say I thought the FBI told the Capt. nothing most of the week watching the press conferences. With the family coming out on HLN talking & on the news with different times last seen, clothing etc... I think the Capt. reiterated the case direction quite well with his statements as to what the girls were wearing, what time last seen etc...

I agree with others that TB should let someone else speak for the family. I won't elaborate ...

And Heather doesn't know what they were wearing either? Or the other siblings? Or Grandma? Or Misty?

Same here! I think I mentioned it before but I "ran away" numerous times when I was 8-10 years old for completely silly reasons. My brother did the same. And we had a good home life, nothing to really "run away" from. We sure felt like rebels when we sat behind bushes in the vacant lot/kinda-sorta-park up the street. Not like I ask every person this question but I don't think I've ever met anyone who didn't "run away" at least once or twice as kids. Whenever I've brought it up people start laughing and sharing the times they "ran away."

If the girls did in fact run away I think something went terribly wrong for them not to be back by now, though. At that age and in the heat that's been reported out there, I don't think their "escape" would've lasted more than a few hours.

Aunt Tammy was getting very upset this evening on NG, and enough reason to be, maybe she feels she needs to keep the message out there?

wonder if they lifted any prints from the bikes
eta- that shouldn't have been there

 • #736
Whose bike was Lyric riding? Did she have her own bike there? How did it get there? Does Grandma drive a big vehicle?

:waitasec:

 • #737
so far IIRC the bikes were processed but no info released.
Different stories on how bikes were found.
1 man said that he moved them off the path because he almost ran into them when riding his bike. LE saw them against the fence when he arrived.

I do not believe he said he moved them off the path, only had to suddenly swerve to miss them. Or has new info come out??

Although the Collinses do not believe Daniel Morrissey was involved in the girls’ disappearance, they want to distinguish themselves from their family members, said Wrabek, who noted that Lyric and her 16-year-old brother, Dillin, lived with the Collinses for several years while Misty Morrissey was incarcerated.
“The lawyer for the family does not represent Heather and Drew,” Wrabek said. “You have to check every single lead and every single avenue no matter what, and that’s why Heather and Drew have cooperated 100%. They’re obviously not happy about Misty and Dan because if they’re not cooperating then the focus is turned away from finding the girls.”

I agree that maybe she feels the need to get the msg out there. However, with some family members being repeatedly questioned, I am worried she may make things worse. Rambling on & on.

And I believe one of them was on a swim team, so it isn't like she didn't know how to swim well!

But swim team usually also involves a pool where one can always touch.

ETA: I don't think they drown, but I definitely believe it could happen.
