This is my first post, but I've been visiting since the Lisa Irwin case.

I've been thinking about the whole paddle boater as abductor scenario. We've got statements that indicate that the girls possibly went to the edge of the water (since it's not really been confirmed as fact). If they were taken by a paddle boater, or led to a nearby home after crossing the water, shouldn't there be a scent trail at the exit point at some other spot on the lake? From what the SAR experts have stated, even if the perp carried the girls, they would still likely leave a scent trail. Do we have any idea if they actually took the dogs around the entire perimeter of the lake? Unless there was a back and forth trail (a path to and from the lake) in the same vicinity, the lack of searching for an exit trail would make me think that either a) someone dropped the ball or b) there wasn't a true hit on a trail there. Just my inexperienced opinion.

Interesting...can a paddle boat pull right up to the shore, or does it have to pull up to a dock?

It seems pretty standard, or at least similar to the Lisa Irwin case, to subpeona the raw news footage of family interviews. Any speculation on what they are looking for in this case. Actual information, people in the background or body language of the family members?

The news director of an Iowa-based NBC affiliate said Thursday that the station would turn over footage of its interview with the mother of one of two missing cousins after authorities served a subpoena that claimed it could help their investigation.

They toss the outtakes:
News director Dan Schillinger said Thursday the station was in the process of giving authorities its full interview with Misty Morrissey, which has been available on its website. Cook was standing next to Morrissey during the interview, but she didn't speak. The station does not have any additional footage because its policy is to get rid of outtakes, Schillinger said.:banghead:

Family Reunion:

If you have not been incarcerated, please raise your hand.

OT:

LOL. I needed that. Thanks. I remember some family reunions when I was a kid, where I thought they should ask: If you have not been a patient in a mental asylum, raise your hand.

As another poster said earlier, if you don't laugh you'll cry. The world is a mess. MOO

So, at 12:30 Heather came in...and even though her child was missing, went to an appt and was back again at 2:00? And when they weren't there STILL - she THEN went to the police?:waitasec:

Well they weren't really "missing" at that point IMO. Just not on the block. So Grandma went out looking for them and I'm sure Heather assumed she'd find them. Grandma had supposedly just seen them 15 minutes prior so I'm sure there was no panic at that time.

MOO

You can pull right up on shore. Most people I know who have paddle boats don't dock them...they put them right on the shore/land flipped over to prevent rain from getting in them.

My kids (when we are on vacation) will paddle as fast as they can close to shore so they can run it right onto land (preventing less heaving out of the water LOL)

11:30am - Grandma says the girl’s went out bike riding

Other reports say the GM last saw them at 1215...

did the GM actually say both times?

They first left for the bike ride @ 11:30. Sometime around 12:15 she saw them riding their bikes by the Big & Tall Clothing store that is right by the house. Not clear if she looked out a window and saw them or if she went outside and looked for them. But she thought, after seeing them at 12:15 that they would be coming in soon. They didn't and she eventually looked for them and couldn't find them.

Ok, that makes sense. :)

MOO, I think Lyric was a much more "mature" girl than most 10 year olds. It's that age that kids are starting to develop, some remain more childlike in appearance and action, some start becoming more teen like.

The picture at this link http://www.nydailynews.com/news/nat...yric-cook-morrissey-emerges-article-1.1122005 is Lyric doing the duckface, which is a teen thing to do, IMO. I think it's possible, she befriended a teen boy, possibly even an adult and kept it secret from her parents. Maybe they went to visit him, or she had arranged to see him.

I really am unsure as to what I believe regarding times and accuracies, what is fact and what is confusion/fiction.

I slept on it and woke up convinced that that is a person in the second video. Isn't this footage from the back of the buildings? If so, it's less likely that it's a customer. Maybe a worker? I wonder if someone has come forward, saying they were there, and saw the girls there? If that was a person he/she had to have seen the girls. I don't see a person across the street like some think they are seeing in the first video but that figure on the second video is just so clear to me. It is not a blob. It is a head on top of shoulders!!! What if this abduction involved several perps.?? News of all these recent abduction attempts in Iowa?? Eventually there would be a successful abduction.

Thanks for the info on the 'duckface'. That photo certainly caught my attention when I saw it earlier. I totally agree she appears to be older than 10, but of course, she's still a baby. Growing up too fast is no fun (I know from experience). Check out the photo of Lyric in this article:

Where are the parents of Elizabeth? I remember that they moved out of their house to an undisclosed location and that Heather has a heart condition and needed rest, but that was days ago. There have been pictures of them at their church, but I'm surprised that Drew and Heather Collins are not speaking out and begging for people who were around Evansdale that Friday to call LE. They are the only family members who live in Evansdale and their business is located there as well. I think they would be very familiar to people in Evansdale and focusing attention on Elizabeth would be helpful. I'm not being critical. I'm saying that I'm surprised that at least one of them is not speaking out more for Elizabeth.

Heather has very serious heart disease. If the appt had something to do with that maybe it was an appt she had to keep?

<snipped for space>

"just being regular people off the street" - Strange way to refer to herself and DM. Most regular people off the street don't have missing children.

"we're pretty devastated" - not totally devastated?

I am completely unable to relate to what I perceive to be her calm and casual demeanor considering her child is missing.

Yes and no in my mind. I think she DOES think of herself as a person "off the street" or maybe "just barely off the street"? The "pretty devastated" is odd wording. I wonder if she even feels like Lyric's her child? I mean she hasn't been with her for many of her growing-up years, so maybe it's more like a "friend of a friend's kid is missing" scenario in her mind? I'm totally speculating and guessing here.

You're right most of us don't have missing children, and most of us probably have no idea how we'd REALLY react to a missing child, just how we think or want to think we'd act. At the risk of repeating myself, personally I think I'd become ridiculously calm to the point people would think I was drugged. It's how I get when I'm scared but still "with it." Not "casual" but more like calm and focused. I'm sure everyone's a little different. I do have a very hard time even trying to understand the laughing and smiling stuff, though.

bench warrant issued for JS was for contempt of court in a child support/custody case. There was a contempt of court hearing scheduled for 7/23/12 @ 2:00 and he was a "no-show". My best guess is that he was in contempt for non-payment of child support of some kind. Appears as though he has been in contempt previously.

Missing Iowa Girls' Case Hampered By Key Witnesses Not Coming Forward FBI Says

http://www.desmoinesregister.com/ar...-by-key-witnesses-not-coming-forward-FBI-says

snipped -

Earlier this week, officials asked that someone who was seen paddle-boating on Meyers Lake that Friday contact authorities, but the person still has not done so, Breault said this morning.

“They’ve had several people who think someone was (paddle-boating on the lake), but they’re still looking for someone who was said to be out there,” she said.

snipped -

On Wednesday, a warrant was issued for another man arrested with Morrissey on drug charges in December 2011. Jason Stolfus, 37, of Waterloo, is wanted for contempt of court, according to the Black Hawk County Sheriff’s Department website.

Breault would not comment on whether Stolfus has been looked into in relation to the girls’ disappearance.

Surprisingly, she's pretty articulate as well. IMO
