I think her full name is Tammy Bertch Eastman Brousseau. Its in msm, so it's ok. And FYI I'm not being judgmental lol Ive had 4 last names.

Damn I wish you all wouldn't get so busy while I'm asleep! Or maybe the US and Australia need to match up our time zones....

anyway. playing catch up here.

I thought Tammy was a Cook.

If she isn't (or has never been) a Cook, how come she is Aunt to BOTH girls?

I believed Wylma was mom, Tammy, Heather, Misty and Jeremiah her children and there's at least 2 more sons.

Anyone?

LOl I mentioned the spiritual wording back then and was told to shushhhh.
I only meant that IMHOO that was an odd comment to make about ones
missing child. :moo:

Exactly. It's not their belief system itself that is interesting. It's that it was held up several times in the first hours of a child abduction case. It went hand in hand with another of MCM's comments...(thinking)...something about how when Lyric wanted something she kept going after it. That she was very persistent. Again, seemed odd to me that that characterization was used.

Lotta moo! :)

Question
has a description of the bikes or size of the bikes the girls were riding ever been given out??

No.

We don't even have a description of Lyric's clothing. However, while looking for this earlier today I found out there is a $50,000 reward which I had not previously heard of.

But, they need to do it again.

I don't know why LE hasn't called for more volunteer searches. At this point, I tend to think that LE should be in the lead and if they don't want any more volunteer searches, that they have some other goal in mind.

I do know that LE has continued to search but they are doing it with LE personnel only.

If the families are reacting like most of the families in the cases I've followed, they are still in the phase where they cling to LE and are not willing to consider deviating from whatever LE tells them to do (or not to do).

It is often around 6 months without results when many families start to strike out on their own. Families that can afford it start hiring PIs. Other families start searching on their own.

But there is no one single way that families react. I can think of exceptions to every single generalisation by families who were proven absolutely innocent.

I think this is very probable but it must have occurred close to the lake because I believe Mr. Carpenter's account of seeing them between 12 - 3. He knew the girls. He had seen them on a regular basis, called it "common" to see them on his road. I just don't understand why he can't tighten the time-line from when he saw them. My only guess is that LE is purposely widening the time-line. Seems like Mr. Carpenter would know if he had seen them closer to 12 or closer to 3 or in the middle. But, maybe not. Either way, I think the girls were on Lake Avenue sometime between 12:30 - 2:30.

Good point.

Personallly I think he saw them on the way down to the lake, just after they were caught on cctv, however whether they got to their destination or were waylaid on the way is debateable.

One thing that is interesting about Mr Carpenter's account is that it contradicts something gramma said, who claimed they never went past a block or two. Mr Carpenter said he saw them all the time and he was way further away than a block or two,, being in the 1000 block of Lake Avenue..

:banghead:

It's tough for anyone who has always lived in a city to understand, but some retirees in small towns almost literally know every one, and every thing, and are actively interested in observing details of their fellow townsfolk, almost as a hobby. I have no doubt it was our girls he saw.

Have there been any walking thru areas searches for the girls? Other than the lake and their homes.

Hollye's map has several search areas marked. It is linked on the first post of every thread.

I agree. My neighbors sit outside and love watching the kids playing. All the kids on this street have grown up and my kids bring some life around here. If there are regular kids around here riding past they would sure know about it. JMO

It is kind of hard to believe that the girls would never go further than a block or two. On a mountain bike? You can go a block in seconds. So the girls had to go further than a block or two or the bike rides would be less than a minute long.

Also, various people mentioned that sweet Elizabeth was very friendly and often stopped to talk to neighbors. So the Carpenters may be familiar with the girls.

someone said early on legally volunteers cannot be used after a certain point in the investigations in many states...not sure of IA law

I am surprised too, that only a couple days past that weekend did we hear of LE searching and why dogs were not used everywhere?

All I can think of is they know more than we do and it is not needed for some reason??

She could have had a different father, but the same mother, which would still make her a half sister to the other two sisters and aunt to both girls.

The reward has been around for awhile, here's an article that talks about it (near the end). http://wqad.com/2012/07/20/new-evidence-found-in-search-for-missing-iowa-girls/

I'm surprised such a large reward hasn't brought about a result by now.

There has been a $30K or higher reward in the case of Haleigh Cummings for over 3 years now...and people who may have info took very long prison sentences for drug charges while keeping quiet...I just have not seen rewards work very often, even with drugs in the mix. People do not like to admit knowing anything about children being taken, harmed etc...also reward in Ayla Reynolds case has done nothing to date.

Yeah, I always did get the feeling the girls probably pushed the envelope more than G'ma realized. Nothing against her, she had a LOT going on, just the nature of kids.

One thing that hadn't occurred to me until just now is that Mr. Carpenter said he saw the girls a lot but specifically Elizabeth "all the time." I know a lot of us have speculated that since she's older maybe Lyric was more the instigator of any "boundary pushing" and a lot of the focus has been there.

It's Elizabeth's home town, she was seen often by Mr. Carpenter (with or without Lyric), she was in the lead in the surveillance video... what are we missing if anything? WITHOUT getting into any family sleuthing or bashing, what are the other possibilities that would have Elizabeth rather than Lyric as the main target? Unless the whole thing was just random or somewhat random in that it was "two girls" but whoever did this didn't much care which girls specifically?

In case it's not clear I am NOT for one second blaming either of the girls or intending to bash any family member and I hope no one feels that way. I want them HOME with their families more than anything.

I'm just trying to think of other ideas and possibilities. Although I shudder thinking about most of them. This is only the second missing-person case I've followed (other one's Linnea Lomax) and the only one where the kids are so young. How do you guys do this regularly? I admire you for having the strength.
