IA IA - Harry Dennis Milligan, 21, Albia, 1 July 1984

Yes, it is very possible that someone went to the lengths to get the car crushed. I reckon anything is possible. Just thinking out loud, after watching many of the AWP videos, I know even they have missed targets multiple times during their trips. Do you know who has done the sonar and diving? Based on what I have seen, local police authorities simply do not have the best available technology for this type of searching.

It looks to have been a private dive team called Chaos Divers, not affiliated with LE but have located other missing people it looks like. Quoted text below from an article that was shared earlier:

private dive team, Chaos Divers, is the latest entity to take up Harry Milligan’s missing person case. The Illinois-based team spent the past week searching for clues in and around Albia

“This is something good that we can do, we can get the sonar and try and help solve cold cases,” said Chaos Divers founder Jacob Grubbs.

The team specializes in finding vehicles underwater. Milligan’s car has also never been seen since he went missing.

“In our work, we have brought ten people home,” Grubbs said.

“We searched places I didn’t think were accessible this time,” said Chaos Diving team member Lindsay Bussick. “We went through thirteen ponds, three reservoirs, Lake Miami, and Rathbun Lake.”

The dive team did not find any trace of Harry Milligan, but Mark said even finding no answers provided answers on its own…

Oh yes. Chaos Divers are veterans and know what they are doing. Not sure what to tell you other than again, it is possible even with multiple trips they may have simply missed the target. Darn big target, though.

Definitely possible it could have been missed, but it's great to know you have heard of these guys and they're good. For me it makes the likelihood of an accident or car dumped in water that much less.

Yeah....with all of the crap that went down with AWP, it appears there will be more and more independent teams doing this sort of thing. Doug Bishop is another great guy to follow. I just can't tell what his new organization is focusing on.

It was a big target 40 years ago. It may not be an intact target any more. Rust (a seven year old car back then may have already rusted, I know many did) and water movements can tear a car apart.

I have the impression that maybe he had something related to drugs, not because he was a reservist he was not going to be able to relate to drugs or other elements... but it could always be that he was intercepted by someone with resentments and destroyed him and his car... .
at least he met his parents..
rest in peace

Body found in submerged vehicle in southeast Iowa

Just sharing this over here. It’s only about 20 or so miles from Albia. IMO I don’t feel 100% confident that it’s Harry since they were able to determine the sex of the UID so quickly which makes me think the remains haven’t been there 40ish years, but I’m still holding out hope for a resolution for his or someone else’s family.

I'd start with the friends, and the possibility the car is buried. Iowa is the land of large farming equipment, and it wouldn't take a deep excavation, esp considering such vast acreage. Did any of the friends have access to a backhoe?
