Case info 6/30/25: A woman faces charges of kidnapping after police say she forced her way into a house & tried to steal an 11-month-old baby. Jennifer Webster, 49, of Davenport faces multiple charges from the Monday incident. Second-degree kidnapping someone younger than 18, Class B felony, Child stealing, Class C felony, Interference with official acts, bodily injury, serious misdemeanor & First-degree burglary, Class B felony, According to court documents, when Davenport police officers responded to a 911 call of a home invasion at 2:13pm Monday, they saw a woman on the floor squeezing the baby’s throat, causing loud screaming & gasping. Police said when the woman refused to listen to orders to release the baby, the responding officer had to hit the woman several times to distract her. The struggle lasted about three minutes, police say. An officer, Webster & the baby were taken to a local hospital for injures not considered life-threatening.
