The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office said a man has been charged in the sexual assault of a 2-month-old child.

Sheriff Daniel Johnson said a news release Tuesday that deputies took a report of an infant being sexually assaulted on Feb. 4. The mother of the child brought the two-month-old girl to a local hospital. The girl was the transported to Blank Children’s Hospital in Des Moines. Sheriff Johnson said the girl is recovering.

Deputies arrested 30-year-old Justin Stickrod. He is charged with felony child endangerment and felony sexual abuse

Albia Man Guilty of Molesting Infant Daughter

An Albia man has been found guilty of sexually abusing his daughter following a short trial in Monroe County.

The trial began on Tuesday, February 7th. On Friday the jury found 31 year-old Justin Stickrod of Albia guilty of First-Degree sexual abuse and child endangerment.

A search of Iowa inmates shows he was subsequently sentenced to life in prison.

A judge on Thursday rejected an Albia man’s request for a new trial and sentenced him to life in prison for sexually abusing an infant. Jurors found Justin Stickrod guilty of first degree sexual abuse and child endangerment in February. The abuse charge is a Class A felony, carrying a mandatory life sentence. He was given a concurrent 10-year sentence for child endangerment. Stickrod’s attorney filed a request for a new trial earlier this month, but that motion was rejected.
