I am born and raised in Iowa and am somewhat familiar with Brooklyn and the surrounding areas. Although the town itself is very small, the surrounding areas where you would search is incredibly overwhelming... making it really difficult to send the cadaver dogs just everywhere. My brother in law has a drug dog (he's LE) and while both drug and cadaver dogs can do amazing things, they have their limitations. It takes an incredible amount of set up to get these dogs prepped and ready to search. When you do set them off to search, they only last so long before they get tired, distracted, etc. Due to this and many other circumstances (costs, time, you name it) they typically only get them involved when they evidence or tips to search specific areas. Brooklyn is quite honestly probably one of the worst places she could have vanished simply because of how incredibly rural it is all around the town... it's overwhelming.
