Do you mean as a distraction tactic? Plant a clue nowhere near where she actually is?

No when I say distraction...news media and public attention is diverted away from LE. My feeling is they have had solid leads and info from her digital devices. I think the hope was they assumed they might find something quickly but as of now they now have volunteers helping as well. I think LE knows a fairly good idea what’s happened but don’t have the evidence to make an arrest yet. Sad day I think. Hoping I’m wrong

Whether Mollie was abducted from the house or not, I really hope people start locking their doors. I don't care if you think you live in Mayberry, please lock your doors!
(I'm in NY so it's ingrained in me since birth)

(O/t, commonly referred to as a “red herring”, like when ARS planted Jessica’s backpack in the opposite direction.)

Or the press conference did. I agree with others that the conference might have been a diversion for LE to make a move. It's a bit fuzzy in my mind, but sure is a coincidence in timing.

Whatever works...I'm hoping for something....and not hoping at the same time.

jmo

Why would LE need a diversion to search that area? And who is the diversion meant for?

For sure. They have been strategic all along, no change from that here. I’m sure it was timed perfectly, right down to who they put on camera and when

Volunteers are searching? Is that unusual?
Not really, imo. Remains have been located by volunteer searchers in the past, for example Adam Gilbertson. Community members often band together in situations like this, especially when and if a high profile case.

Large police presence near Highway 21 in Poweshiek County

Local news is beginning to report a large police presence near Brooklyn and the hog farm.

Was the red shirt found in this area??

I think the OP meant to keep the press away as long as possible since they would be covering the PC

Also Abbey and Libby were found by volunteers I believe. I have a feeling WC is going to be brought in for more questioning.

Not only do locks not deter criminals, often times with crimes like these, the girls/women are taken while out of the house.

Not sure why it would matter if the press were there?

If they are using volunteers from local folks, I am not sure what to think...when they have discouraged it before. Maybe looking for phone? But in any event, if she IS located, there is no way news would not get out within minutes.

  • #377
I don't think any MSM has reported what may have been found to initiate the search. JMO.

  • #378
Not if they do not have the evidence yet needed. I feel like we keep going in circles around this. Respectfully, I'm wondering what keeps you from considering that possibility?

Knowledge of how LE operates. They don't wait for suspects to destroy evidence, commit more crimes, or leave the country. They grab them immediately. If it turns out to be the wrong person, they deal with that later.

This is reminding me of Whitney Heichel a little :(

It could be because that's the 1st person I followed so closely on websleuths I suppose, not sure.
