There was a thoughtful post last night looking at how and where she could have been taken and the conclusion was that she may have been on the outskirts of town closer to some fields and in the direction closer to I80 and that made sense to me. But the 8:00 sighting and snap chat thing are a puzzle to me.
Could this place her on Historic 6 heading up the hill to make a right turn on 385th Street/road/path! It is gravel. The road that Desmoine turns into at the T stop with 170?

There is a horse trailer and some sort of stable and an older looking gas station on that route - If she ran against traffic she would be on the same side of the road. Can anyone see if you can cut through anywhere along Historic 6 to get closer to where Mollie was staying?

Deception from lie detector would potentially cause a delay to sort through and look further into the descrepencies if those exist.
What LE often do is to use the lie-detector test to rule someone out, thus enabling them to change their focus. If that's the case, we may not even be told that. Disclosing the results could make the actual perp more nervous, and that is never good.

This is a bit blunt from a private investigator, it's much easier to hide a live body than a dead one. In other words, when someone isn't found quickly it had been his experience it was because they were still alive.
I think the private investigator should keep his/her inner monologue to themselves.

This case is so incredibly bizarre.

Also, normally I am an extreme pessimist about any type of missing person case (even the cases that turn out okay). However, there is something about this case that makes me unable to shake the idea of MT have a not insignificant chance of being alive. I have been combing over what is known about this case again and again to try determine what facts or constellation of facts is giving my intuition that signal. Anybody else feel that way about this case? Maybe it's just the lack of information we are receiving and that so many things don't add up (at least not yet).
Could you be clearer on what " have a not insignificant chance" means? Not sure what you are getting at

When a body is found anytime, all sorts of vans, trucks, police vehicles are going to show up, crime scene tape goes up, cameras flashing etc...it can’t be kept secret as processing can take a very long time. Even before massive SM, local media would report pretty quickly when this was occurring. Jmo

I don’t do the state fair thing, but many do. They pack up their campers and head to Des Moines for the week. If you’re looking for somebody this week and their camper is gone I bet that’s where they’re at. Most folks got there today.
ha! I thought you were saying they would lock a high profile prisoner up at the state fair. Hahahahaha!

MSM is mainstream media, like CNN, FOX, MSNBC, etc. Don't feel too bad, I was on here for a full year and couldn't understand why people would moo at the end of their posts, so I did it too. I thought it was like saying 10-4 on a cb radio, so I mooed like a cow at the end of every post. Then one day I asked why people mooed at the end their posts. Let's just say there was a flurry of acronyms: LOL, ROFL, and ROFLPIMP. I waited another year before asking what those meant.

Best thing I've read all day. LOL!

Maybe I've only followed the atypical cases on WS, but I'm very skeptical of this info

ETA--I'm not meaning to imply that I know more than the professionals--but just look at all the missing person cases out there--never found, or bones found six months later, or ten years later. (I know--those people were found--but she has only been missing for three weeks.)

What am I getting at? Normally I believe that there is close to 100 percent chance that a person in a case like this is already dead. This time, my intuition tells me the balance of probability may still lean in an unfavorable direction, but it still leaves a greater than minimal chance for a positive outcome.

--interesting--you can edit after 35 minutes. I didn't think the window stayed open that long.

This is why I don’t think Molly would have jumped in with a friend or acquaintance for a ride. I don’t think she would want to give up on her run, even of her best friend pulled up. She was running to run. She’d want to finish it out.

I've been thinking the same thing all along, she's a runner, out there to put some miles on, I think the only way she'd get in a vehicle is if someone aimed a weapon at her. Proof of point is she didn't call her brother to come pick her up, she wanted to run/jog/walk.

Any updates from the family today?

Sadly, I don't think an abductor will let her go or turn her loose based off the reward $. The perp didn't know what the reward amount would be, or if any reward at all when he abducted her in the first place. Also, if nobody has made any calls confirming her status @ $200,000, I don't see it happening, even as the reward $ increases.

I think the private investigator should keep his/her inner monologue to themselves.

I took this the opposite way - that what he said is encouraging.

The family is told of these hazards ASAP. Idiots are always trying to come out of the woodwork to gain notoriety in a huge case like this. The FBI is used of dealing with ransom cases. Sick when people do this, the family is gullible & only wants her back at any cost. Normally the victim is dead, Sad but true.

Yes, and what I meant was that that would add to the number of investigations LE have to continue to follow if they have no other strong leads. Such as, there is a "troll" I think they are called, posting under at least four or five names and accounts of a relative of Mollie. Horrible, disgusting things, taunting .... this account is open to the public and remain so. I don't post openly unless it's a missing animal or something similar and I also don't allow posts - only replies and then only from friends. So my reaction is close this thread to the public!!! But it remains open, so I believe LE has to watch those types of things also. Maybe pressers keep getting delayed because more and more of this type of thing is happening.

Could have bolted to Ontario. If he needs a hiding place, the back woods of Ontario or Manitoba would do it.

  • #757
Except for Hannah Graham’s murderer, Jesse Matthew, who bolted, while under surveillance, and was captured in Texas 5 days later because a woman recognized him and called LE.

Dizzy, I've said it before (as recently as last night on this thread, in fact) and I'll say it again: Chief Timothy Longo and the Charlottesville PD did a SUPERB job of handling the HG investigation. I think HG's case study should be used in LE training courses to teach LEOs across the the country how to properly conduct criminal investigations. Chief Longo is brilliant. JMO.

O/T Who are you and what have you done with the real carbuff who had the priceless signature line that was near and dear to all of us?

I turned it off when the site was acting up. It seemed to cut down on the hangs.

"Opinions expressed are mine alone. Who else would they belong to?"

Also, flight can usually be used against you in court. So unless you're certain that you're about to get arrested, it might not be a good idea to flee. Of course, there's always an exception: OJ.
Nicole Brown Simpson reportedly had a safe deposit box in which she placed a note that said, "If you ever find me dead, OJ did it", or something along those lines. The court did not allow that to be entered as evidence.
