Marshalltown, Iowa Police seek person of interest | WHO Radio News | WHO Radio

Police believe the subject lives in the Des Moines area, and frequents shopping malls and discount centers in Des Moines and surrounding areas.
Just a guess but because they are making it known that he frequents malls and discount stores it would seem to me that he is more then likely linked to some crime that is happening at those locations say in the parking lot? Maybe they have had a string of robberies or attempted robberies in the parking lots.

Not sure if this could be related to MT, but it's about an hour away from Brooklyn.

Here's a question for the LE folks who post here...
If this was somehow related to the MT search, would the LE working her case leave their organizational name out of the headline, knowing that if they put it out that they were looking for this person, it would cause a media meltdown, and really muddy the water..? Just a curiosity... Kinda makes sense with the low profile that they have maintained, and it surely would cause a media circus.

I think the postponement was due to no new info that they planned to share, so why bother? The case has plenty of attention so they did not need to have one today to keep it in the news.
I think you are right and I expect Monday's to be cancelled too unless they have something really big to be announced. In that case I'm sure we will already know what it is since everybody has eyes and ears on Brooklyn.

Father, boyfriend of Mollie Tibbetts turn to fairgoers for help
DES MOINES, Iowa (KCCI) —

The family of Mollie Tibbetts turned to fairgoers Friday to help find her.

Equipped with buttons, T-shirts and missing person posters, Tibbetts' father and boyfriend asked visitors at the Iowa State Fair to keep an eye out for the missing University of Iowa Student.

Right. It’s not an arbitrary detail, is it?

I def think they found something a few Tuesday’s ago when they were sad at the presser. Rumors were flying about a find (red shirt), and there was a heavy search off the side of the road near the pig farm.
If I remember correctly, they just found out that cadaver dogs had arrived (and reported in media later in day)...:(

Well that’s an interesting detail.... A. That they know it and B. That they decided to include it. Wonder what he did to get their attention, and when?

My initial thought is shoplifting. But interesting to keep in mind, nonetheless.

If I was able to ask LE anything I'd really like to know more about that wind farm and the political (if any) history behind it. Learning about the decision making process for development, the big players involved, if any data needs to be gathered from neighboring communities to quantify the work, who they brought in for the work, etc.

Absolutely, if it is related. Edited because I read too quickly and that is MOO. I AM NOT LE.

No one is going to be able to read 21 threads.

I have not followed from the very beginning. Wherever and whenever I started reading I have mainly skimmed or skipped a whole lot. I do find I get the main gist but I'm sure I miss quite a bit. There is no way I can stay caught up. And I do try. I have always appreciated the patience of answering repeated questions.

Thank you so much as there just is no way to read 21 threads.

I think they found something a few days after she disappeared that caused them to rethink everything and call in the FBI and DCI, and ask people to stay home. And since then they've acted like they don't think she's in the immediate area.
Which is why I mentioned "the forbidden topic". It's something the feds would investigate. The FBI and DCI doesn't just show up unless it involves something bigger than just a missing person.

If Molly is “gone, the perp took a lot of lives in the process. These people will NEVER be the same. Her mom said she is either going to heaven or hell based on the outcome (not sure What Laura meant), Molly was her dads “best woman” at His wedding in June and said that her dad was her “best friend”. Her brothers seem so close to her. Dalton looks lost. MR. Tibbetts and his new wife will be Robbed of a new beginning. She isn’t going To have the husband she married a few weeks ago. I should phrase it differently. Doesn't the FBI usually take over a case when crimes cross state lines?
I posted this earlier today, but since you asked...:)

Like any other large-scale government organization, the FBI is very, very structured, but in a nutshell, under the CIRG (Critical Incident Response Group), there is an Investigative & Operations Support Section which includes the NCAVC (National Center for the Analysis of Violent Crime) which consists of 5 Behavioral Analysis Units. Behavioral Analysis Unit 4 is known as VICAP (Violent Criminal Apprehension Program).

The FBI’s Critical Incident Response Group (CIRG) provides rapid assistance to incidents in a crisis. Through CIRG, expert assistance is available in cases involving the abduction or mysterious disappearance of children, crisis management, hostage negotiation, criminal investigative analysis, and special weapons and tactics. CIRG also assists in the assessment, selection, and training of FBI undercover employees.

NCAVC staff provide operational support for a range of cases including but not limited to: domestic and international terrorism; threats of targeted violence (e.g., active shooters in schools, workplaces, and public areas or buildings); cyber crime; public corruption; cases involving child victims (child abduction or mysterious disappearances, child homicides, and victimization of children); cases involving adult victims (e.g., serial, spree, mass, and other murders); serial rape; extortion; kidnapping; product tampering; arson and bombing; and weapons of mass destruction.

NCAVC personnel deploy to provide time-sensitive, on-site support to the investigators and managers of complex investigations. All 56 FBI field offices have NCAVC coordinators who handle support and training requests from agencies in their local area.

NCAVC provides the following services:
  • Crime analysis
  • Profiles of unknown offenders
  • Offender motivation analysis
  • Linkage analysis
  • Investigative suggestions
  • Multi-agency coordination
  • Threat assessment and management
  • Interview strategies
  • Search warrant affidavit assistance
  • Prosecution and trial strategies
  • Expert testimony
  • Critical incident analysis
VICAP consists of a database and web-based tool available to law enforcement agencies to connect homicides, sexual assaults, missing persons, and unidentified human remains that may be geographically dispersed, allowing police departments to better coordinate communication and investigative efforts on potentially linked crimes.

Holly Bobo’s Dad and brother would literally search for her daily after work. They’d cover ground and mark it, and keep going and going. If mr. Tibbetts felt mollie was in the Brooklyn area, I think he’d be doing the same.

They often get involved right away to assist when resources are scarce. They had a lot more resources to address the technology components. It isn't unusual to see them involved in missing persons cases, especially in small towns. JMO.

Father, boyfriend of Mollie Tibbetts turn to fairgoers for help

Not really, but here's a snippet:

Mollie Tibbetts' boyfriend, Dalton Jack, said that he never imagined spending weeks searching for her, but that he would do it all over again for her.

"Everybody meets that special someone," Jack said. "That's her, to me."

Rob Tibbetts said he is blown away by the support he received at the fair and grateful that his daughter's story has been embraced across Iowa.
