Saying there is "no increased risk to the public" is a form of crowd control. Imagine the reaction had they said, "An increased risk to the public may exist."

I agree. I also believe that one may not even know if there is a risk to the public. Think of all the serial killers they have caught lately, or ones they don't even know about. These people can be living anywhere. I would think the only reason they would tell the public there is a serious risk is when they know they have an active serial killer who has struck more than once in that area. I cant think of any other reason they would warn people, unless there was some kind of dangerous killer on the loose. In my opinion they do not feel that this is the case, and that is why they have not stated such. There would be know reason to create a panic over something they don't know is the case. As they said in the last PC, you should ALWAYS be careful.

People have gone missing from many states and have never been found. Suggesting it happens only in Iowa is quite a stretch, imo.

Not LE, but maybe they were watching someone and waiting...

I don't think this was a crime of passion, or something spontaneous due to anger or what have you. In those cases, more often than not things are not properly thought out and planned, mistakes are made, evidence is left. Hence I don't think this was personal, or carried out by someone Mollie knows who may have a thing for her. I think this perp was cold and calculated, and I still lean to opportunistic stranger abduction, by someone clever and possibly experienced, and who is a loner.

I definitely agree with the calculated part. IMO this is not a job done by a novice. This is someone who thought out the crime and like you said, had the opportunity. Possibly someone who knew the town well, but may or may not have known Mollie. It's really hard to say but I'm not getting the impression this was a crime in the spur of the moment. It seems as if no mistakes have been made thus far.

Yes you are right the one they are talking about is the left red dot . The one I screenshoot is from the right top red ignore the directions in the screenshot.

I posted a suggestion 23 days ago that the authorities should ask locals to notify them if they noticed anyone missing work on the 19th for suspicious reasons.

Given the desperate situation I expressed the hope that you could trust the public to be judicious about who they reported.

If I and others were disappointed in the PC -- and we were -- I don't mean to suggest my heart doesn't go out to the frustrated investigators who it seems have not gotten the tip they need to focus on a single suspect.

A law enforcement consultant seemed to say as much on HLN.

If I was surprised about anything with PC, it was that Reporters did not ask a word about WC and/or polygraph after hounding him for weeks! Not that LE would have disclosed anything... I hope he was ruled out, and can be left alone.

I just can't get over LE not telling the public what to look out for. Did they not want to panic Brooklyn, Iowa? That they tell us the list now a month after the fact only puts them under more shade. They're *law enforcement*. I have a lot of respect for the courage & intelligence it takes to be LE. So, given the above, I can only conclude that the original POI(s) LE had did not pan out. --Either not pan out or still panning out, & this is strategic. What's the holes in my theory?? Where's any middle ground? Why did LE wait? Anyone?

Y'all, I think there are always fair criticisms of LE to be had, but I think maybe there's so much venting at LE here because we don't have a pic of some creepy dude like in the Abby and Libby case, there's no figure to vent that rage at, and the fact that someone could possibly rip Mollie away from her family and her life makes us really angry. Justifiably. But let's not project that onto those that are her best hope of coming home.

I actually think we got a lot today - the narrowing down of a 5-10pm timeframe. The areas of interest on the map. I do think it's possible that it isn't just the truck stop we're supposed to be focused on, but that exit as an ingress/egress point to the highway. Did anyone see a driver acting strangely? Did they see what they maybe thought was a couple arguing that in retrospect might be something more significant?

One good tip could blow this whole thing open.

Ive followed a ton of cases, and sometimes LE is incredibly forthcoming with info, and genuinely seems obligated to keep the public up to date. Other cases it seems as if LE looks at the public like they don’t deserve to know anything. It’s just the way it is.

Slightly OT, but I am in Aruba today and have been thinking about Mollie and praying her case doesn’t turn out like poor Natalee Holloway. I’ve been thinking about them both all day and am chilled to the core being right in the same area where she went missing. I was hoping for some good news from the PC today. I’m still not fully caught up (bad internet connection), but it doesn’t seem like there’s a lot more to go on except the tip site and the timeframe of interest being 5pm-10pm on the 18th, correct?
I will continue to hope for good news and peace for her family.
