I see, yeah. Boy that would be some luck, right? Which leads me to a pre-planned abduction. To what end, though. Now I'm more considering motive.

Sex assault.

I feel like they almost have to have an idea of a specific vehicle that was involved. One of the areas on the map states “in the area of the D&M Car Wash”. Why say the car wash rather than Doc’s Tire & Auto Repair? IMO it’s because they have some video at the car wash of something suspicious but maybe it’s not clear enough to tell the type of vehicle or what the person looks like. Maybe the other areas are where a similar vehicle was seen between 5-10pm and the Fitbit/cell have nothing to do with it (if they were deactivated at the time of abduction).

And if the car wash IS somehow significant, this makes me think it’s even more likely to be a local. If someone was to abduct Mollie, do whatever they were to do with/to her (I hate typing that), why risk going BACK to use a car wash in the same town you just abducted someone from? Unless you were a local.

Jazz, I’m interested in your take. For whatever reason I got the distinct impression law enforcement thinks Molli is alive.
"For whatever reason" - well, we all need a little hope at this point. Try breaking it down and trying to explain why you feel this?

@-9:45: "We're looking at all options, all possibilities, and we'll continue to do that..."

My ears perked up at the mention of "brave witnesses" coming forward. I definitely found the use of the word "brave" worth noting. Also, LE's interest in trying to identify "any bystanders" was interesting. I got the strong impression that LE thinks there are residents not coming forward with useful information.

Sounds to me like they still do not have a solid working theory of what happened. IMO, they're casting about. My impression of this is only reinforced by the generic appeal issued in the pc that people call in if someone around them has changed their appearance, behavior, substance use, vehicle" etc., since July 18th. LE uses that exact same language in almost all unsolved crimes when they're casting a wide net hoping to get a useful tip. MO, the one thing that LE continues to sound at all confident about is their timeline of MT's movements. I wish I felt more hopeful that LE was much further along in their investigation than they're letting on, but that's not the vibe I'm getting. JMO and HIWAT. (HIWAT=Hope I'm Wrong About That)

because of the torch and pitchfork crowd, you would have to be brave to come out as a witness in a high profile case.

Local blog said folks are staying in due to the press being in town and all the random folks driving through. Yesterday it was sad that a number of people said they didn't even want to leave to go to church due to the press.

JoJoJo - I posted a reply before I saw your post. I apologize. Trying to keep up with the threads is tough. Hope you understand. SO VERY SAD to hear folks are afraid to go to church!!!! This disappearance has changed this tiny Midwest town permanently.

Would someone mind providing me with the latest on the "red shirt"?

Did MT's parents or LE confirm a red shirt was found, or if was ruled out as being Mollie's? TIA!!
We have had no information from LE about the red shirt, at all.

Something else to consider:

Iowa is not all cornfields. Starting from I-80 and go south you can get into some of the most lightly populated areas in the USA. That sounds odd, but it is true. Very very rural.

Don't think I am weird but I went to a 'chain saw convention' in that Brooklyn area once. (OK I like trees; they have hot rod chain saw races, chain saw art etc.) Some of the logs brought over from log mills there were taller than me (as I remember). Incredibly large tress. Very very dense forest along the rivers. (they have to run these huge logs thru a metal detector because they have barbed wire inside they grew over).

The people there and then south are 'different'; not sociopaths, but different. Many know the area like the back of their hands over generations. I knew one fellow who could take people to the state line markers from the civil war -- no not that civil war. The Honey War -- a civil war between Iowa and Missouri. The Honey War is an official USA civil war. :-)

So there are plenty of places to stash 'evidence'.

It has been almost four weeks since Mollie went missing. In a town of 1,500 they have had time to question literally everyone.
Nope apparently 500. I think that means another 2 months. Sorry I know that sounded snarky. (I'll probably get snipped) Bad owl. Bad owl.

from the govt website: "A large reward is being offered for information leading to the recovery of Mollie."
Recovery...Not return.
:(
Actually I've been hoping that the conditions of the reward be changed. Someone is much more likely to offer information if that someone could possibly collect the reward, much more so since that someone might know that there is no possible way to facilitate her return.

So do any of the locations on the map match up to Mollie's run. Or can they be added to what we know about her run?

has WC officially been cleared?

I think that LE made a huge mistake early on, by not making the public aware of the things they mentioned today. If they had come out initially, and told the public to be aware of fresh injuries, vehicle damage, behavioral changes, and a change in appearance, this would have increased the likelihood of more people calling in to report people who have exhibited these things.

Over three weeks have now passed, and people may not remember certain things, especially fresh injuries that a person has observed in regards to someone else.

I chalked up lack of comment by LE early on, as evidence that they had something solid to work with. I was clearly wrong, and am disturbed greatly by this apparent oversight.

Oh I disagree. Hindsight is always 20/20. But there may have been good reasons not to divulge that stuff then. Things that might have hindered solving the case.

It is only sometimes with the passage of time that it is determined certain info can now be released. What if they did and it caused a perp to panic and hide evidence? Or kill him or herself? Or stop talking? I mean if they had strong suspicions about someone but didn't want to tip them off, that might be info they withhold until they clear the suspect and have no other viable ones.

However, the likelihood of a disorganized crime of opportunity being clean is far lower.
Completely agree, disorganization usually means SOMETHING goes awry. In Mollie's case, it seems we have nothing. Not one single thing to go on other than a map of possible places Mollie could have been. This is not random IMO. This is beyond calculated.

It might just mean they checked for passport use.
Her passport? Was left at home unless you are thinking of someone else.

I disagree. I think the entire point of the PC is to publicize the reward is now quite substantial and still growing. A reward can be quite an incentive when someone wants out of an abusive relationship and to start over.
Good point. But I'm still unclear on the terms of the reward. Can someone point that out for me? Is it safe return only, or leads to an arrest and conviction of a guilty party?

the perp could have been in town as early as 5pm. Maybe visiting someone. A repairman perhaps.

Well - a text was sent from her phone - who typed it and hit send - is assumed - right?

This case is headed for the Delphi girls and missy bevers cases. Cold. On fire, then the reality she may never be found, and no suspect ever arrested.

I believe that if they have DNA the Delphi and Bevers cases will be solved. It’s important to note the Golden State killeorning. was charged with another count this morning.

Wouldn’t be great to have no more cold cases anywhere.
