The first sentence: “A family member of an Oregon pig farmer discovered his relative's body parts scattered across the pen.”

That's right. The family member didn't feed his relative to the pigs. A killer who would dispose of a body by feeding it to the pigs isn't going to leave body parts scattered. Serial killer Robert Pickton did it dozens of times.

Sex traffickers aren't snatching young women off their jogging paths but they are using the internet to target and lure them into their web. Interstate 80 is a major pipeline for drugs and human trafficking and there is a truck stop just a couple of miles outside Brooklyn.

The Trucking Industry: A Focus On Smuggling And Human Trafficking

Pimps are targeting, recruiting women through online dating websites

Yes. That's absolutely true. And the victims are primarily poor and/or black and/or runaways and/or from seriously dysfunctional families and/or have drug/alcohol problems and/or they suffer serious mental issues like bi polar disorder, schizophrenia and personality disorders. Women and girls with histories of dysfunction and instability.

Not middle class, functional college girls.

Maybe they had them ready but got consent and did not have to use them
I think this is likely. I’d be surprised if they hadn’t gotten a warrant but since they also got permission that is what they said during the interview. Saying they executed a warrant makes the property owners seem like suspects even if they have permission and aren’t suspects so LE probably wanted to keep the looky-loos and potential nut cases at bay

you dont just search random places without a reason though

This is just so heartbreaking. I wish I had something to contribute at this point, but I just don't. I feel so devastated for her family and friends, and angry for the families who once felt safe in their tiny, safe, Midwestern town. I really, really hope that she is found safe, but I feel each passing day makes that less likely.

Is there a forest preserve around 21? Maybe they should check there? Isn’t it close to the hog farm they just searched or not ?

No of course not. But just because they said they got permission to search doesn’t mean they didn’t also have warrants. And just because they searched the hog farm and a few other places doesn’t mean the owners of these places would be the perp.

Me too. Thinking about this whole case is giving me anxiety and I’m not even family

1. Investigators have been following up leads and conducting searches on a few properties the past 24 hours. They haven't found any traces of Mollie.
2. These searches have not required a search warrant; folks are voluntarily allowing police on to their properties.
3. DCI would not confirm which hog farm was searched.

The Finding Mollie FB page hadn’t posted in a couple of days and now has a post about placing another order for t-shirts, yard signs, etc. Doesn’t sound like they are being told a resolution is imminent.

Good for them for remaining hopeful!

I dont think they would tell the public either way. They have been pretty tight lipped this whole case. I also noticed in a few missing posters pics, she had a necklace of some kind on. Wonder if they are looking for that to.

Hog farm searched, nothing found from Mollie Tibbetts

FBI and Iowa State Patrol may be going to the homes and business of everyone in the county who has a criminal record involving abuse or violence upon females.

So if they are following up on leads and these searched didn't require search warrants.. then what could someone have said to make them search somewhere not even close to the possible last place she was seen?

Would a search without a warrant be less invasive than one with? Say is this initial search just a comb over not detailed picking though and if they found reason to do a more detailed search would they ask for a warrant?

They are searching other areas.... what tips are coming in to alert them of where to search? It seems they say they have nothing to go on.. they have no data from the Fitbit.. HOW do they not have data from that already? How do they not have cell data yet?

Sex traffickers don't hunt and snatch middle class white girls off the street as they jog in tiny farming towns.

Sex traffickers lure poor girls who come from dysfunctional families and who are overwhelmingly black, usually runaways. Or they traffick adult prostitutes or migrants who don't speak the language.

Not once have I seen the sex trafficking theory pan out in the case of a missing white woman or girl in my 14 years of websleuthing. Not once.

Sex trafficking is a major issue in our nation. But not with missing females of Mollie's demographic. It's too risky for pimps to snatch and try to traffick educated middle class girls that society cares about, whose families go insane trying to find, and who are from functional families and thus are less able to be controlled and sold at truck stops or in hotels.

The "Taken" movie scenario is a fiction.

It is not the norm but it happens.

It happened here in Toledo. 2 14-15 year old girls (cousins) were walking to the McDonald's on a busy street. A man pulled up and said he was a friend of one of the girls father's and they got into the car as the 14 year thought he looked "familiar" They were immediately taken to a house, beaten, drugged, raped, and then farmed out to truck stops up in Detroit. They were just out to get a shake, their families waiting for them, and they were taken. These girls were recovered and it was one of the biggest sex trafficking rings discovered back then. Multi states involved, over 31 people were indicted..insane. They did a 20/20, Dateline, etc. show on these girls. It was horrific. Snatched off the street. If they wouldn't have gotten in the car, they would've continued to cruise until they found someone. These were white little girls, from decent families...it DOES happen. Toledo ranks 3rd in the nation for sex trafficking. It's horrific here. My friends daughter (a beautiful, white, 17 year old pumping gas at a station was approached, intimidated, and she ran into gas station to escape.
It happens people. A lot more than people want to admit.

From what little I know about FITBIT, it needs to sync with your device (phone) to give you the data. Like blue tooth speakers, you need to be within so many feet for it to work. So even if her fitbit is still charged, LE won't be able to get any current data unless they actually have the fitbit in hand and download the data. It isn't like they can log in somewhere and pinpoint where she is. The news is rather misleading as to fitbit leading them to her location.

Are there any fitbit users here that can add info?
