And this is why im confused, Dushi. Thanks for responding. Are people supposed to be looking for her running outfit or the red shirt and denim? I know I saw early on it was her running outfit.

It is confusing. If it helps any, I look at it this way: She was last seen in the running outfit, but she could possibly be wearing a red shirt (since the family couldn't find it and it was what she was supposed to wear the next day). Now, if they've found the red shirt or the running outfit, obviously that changes things, but I don't think that's been said. If so, I missed it.

early news report:

"She may be in a HS athletic tshirt, denim shorts & chaco sandals. Her phone is off/dead & she’s without her car.

'She's a fighter': Community continues its search for missing University of Iowa student Mollie Tibbetts

either they found the red camp t-shirt or we have to go with LE's last known description of her in the pink sports bra and running tights. not that it really matters at this point. what i took away from the PC was a special agent practically begging the locals to squeal on one of their own. so IMO that's what we're waiting on. the next PC will be more of the same. JMO.

ETA: i thought the sheriff was going to cry as he ended his prepared statement...no one wants to admit it's a crime nor within their own community...again JMO...

If it's completely voluntarily and evidence shows it is, there wouldn't be an investigation. Adults are free to "disappear" if they want to. It's not illegal to leave.

jmo

This is a good point however if they dont know what happened to her then I could see where they would still investigate full force. If they finally determined conclusively she left on her own then I would expect a scaling down. Im not sure if we have a way to know if they scaled down or not. We really dont know for sure if they still have the 30+ people working on it unless they indicated that.

One thing I found interesting in the PC was this statement they gave after the question

"Is the public in danger?"

He paused and then said something like
"we can't tell you why Mollie is missing"

That can either mean
"we can't tell YOU why Mollie is missing" and they may know themselves or

"we can't tell you WHY Mollie is missing" implying they dont know for sure yet either.

They sure were careful not to tell us much and it was very frustrating.

For those who wear contacts, do you also have a pair of glasses? If so, when do you prefer contacts and when do you prefer to wear your glasses?
I'm nearsighted and currently -5 in both eyes. My worst prescription was -5.75. I put my contacts in when I shower each morning. Take them out right before bed. I keep my glasses on the nightstand because I can't see a darn thing without them. I'd say Mollie's glasses/contacts angle hinges greatly on her prescription. I wouldn't even attempt to answer the door at night without my glasses. I'd have to get within a foot to recognize someone.

When i first heard about this case early on, I saw the media and others posting about her clothes and saying she went missing while on a run. I wonder why they said that and why they changed from that to saying she went missing after her run?

The investigators have been doing an incredibly poor job of disseminating information. Unfortunately I don't think it is going to get any better.

I know how I feel each morning I come here and don't see that she has been found, I can't even imagine how her friends and family feel.
Sending them prayers.

The thing is you got to think she let somebody in while she got ready or was sleeping

but they have not been to clear on the contact thing. Either they found boxes of contacts or they found contacts in their case soaking in saline solution. If they were soaking then most likely she was sleeping or getting ready

I have always thought the person who was to drive Mollie to work that day might hold the answers. JMO. That person was never mentioned in any of the MSM articles.

Here is my understanding and / or speculation:

I believe she was to have gotten the car from her mom's house on Wednesday night, and that she would've driven herself to work in the morning. I think she might have even generally done most of her morning getting ready routine at her home and not at the bf's house. It's been unclear whether she spent a lot of *nights* at the boyfriend's place or just spent a lot of *time* at his place but my guess is that most of her stuff was at her own home and that she didn't necessarily take a suitcase over there to dogsit. When our son was in college and home for the summer, he did some house sitting but would always come on home in the mornings to shower and change and grab breakfast before heading off to work.

So basically, I think the brother was surprised to see the car they shared was still at home when he woke up in the morning. Knowing she'd have to hoof it home to get ready before jumping in the car and driving off to work, and that it looked like she was maybe running late, he texted her at 7:30 and asked if she needed a ride home (as in he was offering to drive over and pick her up so she wouldn't have to walk / run the mile home).

If I've put those pieces together correctly, I kind of suspect that she returned to the bf's after her run, showered (maybe) and started doing homework, and then someone stopped by the house and visiting with that encounter prevented her from walking back to her own home to get the car at a reasonable hour. I wonder if that person then offered to run her home so she could get the car, and she left willingly with them taking her phone but nothing else.

I know her wallet was at the bf's house. What about her car keys? Do we know if they were there, too? Or do we know if there was another set that would've been in the car? I realize leaving her wallet behind means she didn't have her license on her, but it was just a mile's drive and it's not uncommon for small towns to not have their own police force or for the police to be off duty except for emergencies late at night, so there'd be no danger of being stopped.

There are so many posts, I haven't been able to read them all. Please excuse me if this is redundant! Are either of these things related to Mollie's case or are they even related to each other? Opinion only, of course!

The guy taking pics of Dubuque joggers?
The guy who tried to grab a Dubuque jogger but she fought him off?

IMHO

Article in Dubuque paper about the jogger attacker being identified and asking the public to wait until all the facts are known before jumping to conclusions.

Dubuque police: Man involved in jogger incident ID'd, but public should wait for facts

Dubuque police announced this morning that they identified the man involved in a reported attack on a jogger Sunday, but they urged the public to wait until all the facts are known before jumping to conclusions.

SBM

Police issued another social media post this morning, saying they have identified the man "involved in the incident with the jogger on Grandview" and that more information would be released later.

It continued, "People voiced a lot of opinions on this case and were rightfully worried. That being said ... PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE wait until you know the facts before you 'fill in the blanks.'"

I’m surprised the family is saying things like this when the authorities won’t confirm one way or another. I would think they would be on the same page when it comes to divulging information.

I cant recall any case where LE appears to be using the family, neighbors, others close to her by proxy to disseminate the type of information we really need to understand what happened.

Never seen it. Usually LE themselves will try to clear things up and state some facts even if they are basic without giving away anything to help a perp.

This case is so bizarre in that LE is basically telling the public nothing but they appear to be sharing stuff with others and allowing others in the public to share it more globally. Its really bizarre

I guess my thought is if Mollie did have terrible vision and her glasses and contacts are all accounted for I would then wonder if she was taken from bed. But then that leaves the phone. If she was yanked from bed who grabbed the phone?

  • #117
I don’t find this confusing at all. I’ve said all along that Mollie’s disappearance was volentary because that’s what the evidence says.

That is certainly a possibility, but I fail to see the evidence to support that conclusion. First we don't really have a lot of evidence to go on. Since investigators are refusing to answer even the most basic questions. Second, an abduction would not necessarily leave much evidence.

I am surprised they stated there would be another presser Friday. I wonder if they plan to release something/anything? Otherwise it will only serve to keep Mollies name out there. Again.
They aren't talking to the media, but are scheduling, and holding (seemingly) worthless press conferences. They are watching people at these conferences. Either they have someone in mind and they want to see how that person acts, or they have no idea and are hoping the perp shows up and they will closely examine every person that does attend. MOO, of course.

Even with bed vision, you can still make out shapes and see if somebody is trying to grab you

I'm thinking since I'm not going to be able to check here often the next couple of days, something big will happen. Preferably she will be found safe. Hoping!
