Again, from the DAILY MAIL . It is not a reliable source and this is exactly how rumors get started. There is no point in talking about it until we know it to be true.

Why wouldn’t it be true if the girl reported it to her sister?

We have 156 robots watching us right now. Maybe I oughta comb my hair......?

If she could have. Many of us consider our ourselves “fighters” but one does not often get the chance to fight when attacked unawares. And there are some who believe an attacker who claims they will let them go “after”. No one can be classified based on response to a life-threatening situation. Jmo
And if a small (or even average) female is fighting against a male, who exactly do people think going to win most of the time? Men in general are physically stronger than women.

Le did not know what had happened to Mollie, as of the previous PC, when they were asked if the community was in danger. At that point, it seems they knew only that she was gone, that her communication stopped that evening, and that a ping registered in at least one spot. Not sure what they should have been expected to answer. People should always use caution. Jmo

They didn't say anything about the fitbit or her phone in the affidavit, so can we assume those items were not with her when she was found?

I don't suppose we can presume much, but maybe a few more details will come out in the preliminary hearing next week.

I'm hoping we get some details through the eventual results of autopsy. Because I doubt CR will ever tell us for real.
Her poor little body will tell us the truth. Every detail that happened to her, her body will tell it in the autopsy. Even people they dig back up, they can go over the bones again. The bones tell us a story that needs to be heard.

I just looked it up. In the OJ case, the venue was changed from Santa Monica to downtown LA.
Not sure the distance but wonder that most likely to accommodate the press pool.

So, we have an "anonymous" source and a spokesman for the farm. Sorry, that's just not good enough for me. And I'm wondering now what has happened or is happening with the other workers from this farm.

I believe the spokesman for the farm. I also suspect the senior homeland security official, who spoke anonymously, is also telling the truth. It's good enough for me. Time will tell. I suspect the other farm workers will be vetted. What happens next, who knows....

From the NY Times..

Dane Lang, a spokesman for Yarrabee Farms, said Mr. Rivera provided a state-issued photo identification card and a social security card. “Our practice is to take a second, enhanced step to verify the identification,” he said in a statement, screening employees through the Social Security Administration.

“We ran that information through the verification service, and it came back ‘verified,’” he said. “That means that the exact name, birthdate and exact social security number were all cross referenced and corroborated.”

Over the last 24 hours, Mr. Lang added, company officials learned that their verification had not been adequate. “Our employee was not who he said he was.”

Yes, they usually are.

However, remember self-defense tactics, and catching your attacker off-guard.

I'm looking at some self-defense training, and I've read "The Gift of Fear" by Gavin de Becker. Used copies on Amazon and Barnes and Noble are cheap. Also, you may find it in .pdf format online for free (not sure).

I'm not sure any past attempts mean his story of Mollie on the road is true. He may have realized that following women/girls and flirting or telling them they're pretty was simply not working, so he viewed isolation and an abduction easier than trolling for a victim and luring them. Predators take the path of least resistance, and just grabbing her, or incapacitating her and taking off with her, might have been that preferred path.

I don't know if the head trauma happened in the abduction or later. I do know that he's charged in the first 1st degree and the affidavit states that the murder was premeditated. If there was ever a time to claim an accident, or an oops, or a consensual situation gone bad, or, to claim that he or she was confused, and she became hysterical and tripped and fell over the car, or whatever, it would be when police show up and say they think he did it. But he chose to talk about his driving circles and a jogging/chasing event and her supposed words to him, and her reach for her phone, and her running toward a direction that took her farther away from any potential help (if I'm understanding where she was). And then to lead them to her body. I could maybe buy some or all of the initial encounter story if he had admitted the rest of the crime, but I just don't know based on this story how much is factual. I would assume they have location data on Mollie in that area? And would that not continue when he drove off with her and got her to the intersection and then headed to the cornfield that he says was his next location?

I cannot imagine what a media madhouse Montezuma, Iowa is gonna be if the trial is held there .

Its from Ben Ashford, who's been on the ground in Brooklyn. And he's directly quoting the girls sister.

I guess she could have made it up for publicity but it being the Dailymail doesn't automatically make it unreliable. They've had multiple reporters on the ground working the case since day 1.

Sadly I don't think she had a chance.

I don’t know about this part and it’s confusing me! I saw a Google Earth image of the area where she was attacked (not dumped) and there were 2-3 houses right near there! This was on the MT Facebook group and I’m not sure if the same has been done here to confirm or deny that. If it’s true, then it makes it all the harder to understand exactly how the attack/kidnapping went down.
My husband just said, "They say an area where she was presumably attacked." I guess he is right. Right now all we have is CR's statement saying it went down this way. I agree with you, too many houses were around.

If someone was Mirandized in English, said he understood, and later said he was not proficient enough in English to understand and agree, would it matter?

  • #737
it could be anyone of us. no one that has been a victim has known that that day was going to be their turn to be the victim. if it was something that could be known in advance it wouldn't happen. I don't know where the balance is in not living every moment afraid and staying safe. I do think people that think oh I live in a small town and I don't have to worry need to reconsider their views. creeps can be anywhere and perhaps the risk is the greatest when nothing has happened yet, that leaves one feeling safe.

Yes we were, and that makes me sick.

Empathy for law enforcement. They had no 'targets' in the investigation. Only on the 20th did a target emerge.

You know how everyone screams when authorities warn about a hurricane and the storm turns out weaker than it was predicted? People want to hang the forecasters.

LE has to be concerned about the public safety, but they cannot cry wolf. It's a tremendous responsibility.

She very well may have, and lost to a stronger, angry man. I wouldn’t be surprised if she had his DNA under her fingernails. Regardless though, as you say, a life threatening situation changes everything.
She also had asthma.
