The quickest route from the abduction location listed on the affidavit to the spot where she was found is 12 miles. Assuming he took that route, it would be interesting to learn why he chose that particular place to leave her, other than for the obvious advantage of avoiding driving through Brooklyn.

I absolutely 100% think he is lying about blacking out and that nonsense, but I could see the abduction, etc. happening in that area, even if there are a few houses around. It looks like they are spaced out quite a bit, and in rural areas, a lot of times houses are set back pretty far from the road (my evidence: my drive to and from work every day through rural areas/cornfields just like this).

So they are in a space between houses, that are already far back from the road, and on top of that, there is the chance a homeowner is not home right then....I could definitely see this happening there.

I have a sense that RT was onto who he was, it’s a small town and his sons had connections with the GF and kids are now coming forward with similar stories.

He may have heard some rumors and based his theory on it.

I agree. On its face, what he says makes sense, except obviously for the blackout part. He’s left out details, minimized his actions, blamed the victim, but I think the general outline is about right. Obviously the investigation will either prove or disprove the account.

Yes, I saw that too. It's not what you would expect to hear. It almost sounded like it was her AND her clothes there. I hope my gut feelings are wrong.

There's another popular case about 2 young girls who died in Indiana (don't want to get my hand slapped for mentioning it, but I promise this is relevant). When that crime was first reported, I made several posts on here about something that *could* have happened. I suggested that they were walking through the park and the perp made a comment to them. Perhaps they told him to get lost or they laughed or whatever, yet he kept on after them. Maybe then they threatened to call the police and he became enraged and attacked them. They couldn't have known that he was part of the small percentage of people who are actually dangerous in these situations. When I made these posts, several WS members ridiculed me, telling me that it "wasn't possible" for someone to snap like that-to go from flirting/talking/etc. to murder.

And now we have Mollie.

I was asked to provide links to cases that had gone down like that. I'll admit, I didn't even try to look. I DID have anecdotal evidence, though. As a woman, I am sure that MANY of us could tell a similar version of this story: you're in a store, on a run, on a hike, walking your dog, etc. and someone begins catcalling and whistling. The more you ignore them, the more heated they become. They start out by handing out compliments but it quickly turns to vulgarity. Soon, it's not "cheerful" flirting anymore-they're calling you names and screaming at you. I am sure that most of us, at one time or another, have suddenly become fearful and wondered what would happen to us if the guy kept it up and followed us.

It's happened to me many times. There's always this moment of " (insert expletive), what if he starts chasing me and throws me into his car"? Because sometimes they do.

I am definitely not implying that every man, or even most men are like this. Obviously they're not. The ones who DO are on some level of jerkdom and in a category all to themselves. Most eventually leave us alone and move on to the next target. But that tiny, tiny percentage of those who are possibly inebriated, have trouble with rage, or are just good old-fashioned sociopaths or psychopaths? THOSE are the scary ones and, the problem is, they're not always easy to spot. It's hard to be sure which ones are just going to give up and which ones won't. Sometimes these things go from 0 to 100 in less than a few seconds.

We live in a world and in a time in which we don't want to be totally paranoid and fearful ALL the time, but we also can't be naive enough to think that nothing BAD will actually happen.

I'm sure that many of us have received messages on social media from complete strangers of the opposite sex. They start out harmless enough (if annoying) with a simple "hi", "you there", "hello pretty girl". Then they move onto "why won't you talk to me" and "I want to get to know you." If you calmly respond and tell them that you're not interested, most will just go away and bother someone else (poor them). But every once in awhile you get that one *special* one who becomes incensed by your lack of interest: they send you a picture of their anatomy, they start calling you awful names, etc. Maybe even cyberstalk you for a while.

At its core, this was a simple crime circling around events that many women (and some men) are all too familiar with. And it STINKS. Mollie did nothing wrong. She was aware of her surroundings, knew he was there. She probably ignored him at first. She told him to leave her alone and threatened to call the police. She ran faster. She did what she was supposed to do. This isn't just frightening for the people of Brooklyn, Iowa; this is terrifying for all women everywhere.

God, what an awful way to die. I hope that whatever he did to her to get her into his vehicle was fast and that it did the job right away and she didn't see it coming.

I believe the spokesman for the farm. I also suspect the senior homeland security official, who spoke anonymously, is also telling the truth. It's good enough for me. Time will tell. I suspect the other farm workers will be vetted. What happens next, who knows....

“We ran that information through the verification service, and it came back ‘verified,’” he said. “That means that the exact name, birthdate and exact social security number were all cross referenced and corroborated.”

Over the last 24 hours, Mr. Lang added, company officials learned that their verification had not been adequate. “Our employee was not who he said he was.”

Ok then. Both of these people have their own a$$e$ to protect so, no, their statements are not good enough for me.

Not that it's really here nor there, but if illegal immigration is going to keep popping up in Mollie's case, we should, at the very least, be honest about what occurred here.

I can imagine! Their wording was so careful with their keeping things close to the vest while people were in actual danger. I know they worked really hard and did a great job, but some would have felt safe because of what they said. This cannot continue.

My number one responsibility is keeping my family safe. There’s always a certain degree of risk, even in small town Iowa and we know that. Still, we’re not generally as guarded as our more metro counterparts and we do a lot of things most of you wouldn’t think of. My young daughters are on different softball teams, when one girl has a tournament and the other has the day off we can either bring her along or let her stay home by herself. Three times between Mollie’s abduction and CR’s arrest I let one of my daughters stay home all day by herself. She’d walk to her friends house, the pool, the park - all over town. And now I’m more than a little freaked out to know this guy was still out there and so close to me.

The one thing you realize dealing with criminals is that for the most part they are not all that smart. The movies love the clever, taunting criminal who has a brilliant devious mind. However if you go to jails you realize that it is a pretty sad crew: much ADHD, cognitive limitations, genetic abnormalities etc.

Not trying to demean them, but research has indicated as much. The LE joke is 'Raise your right hand. No your other right hand". Criminals are not great readers, and tend to have dyslexia etc.
