I have not been following the story of Mollie through WS though I have been following it through the regular news media. A tragedy on so many levels. But our president wants to use her death to further his agenda.

My mind tells me that it could have been any sick person who wanted to overpower a young lady and cause her harm. However instead of really showing empathy towards Mollie Tibbits friends and family he is using as another excuse for his "immigration" position.

My thinking is when Mollie was running and Mr. Rivera was getting to close for comfort she said she would call the police. That meant he would more than likely to be deported. Nevertheless a young life has been taken way too soon and another life will be at the mercy of our justice system

RBBM

Excellent point--another poster mentioned this upstream, too. Hopefully, we'll get an answer when the trial starts.

Not sure if this is what your looking for....

>>snip

A senior homeland security official, who spoke anonymously because he was not authorized to discuss the case, said Mr. Rivera appears to have used stolen documentation in order to pass the federal government identity check at the farm where he had worked for the past several years.

Dane Lang, a spokesman for Yarrabee Farms, said Mr. Rivera provided a state-issued photo identification card and a social security card. “Our practice is to take a second, enhanced step to verify the identification,” he said in a statement, screening employees through the Social Security Administration.

“We ran that information through the verification service, and it came back ‘verified,’” he said. “That means that the exact name, birthdate and exact social security number were all cross referenced and corroborated.”

Over the last 24 hours, Mr. Lang added, company officials learned that their verification had not been adequate. “Our employee was not who he said he was.”

Killing of Mollie Tibbetts in Iowa Inflames Immigration Debate
So, we have an "anonymous" source and a spokesman for the farm. Sorry, that's just not good enough for me. And I'm wondering now what has happened or is happening with the other workers from this farm.

I wonder if she even knew he was coming. Did they really talk? Did he really run along side of her. Or did he run up behind her and she didn’t hear him coming? :( Poor Mollie.
I would put money on jumped her from behind and the rest is yet to be know. My bet is that there was a sexual assault in there before she was murdered. Hopefully the autopsy is able to indicate this if it happened.

He said that he panicked when Mollie said she was going to call the cops, he was afraid of being deported. But his papers were apparently good enough to fool his employer for 4-7 years. Why would he be afraid of the local cops? At most they would maybe toss him over night in jail for being a creep. Unless there is something else he is afraid they will find out? (JMO, of course, I think his story is bogus anyway, but still)

Bet i wasn’t the only one holding their phone up to their ear when Atorney America was whispering with the translator about the prelim hearing, Bc CR initially seemed to not want it.
I was like, whisper a little louder into your mic please...
I can sure see CR not wanting more details to be released at a Preliminary Hearing.

So it looks like Mollie was killed on the 18th.
The community was at risk too.

It's not a good idea to quote a post that violates Tricia's instructions that are clearly posted at the beginning of this thread. It makes more work for the mods.

Will someone help re-thread/bump a MSM source that actually says Cristhian Bahena Rivera was using a stolen identity, or a fake Social Security number, or committed tax fraud, or that the company he worked for knowingly employed him illegally?

Because I can't find any. They very well might exist and be buried by more recent updates in my searches. I'm also not saying none of those things are possible. I just want to be able to follow the facts of this fast-moving thread. Thank you!!

Here's the definition of "undocumented immigrant," according to the US government (bbm): "An alien who entered the United States illegally without the proper authorization and documents, or who entered the United States legally and has since violated the terms of his or her visa or overstayed the time limit."

I don't know the first part as I'm not interested his employment, but as to his status as an "undocumented immigrant":

"U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement said that it lodged a federal immigration detainer for Rivera after he was arrested on the murder charge. That move means the agency has probable cause to believe he is subject to deportation."

"At a hearing Wednesday, Magistrate Judge Diane Crookham-Johnson granted a state prosecutor's request to raise the bond amount to $5 million.

Assistant attorney general Scott Brown noted that Rivera is suspected of being in the country illegally, and is charged with a "heinous crime." He says the higher bond amount would protect the community."

Who is Cristhian Bahena Rivera, suspect in Mollie Tibbetts' death?

Authorities: Iowa student killed by Mexican in US illegally

Hi - first time posting.. OJ’s trial was moved from Brentwood to LA county.. I hope this case doesn’t get moved, but the attorney should ask.. I am so sad about Mollie, I was crushed when they found her body :(
There was not a change of venue in the OJ case. The charge was filed in LA County, and that's where the case was tried.

My husband was so angry when I read to him what happened. He said, "ALL women should carry pepper spray on their arm and practice blasting it quick."
I've got bear spray. One time I had it in a back pack and my daughter wanted the water bottle out of it I told my daughter to be careful don't hit it by accident! She did. It burned her hand terrible!!

He clearly doesn't have too much knowledge of how the system works or when questioned by LE, he would have said he didn't know what they were talking about and asked for an attorney. Instead he told them he abducted Mollie, she died while with him, and he led them to her body.
I agree, I don't think he is the sharpest tack. A seventh grade reading level is all that's needed to read a newspaper article. Very simple. But he can still be intelligent and lack common sense as well. We really don't know how intelligent he is until we see results of IQ tests. It doesn't take intelligence to pull off some of the things he has done, he may have had help from people who have knowledge through experience, but that isn't a reflection of intelligence. Jmo
