Or that there was a jug of water kept in the car (not as likely in Iowa because of the need for antifreeze in the winter, but this was summer), because the cooling system leaked (common in older cars, especially with plastic and aluminum radiators)...and that CR was naked (for obvious reasons) when he did the deed in the cornfield...and that he had a knife with him because he worked a manual job (I used to never leave home without one). You work with what you have at the time.

Once, in rural Louisiana, my pick-up was over heating, and I had to pull over. What to do? I kid you not, as I sat there in the middle of no where (pre cell phone days), I looked out my passenger side window and there was a pipe with a faucet sticking up out of the ground on the edge of a corn field! I kept the engine running, filled my radiator and my now empty water jug, and rolled onto Alexandria. The heck with Oscar's Razor, at times weird stuff happens, and the breaks go your way, even for opportunistic killers.

However, I do see your point. Rest assured that video of CR's car turning to follow MT should (hopefully) be enough proof of premeditation to convict CR for Murder 1 on the State level. If that falls through...

I still think that the Fed's could still file their own list of charges if they felt a need to do so. CR committed payroll fraud by working and paying Federal payroll taxes under an assumed name, even better if CR even sent anything through the mail to do this. This Federal crime (if the Malibu was owned by his employer) gave him access to the car used in commission of the murder. Federal murder charges carry the death penalty. Overeaching by the Feds? Maybe, but there is at least one Ex-Con Louisiana governor who can tell you how creative the Feds can get with filing charges. And who knows what the Feds could dig out of the Patirot and Homeland Security Acts passed since the turn of the century.
I imagine if he was naked he would have been cut up with red marks all over his body. Someone would have to have seen that , I would think. Either way, I cannot believe there is not a single soul who didn't see something. He seems too reckless to have not had anything like blood, marks, defensive wounds, messy hair or whatever. Not to mention flushed appearance, excitedness, freshly showered, jumpy nerves, etc.

Where did he go after the cornfield?

Where did he go after the cornfield?

Good question. I know a local market said he used to visit with his friends and purchase drinks and snacks. I wonder if he picked up anything to eat? Went out to eat? We know he had a month to tie up loose ends.

Her aunt, Billie Jo Calderwood, said: “Please remember, Evil comes in EVERY color.”

Reding, Tibbetts’s friend, said that she had seen outrage building online over claims that Rivera is undocumented, but that she hasn’t focused on it.

“For some people, they do view it as him being illegal,” she said. “For me, I just see it any race, any sexuality, any person could have done this. It doesn’t matter if he’s illegal or black or white. A lot of people are saying ‘Build the wall’ and all that, but I don’t believe that’s the problem necessarily. Bad people are just bad people.” [bbm]

Suspect’s relatives say they’re baffled by arrest in Mollie Tibbetts case

Reding, Mollie's friend, described that she is friends with CR on fb, explaining Brooklyn is a small town where you know everyone. She was also shocked to see him arrested. CR's Dad does not believe his son confessed. I too have not seen or read one report that anybody suspected CR responsible for Mollie missing, and/or her death. If not for CR leading LE to her body, I'd be questioning if LE had the right guy. MOO

A beautiful piece of poetry to pay tribute to a beautiful life. I wonder ...has anyone heard anything else about the funeral being broadcast? I would like to watch it.
The prayer service was available live and later one was able to stream the full video as well. The camera was set up unobtrusively in the back, affording attendees some semblance of privacy. I do hope for a similar set up for the funeral so that we may be able to pay our respects, albeit virtually.

He and his Babymomma most likely had the trailer since they had a baby. Maybe when she moved out no one else moved in.
If he lived alone I am terrified to think he may have taken her back there and held her captive. Take a gander at the FB narco blog page he follows and likes. If you have not seen it LOOK at it. It will show you exactly who CB aspired to be.
Guns, drug money, executions, torture he was a wanna be gangsta. He glorified their actions and lifestyle desperately wanting the same while fooling everyone in his life doing the opppsite.
What is underneath the surface of this GUY ( I think he is closer to 30) is terrifying.
In his mind he has been rebuffed, rejected (in his mind) by many and Molly was the one who got his revenge.
His target was a wholesome, smart, beautiful soul who was out of his reach and he was over it.
Pure and simple predator whether budding or experienced he has others in his wake...

The existence of Scott Peterson proves how the most seemingly “average good guy” person is capable of the most evil murders. And his mother certainly defended him, still is as far as I know. We’ve seen adult children refusing to believe their fathers killed their mothers, partly because the men so seldom admit to any wrongdoing, even well after conviction. This case is no different.

I think he looks older than 24 too.

Remember it has been 5 weeks and IF he was seen immediately after killing Mollie the people that saw him are not saying anything. There is no way I believe that SOMEONE that he lived with or worked with did not know especially once it came out that she was missing. Then the wheels start turning but that does not mean they would turn him in. The way of the world in some instances and I think this is one.
There is also the idea that if he knocked her out immediately she would not have had a moment to do anything at all.

The family has been so kind to allow the country to be a part of this grieving process. This is something most don't understand, but these are not people who have been versed in how to deal with the public, they don't have hired PR agents, and they've just lost their child. No one would fault them for closing out the media now, and yet they just continue to be kind to strangers. God bless them.

The ones that might have been suspicious of him might also be afraid of deportation.

Why? People seldom suspect people they know in these cases. Why do you think he would have stood out? I am not seeing it.

JMO
We may not know the exact location of where he first confronted her but with the relatively short 45 minute timespan till she was dead, I am thinking he attacked her right away and maybe drug her off in the nearby corn to rape and kill her right away at the very first confrontation zone. Then he goes back out to the road and makes sure coast is clear and drags her to the car to take her to a better dumping spot further away from town.

I hope LE has identified the initial confrontation site. There could be lots of evidence at that first spot.

Can anyone figure out if the last witness who thought he saw her jogging at 8:00 pm may have actually seen her earlier, like around 7:30? Would it make sense in relation to where she ended up 15 minutes later? It not a big deal but I was just wondering if he really did see her that night or got it confused with another night. It doesnt make sense that he could have seen her when he said he did because that would have been in the middle of the assault. So my question is, if he was off by that much, could he have seen her just before the 7:45 timeframe going by where they think she was at that time? I have no idea if anyone will understand my question, but if so, what do you think? Impossible?

Forensic profiler talks motive in the Mollie Tibbetts case

Watched this last night before turning to my guilty pleasure of “LivePD”
This guy addresses the question of how did CR go from no record to this charge.
What he said hit me like a bombshell, and i say i would tend to agree.

Why Mollie?

For me and probably for others who fell head over heels into this case, it was the light that was Mollie. I have a Mollie in my life, a beautiful soon to be Daughter in Law. When she enters the room, it is just brighter. There is a naivety and innocence that I remember having before the real world toughened me up. We did get to know Mollie through her SM and her family. I feel that I was watching her grow up as I read through her FB and Twitter. We were seeing her political views develop, her relationship with her boyfriend deepen. So, for me it wasn’t that she was a pretty face, it was something deeper that tugged at my heart. It was the mother, daughter, sister and wife in me. She seemed like she was going to light the world on fire.

Such beautiful sentiments and poetry being posted today in honor of Mollie. I agree, she was an exceptional young woman. Thank you.
