I

I wonder if they have found it as they are not asking the public to look for a discarded sharp.....?

LE would not prompt the public at large to BOLO for a murder weapon. Early in the case LE wanted the public to refrain from searching (after the massive public-involved searches). The last thing LE needs is tainted evidence....

Northbound on Hwy21 looking east down 470th St. They have both ditches mowed and are searching with dogs.
Have you seen that kind of search being done in the ditches anywhere else?

I was thinking if LE located MT's phone, we'd know about it but, I'm not so sure. At one point I believe LE indicated they wanted to be sure CR acted alone and info on MT's phone, i.e., photos, might reveal some of what happened that evening. If LE located the phone that might be one of those elements they'd hold close to the vest.

Did MT snap a photo(s) of CR, his vehicle and/or anything else that evening or on previous?

It could also be evidence from his phone. He used his phone to show them where she was, I know Google will show when he was there on the timeline.
Never mind- answered my own question

Can you please explain where the google timeline is on an iPhone?
I don't have an iPhone, supposedly there's a timeline or history or something similar in the iPhone though

I found it- it’s under Google Maps but you have to have your location setting set to ‘always’ under Google Map settings. Do you know if CR has his Google Maps timeline on or is this speculation?

Yes, that would take more than 20 minutes.

Mapping it out taking 200 south all the way to 470 and then east to Poweshiek-Iowa Rd (which looks like a minimum maintenance road, if that), then north to 460 and the cornfield takes over 30 minutes. That's just one possible route accounting for 470.

All speculation; but some have tried to add a bit of 'logical thinking' to things.

Wouldn’t that be amazing if a perp was signed into google at the time a crime was committed and the specific time and routes were recorded through google map.

I have questions. Maybe a fellow WS poster can offer insights or good guess answers;

1. Did CBR have criminal history?

2. Was this attack/murder preplanned?

3. What was your understanding of CBRs understanding and use of the English language?

4. Did CBR have the attitude of a macho Latino male? (This and any other content is not used ever to reflect racism or any suggestion of a racial bias in any size, shape or form). I am not a racially biased person.

5. Do you think CBR was a perpetrator of physical or emotional domestic violence?

6. Please share your opinion whether or not you think CBR was a repeat offender or could this have been his very first criminal act?

These are all good questions. But they are difficult to answer because of his immigration status. We have been warned not to discuss his legal status. But I feel you cannot really discuss this case without mentioning his immigration status, Fact is we don't know much about the perp because he was not here legally.

Well nobody knows anything besides what LE has said so everything else is speculation. I'm saying he used his phone (according to LE) to get back to the cornfield. Wouldn't his phone retain the information from when it was first accessed? And I mean in some way - maps, timeline, history, etc...

I basically did in the post above:)

Yeah, I kinda figured that you did. All my best to your significant other. And thank him for his service, and thank you for yours! My dad was career LE in New Orleans for 25+ years. A lot of folks don't get what it means to be in a LE family, or what it takes to be the spouse of LE. When Hurricane Betsy hit NOLA in 1965, we were on our own with his family in uptown New Orleans, because he was at work. Tell your hubby that my Dad did 19 years as a Traffic/foot beat cop at the Canal St. corner where the Marriot hotel stands today (and Dad once was involved with dealing with Lee Harvy Oswald as a protester, a block over). He should get a kick out of that!

I think there is a small path to the right of the gates if I remember correctly; so he didn't need to touch the gates at all.
Ok, but then he would have to drag her all the way up the dirt road to where he brought her into the field. Unless she was still alive at that point, and he forced her up the road a bit and then killed her there , before carrying her body into the cornfield. But if he didn't go through the gate, wouldn't his car be seen easily from the road?

That's correct; I suspect the family could release the report if they wanted to; provided that they get it authorized by LE as there is an ongoing investigation.

Out of respect to MT, I highly doubt they would do such a disrespectful thing as releasing any of the autopsy report info. There is a reason for the Iowa law about this, as written. The public's curiosity and their right and need to know only goes so far. Between now and the trial, it's going to be an information desert out there folks. (Drains canteen, throws it away) Lip balm?

I think he was drawn to that location because the gate was open or unlocked and he could quickly get his car off the road and not be seen by any car passing by. In my mind it doesn't make sense to drag a body around the gate increasing chances of being seen when he could just go directly from the road into the corn. But, he could have gone directly from the road to the corn anywhere. I think the drive into the cornfield afforded some sort of convenience.
It looked to be about 7 or 8 car lengths, depending on the size of a car, so about how many yards up the dirt road would that be to where her body was found...about 30- 40 yards? It seems a long way to drag someone, but enough distance to pull up a car so it won't be seen.

Why would the killer lead authorities to the body if he had nothing to gain?
It was probably more a matter of what he had to lose.

I asked my husband who is a detective and he said no further information will be released without consent from the family. He said basically “anything more than cause of death is similar to HIPAA and will only be released to the immediate family and will only be discussed in trial if it is pertinent to the case.” He said the the immediate family can choose to release that information to the public but highly doubts they will.

*he is not associated with this case and these are his opinions only*
