Some gravel roads aren't maintained as well as others. With all the creeks and rivers there could be low water bridges that aren't passable during rainy season. Some have deep ruts and washed out places that are okay for a truck but not a car. Railroad tracks where you could get stuck waiting on a freight train for a while. You'd really have to get out and drive them to know for sure. When I lived rural, the best way was not always the quickest route.
So the original road discussed is like what you describe?

Thanks. I'm not great at maps. I don't know what A- D stands for except to guess, and I can't tell anything about the route. Maybe I'm just a moron.
No, I should have labeled!

  • A is 385th Ave and 200 - abduction site
  • B is 430 and 200 - LE point of interest
  • C is 460th and 200
  • D is the cornfield
It's about a 36 minute drive according to Bing Maps. 470th would than be 1 mile south of the east/west road marked.

I'm asking why the proposed route goes West, then South, the East? Mollie was in his car. Why would he take such a round about route from abduction to body location.
Good question that I wish I knew the answer to. How would it benefit him or fit in with the evidence?

Ya got me. I don't do maps. :)

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

That's okay, you came up with OnStar. :)

Out of respect to MT, I highly doubt they would do such a disrespectful thing as releasing any of the autopsy report info. There is a reason for the Iowa law about this, as written. The public's curiosity and their right and need to know only goes so far. Between now and the trial, it's going to be an information desert out there folks. (Drains canteen, throws it away) Lip balm?

I agree. Some people see the discovery of Mollie's remains and the arrest of CR as the culmination of the investigation, when it really is just the beginning of another investigation. They have CR in custody and he isn't going anywhere. They can now take the needed time to meticulously investigate everything they need to know to get a conviction in this case. They may very well have the murder weapon by now, and may even have Mollie's Iphone and/or FitBit. The towed Malibu may have offered a plethora of evidence. There may have even been more video uncovered since the arrest. By now, LE probably knows pretty much everything that we wish we knew about CR. We just don't know if any or all of these things are fact , and as the poster stated, LE isn't going to be calling a presser to tell us that. The family would never release Mollie's autopsy just to satisfy a public's curiosity, imo. If she was your daughter, would you? I know that I wouldn't. I am pretty sure we have learned pretty much everything we are going to learn unless and until more charges are filed, and even then, we probably will just be making inferences based on that, or until this goes to trial or CR pleas out. I’m just going to throw this out here, a question I’m struggling with... prior to MT’s body being located there was a lot of focus on 470th street (a mile south of 460th where her body was found). I originally thought that all had to do with WC, but that farm is West of Hwy21 (220th St) and LE was searching intensely the 1 mile stretch East of Hwy21, between 220th and 235th. There had to be a reason for that focus...

I’m thinking we’re speculating CR’s route to the cornfield all wrong. 470th Street definitely came into play early in the search.

Having been involved in a few high stress events in my own life; after having just killed someone, it might be time to light up a cig (if anybody does that anymore), and to drive around figuring out what to do next. CR may have driven past the hog farm, and further south doing the "Oh hell, what have I done? What do I do now?" mantra before HE DID A U-TURN and eventually ended up at the corn field dump site. And yes it may have been after dusk (21:15), but that is what flashlights are made for. Y'all keep looking for rational behaviours, in the commission of an irrational act. Think panic and fear. Think about how a kid might react after breaking Mom's favorite nick nack and how to cover this up, and that may be closer to CR's frame of mind after 20:28. He may well be an unsophisticated stalker who overreacted, and then committed his first kill. How would y'all react if in his shoes?

As explained previously; only the family could release the autopsy report. I never said that they would; 'If she was your daughter, would you?' Really doesn't come into it. No doubt this will continue for the next few threads; but I'm relaxed about it.

Again, thanks but no, I have plenty...but the movie "3 Amigos" might help you to unwind in the info desert heat. Rattlesnake? It kinda tastes like chicken, with just a hint of allagator.

And with waiting, in the fullness of time, you will truly find the answer to your quest, once it is revealed to you....MS found in a fortune cookie.

You keep mentioning 'lip balm', so clearly you need some. There is always plenty of information; you could brush up on forensic techniques etc.

The suspect has spent one third of his life living and working in Iowa.
And if I recall correctly LE said they had not had dealings with him previousl. So unless there are unknown crimes there is not a negative history thus far

The "if she was your daughter, would you" was not aimed at you. It was for the collective "you".
