Otto. You know I’m an admirer, but honestly how could he have transported and hidden anything in a bicycle? Of course the car was important. It was a part of the plan.

Jim G. talked about bicycles. Details matter.

The car is not important. He could easily lie in wait at the abduction location, whether on foot or by car, and he could have left the body near the abduction site. The advantage of the car is that it helps to hide the crime. In this case, it was a glimpse of his car that solved it.

do we know in fact that two were seized? is there a article somewhere?
I saw a news photo of two cars being towed with LE escort.

I believe Mollie's bf said Mollie ran several different routes. CR had no way of knowing when, where or even if Mollie would be running that day. He needed a car to FIND her first. LE has seized two cars in this case. It is possible the car CR used to abduct is not the car he used to dispose of her body but the fact is CR used a car.

It was reported that Mollie had three running routes. Rivera knew enough to know where Mollie was towards the end of her route close to her mother's house, and on the edge of Brooklyn.

He needed a ride to Brooklyn to see her in the first place. That doesn't mean he was driving the car. He might have previously seen her when he was cruising around Brooklyn with his two friends.

I seen the photo, but is there a article that goes with it?

Oh but he needed the car...to ensure his anonymity and so he could get away with it..but let's be clear, the car did not kill Mollie
It sure helped in the stalking, abduction, disposal and concealment of the crime.

Without the car, I don’t think this crime occurs in this way, on this day. Could he have committed this crime without a car? Absolutely. That being said, the only way I would hold the car owner responsible, is if they knew what this guy was about to do. That’s almost certainly not the case.

The car indeed could’ve formed a plan of opportunity. Just an alternate theory - Legally documented coworker flies back home to Mexico for a couple of weeks due to ailing parent, leaves car in the yard, keys in the house. The others are out somewhere the night of July 18th. Car is taken, washed and back in the yard, parked as usual within an hour.

The only source so far that’s alleged the car was owned by the farm was a Philadelphia website with articles written by anonymous students. If there was a reliable source by now the story would’ve surely been picked up by MSM.

Responding to @wary from last thread:

I did see that, but I don’t see the significance of it. Illegals normally buy their docs, this guy must have got the cheap package. I worked with a guy named Jose Cuervo once, I always wondered if that was his real name.
It’s not that bad....I’ve had to go through life with the real name of Crystal Gayle.

I think an argument could be made that the owner acted recklessly by allowing CR access to the car without a driver's license.

Sounds like you’re referring to an accomplice. It’s impossible for s vehicle to “help”. It was driven by the accused, entirely under his power and control.

Who’s the owner?

True. But that doesn’t make him or her legally responsible when it comes to murder.

Well, on the bright side, it could get you bumped up to First Class if flying out of Nashville...

As 'backstory' and a reminder to myself or others following this case here on WS, CR's behavior was 'creepy' to other young women 'living in the area' he "stared at without saying a word to" or 'repeatedly contacted' on SM according to MSM (excerpt from link and one link to an article below) (quotes/semi-quotes are mine to paraphrase).

I will never get over how awful it is that he acted on his sick impulses in person with Mollie, 'laying in wait' to assault her, and thinking he could get away with it, if it weren't for the video footage from a random camera on a lone country road property he was not aware of that led LE to his doorstep.

It makes my skin crawl and my stomach queasy to think of him plotting his evil encounter with Mollie, and pouncing on her when she was just out for her usual exercise on her way to her mom's one fine summer's eve.

His prior behavior that 'creeped out' other young women as documented in this article and others on MSM I truly hope the DA can use to show 'malice aforethought' or his tendencies towards young women in his 'scopes' at the very least leading up to what he did to Mollie. JMHO of course.

The man charged with first-degree murder in the death of 20-year old Mollie Tibbetts made repeated unsolicited advances on social media towards local young women, according to a New York Times report.

Cristhian Bahena Rivera was a familiar fixture in Brooklyn, Iowa, where he worked for the last four years at a dairy farm a few miles from where Tibbetts was last seen.

Brooke Bestell, a local 20-year-old woman, told the Times she once turned him down when he asked her out on a date, but he repeatedly messaged her on Facebook late at night though they didn't speak in person.

"He would just stare. He wouldn't really like talk," Bestell said. "Something about him was off."

Bestell said he would message her "just over and over, like every week or so." She said the most recent message from Bahena Rivera came June 13 at 3 a.m.

After Bahena Rivera was arrested, two of Bestell's friends told her that he had also messaged them and Bestell said she wondered "how many other girls he probably was trying to talk to."

Does illegal activity
It sure helped in the stalking, abduction, disposal and concealment of the crime.

The car allowed him to conceal the crime, but it was not necessary to commit the crime.

He could easily walk 1.7 miles after targeting Mollie. It's a bit of a coincidence that he chose an abduction site along a secluded part of her running route, unless it was pre-planned. If it was pre-planned, he had a plan to get there without a car too.

He's a perverted Don Juan. Face lit with sinister decision. Cracked ice for temples. He stinks with silent pride in his barbarity. No mental hygiene.

one other article I read claimed that CR followed and tried talking to at least one other girl while walking who I think was creeped out and called her boyfriend. I have to wonder if anyone else besides MT called him out on his behavior. We may never know.

The website is a news service. It does have an editorial staff and does have by-lined stories. I doubt a student wrote the article because it relied on unnamed LE sources. Nobody is required to believe it but it is a legit news organization, imo.
