Good morning all. Rainy chilly day again here. Then back to the heat wave and humidity.
Just days before CR led LE to Mollie's body, the FBI said "there's an abductor [and killer] living among us." CR was on nobody's radar, and if not for the video of a suspicious circling vehicle, there was no road that would have led to CR at the dairy farm. For five weeks, CR continued living, working, sleeping, and eating, as if nothing was on his mind. He didn't loose weight, and his job performance did not suffer.
I believe CR is very calculating and dangerously clever. From previous accounts, we know that CR knew to befriend his targets or prey (initially, CR left a good first impression). During the entire time Mollie was missing, CR reportedly texted with a friend of Mollie's that was attending summer school and therefore not living in Brooklyn. She would question CR on the mood of Brooklyn, and what he thought happened to Mollie, and if any updates. And without hesitation, CR did nothing to trip himself up, because he was calculating enough to invoke the name of Mollie's Dad, Rob Tibbetts in his response. CR would say he thought Mollie's Dad was probably spot on -- that "Mollie was likely with somebody that misinterpreted the friendship," or that "they were in over their head," and "didn't know how to get out of the situation." CR would also say "Mollie's Dad thinks she'll be home soon," and "I believe her Dad."
CR remained under the radar because he studied Rob Tibbetts, and knew to use the words and theory of the respected father, and what nobody could find fault with, all the while deflecting any attention from himself. Even authorities commented on how does one go from a clean, good standing, well liked employee to murderer? I believe the answer is that CR is one of the most dangerous minds they've ever encountered, and we should be grateful he's no longer roaming the streets free. MOO
Perhaps LE has evidence that the CR didn't take Mollie directly to the corn field, and moved her there sometime later. I've long wondered if Mollie was elsewhere before scrutiny befell the pig farmer, and CR intentionally moved her closer to WC.
How close is the dairy farm to where WC lives and how close is CR residence to the dairy farm. Is it close enough that the ping thought to be coming from the pig farm could actually be coming from either of the other 2?I think he might have thought of moving her closer to the pig farm when it seemed that is where they were looking and they said they got a ping there but searchers and locals were actively looking for her so he did not take the chance.
The reason I say that is because he would have gladly let WC take the rap.
You made an excellent point, great post.
I want to go back through articles to see the timing of when CR said these things because there was a shift in his demeanor, he went from discussing it with people to becoming uncomfortable discussing it.
He did study RT so we know he was watching closely, very closely!
Personally I find that a bit strange for a male his age, he followed it closer that just the initial headlines, he’s not not part of her inner circle yet he was still glued to the case, with exact details of what was going on.
MOO
The shift may have come when they were searching the pig farm, search dogs out, I imagine he was getting a bit nervous or did it thrill him that they were so close but never found her?
Did he move the body closer to the pig farm hoping WC would be arrested after it was searched twice?
I think CR pre-planned to go looking for Mollie on her run for the purpose of sexual assault (SA), and that it was premeditated.
I don't think he necessarily pre-planned to also murder her, or he might have brought a shovel or other tools/items to dispose of her body. However, he did have "a sharp object' that he used to kill her, so he could have just figured if he did plan to or end up killing her, he could hide her anywhere nearby with all the miles and miles of cornfields around where she was running and he abducted her, and covering her up with some corn leaves would be enough, and she would never be found because of the vastness of the terrain and height of the corn that time of year.
IMO, any "planning" he did for any of the crimes he committed against Mollie was actually "predatory plotting" for SA.
Excerpts from links below on causes of sexual violence against women in the US and statistics on how often it happens:
Causes of sexual violence are debated and explanations of the cause include military conquest, socioeconomics, anger, power, sadism, sexual pleasure, psychopathy, ethical standards, laws, attitudes toward the victims and evolutionary pressures.:
...................<several other types of rapists described - this type seems to me to be the closest to CR - MOO.........
Power assertive rapist[edit]
For these rapists, rape becomes a way to compensate for their underlying feelings of inadequacy and feeds their issues of mastery, control, dominance, strength, intimidation, authority and capability. The intent of the power rapist is to assert their competency. The power rapist relies upon verbal threats, intimidation with a weapon, and only uses the amount of force necessary to subdue the victim.
The power rapist tends to have fantasies about sexual conquests and rape. They may believe that even though the victim initially resists them, that once they overpower their victim, the victim will eventually enjoy the rape. The rapist believes that the victim enjoyed what was done to them, and they may even ask the victim to meet them for a date later.
Because this is only a fantasy, the rapist does not feel reassured for long by either their own performance or the victim's response. The rapist feels that they must find another victim, convinced that this victim will be "the right one".
Hence, their offenses may become repetitive and compulsive. They may commit a series of rapes over a short period of time.[4]

Although these statistics are from 2006 (12 years ago), they are sobering:
Violence Against Women in the United States: Statistics
Despite the fact that advocacy groups like NOW have worked for over three decades to halt the epidemic of gender-based violence and sexual assault, the numbers are still shocking. It is time to renew our national pledge, from the President and Congress on down to City Councils all across the nation to END violence against women and men, girls and boys. This effort must also be carried on in workplaces, schools, churches, locker rooms, the military, and in courtrooms, law enforcement, entertainment and the media. NOW pledges to continue our work to end this violence and we hope you will join us in our work.
SEXUAL VIOLENCE
According to the National Crime Victimization Survey, which includes crimes that were not reported to the police, 232,960 women in the U.S. were raped or sexually assaulted in 2006. That’s more than 600 women every day.6 Other estimates, such as those generated by the FBI, are much lower because they rely on data from law enforcement agencies. A significant number of crimes are never even reported for reasons that include the victim’s feeling that nothing can/will be done and the personal nature of the incident.7
THE TARGETS
Young women, low-income women and some minorities are disproportionately victims of domestic violence and rape. Women ages 20-24 are at greatest risk of nonfatal domestic violence8, and women age 24 and under suffer from the highest rates of rape.9 The Justice Department estimates that one in five women will experience rape or attempted rape during their college years, and that less than five percent of these rapes will be reported.10 Income is also a factor: the poorer the household, the higher the rate of domestic violence — with women in the lowest income category experiencing more than six times the rate of nonfatal intimate partner violence as compared to women in the highest income category.11 When we consider race, we see that African-American women face higher rates of domestic violence than white women, and American-Indian women are victimized at a rate more than double that of women of other races.12

How do we know any of this? I haven't read anything about Rivera communicating with Mollie's friend and quoting her father when asked for an opinion.
Before we run with this, could you please provide a link?
It's here: Friend of murdered Mollie Tibbetts reveals chilling texts with Cristhian Rivera, Mollie's killer | Daily Mail OnlineI will go back and search for the link when I get a moment.
I’m pretty sure the text message info was from Daily Mail and they even had a screen shot of the text thread between them
His relatives were quoted in some other article about his behavior at a family get together, pretty sure it was the article titled “Family baffled by this” (paraphrased title)

I think there was an article from the DM that said something along those lines. I always take what they say with a grain of salt. If I remember correctly, it did say that Rivera said the same thing that RT had been saying. I'm not sure if he was directly quoting him, but that he mentioned him and said he thought that that's what happened. There were some things I thought were strange in the article, but I can't remember what it was. It's hard for me to trust the DM as they have given innaccurate information in the past. But it still may be worth considering. As I recall they were the only ones who had that story. Another reason I'm not sure they are credible.I have the same question for you.

Reference "I wish we would hear ANYTHING on the case soon!!!"Same here and loving the break from the heat & humidity. Supposed to get a lot of rain later today, tonight and tomorrow. Fine with me because this has been a summer for the books and have had enough.
I wish we would hear ANYTHING on this case soon!!!
