Radar was already said to be disallowed. That must be a word, spellcheck didn't change it.
ABC news is mainstream, right? It's an ABC news affiliate that posted it, and he posted an image of the court order granting the $5,000 for a private investigator.

as I see it, whatever it takes to make sure the case is done right, no I don't like the idea of the public paying, but what is the money after a life has been taken.

Total BS, and it was granted

"An investigator is necessary to offer Defendant assistance in this matter of particulars which are reasonably obvious given the attention this case has received.

However, Defendant will not specify each and every detail as to his reasons."

Rivera's lawyers argue that "without the appointment of an investigator at state expense, Defendant will be deprived of his constitutional right to a full and complete defense and equal protection under the law.

Defendent is in need of an investigator at public expense to avoid prejudice."

agree. I just think it's a little bit like having filet mignon for dinner every night and then asking the government for food stamps. will be interesting to see if it changes anything.

"Rivera allegedly confessed to being involved in her murder.

Rivera has had two legal teams represent him. The most recent one is a husband-wife team from Marshalltown. Chad and Jennifer Frese submitted paperwork on Wednesday, informing the court that they had hired a private investigator, from Gratias Investigations in Des Moines.

Interesting that the state will pay for a PI but he doesn't have to tell them why he needs one. Gratias Investigations.

According to your link, the cost is $5000. Better the court awards the cost I think than have him later file an appeal based on depravation of constitutional rights.

Maybe the PI will be assigned to search for that “block” of his memory lost somewhere along 385th ave?

Looks like the state will pay an outrageous amount for the 🤬🤬🤬 defense. Reminds me of Jodi Arias.

I found the online search for court filings but you have to be a registered member to search so I can not look to see if it was infact filed.

I wonder if the PI will have to divulge whatever information he digs up. Seems like it could come back to haunt CR if the PI finds more dirt on CR than LE has. I'm assuming that the PI will not be subject to the same attorney client privilege that CR gets with his attorneys.

I don’t think the PI has to divulge his findings unless they help the 🤬🤬🤬

Have a bad feeling this is going to turn into another CA trial, I pray I’m wrong

He must be trying to find out what happened during his blackout period. Someone else must have killed Mollie.

So does this mean it is likely there will be a trial?

or maybe he is aware of some other illegal actions going on but needs proof before trying to turn states evidence? kinda far out there, but I really don't see how a PI will be able to help him. I guess we'll find out.

YC news is a student publication. They probably earn points for creative writing assignments.

Tricia recently approved YC to give it a chance, see how it works out.

There ya go, create reasonable doubt if the jury is like some we’ve seen it may just work
