Mollie Tibbetts' mom has taken in illegal immigrant teen | Daily Mail Online

Following Rivera's arrest on murder charges in August, Felix's parents fled to Illinois to escape the outpouring of anti-immigrant vitriol, leaving their teenage son behind so he could finish high school.

Mollie's younger brother, Scott, who attended the same school as Felix and was friends with the teen, immediately said he could stay in his mother's spare bedroom.

After briefly grappling with the decision, Calderwood, 55, concluded that her late daughter, who in life was welcoming to all and supportive of the rights of immigrants, would have wanted her to help Felix.

Do you know where the information comes from that Uli is undocumented? WAPO doesn't mention that.

Reminds me of the forgiveness of the Amish in their school shooting years ago.

To me, this shows what an incredible loss Mollie is to the world, She would have done great things.

Her parents do it in her name.Kudos to them to counter hate which seems to especially needed at this holiday time

Now this is truly a shining example of humanity at it's best! The family of Mollie's has been kind, caring and a class act from day 1 and I'm sure Mollie is smiling down proudly. :)

I read through the whole Washington Post article at lunch today but was busy until now. Haven't seen it discussed yet but I found the part where her mom talks about her cause of death very sad and startling. It's like one thing to read what the police release and another thing to hear it from her mother. I hope all the trial stuff to come goes smoothly and in the favor of her family because these kind and generous people who loved Mollie deserve to see this guy punished to the fullest extent.

But apparently safe enough to leave their kid behind... in any event, I hope they found the safety they’re looking for in Illinois.

Folks, please remember that discussion of politics or deportation/immigration policies is not allowed.

Thank you.

I had no idea that cell phone records could show how fast you are moving, that is amazing.

But I find what is really sad is at that point we know she was in his car going 50mph.

If the cell phone pings one cell phone tower, then five minutes later it pings another tower six miles farther away, they know the phone was traveling over 50 mph, even with the margin of error.

Ohhhh I see, thanks for that explanation.

I’m wondering if they maybe even had more than that. In Kelsey Berreth’s case they have coordinates.

Absolutely agree. I believe they have the Fitbit data which can reveal much more details. IMO

Agreed. LE's POI map, the location/distance she started moving faster from, and the location where her phone dropped off network all seem fairly specific.

I'm also curious about the recent article posted here about LE's search of Google users that used her same route that night. I don't know much about what kind of location data is stored on people's phones/cloud, but LE must not have seen CR's movements digitally. Yet when they arrested him, the affidavit stated he used his phone to look at a map of his route that night. I think I'm missing something.

There really is very little being talked about on this case right now, but I am sure it will pick up closer to the trial in April. I check in from time to time just to stay connected to Mollie. :)
