Closing so far is a little underwhelming. Other than pointing out that the video times don’t mesh with his Ninja story, kinda a snore fest. Where is the outrage over his stupid story yesterday? Should have ripped that to shreds first in my opinion.
I was thinking that it was a strategy. Show them the times don't corroborate his fantasy story---and those times also make it impossible for DJ to be one of the ninjas---and so he can move away from that story and just focus on the facts of the case.

I think it is a better strategy to ignore the bogus story and focus on the evidence of his guilt. The bogus story does not fit the evidence. End of Story.

The murder/arson trial I served on we were given the case at lunch time. They left it up to us as to whether we wanted to eat first or eat while we deliberated. We chose to just get started so they released the alternates at that time. We elected a foreman, took our first vote(10-2) and started figuring out what the two that voted no needed. It ended up both had forgotten one little detail from testimony. We took the second vote and it was unanimous. The entire time taken was less than an hour. We had to wait for another half hour for them to get everybody back into court and we were done. The alternates gave us their phone numbers so they could learn what we decided quickly.

I will go with verdict tomorrow morning. I am not able to be here from about 9:30-11:30 am ET. So during that time :D

Sorry for stupid question, but I'm not well versed on trials. Is it too late for the defense to change their plea? I've always felt their goal was the get a lesser charge, at best, but now I'm wondering if they will try to get a deal. I just don't know at what point they can't do that anymore.

But not only did he take them to the body, the state also has presented cell phone evidence showing general paths of her route that night.

The electronic evidence matches the confession of the defendant that night, the 11 hour interview night.
10:24 AM · May 27, 2021·Twitter Web App

Now, state moves to the DNA evidence. "DNA proves that Mollie Tibbetts had direct contact with the Malibu that is owned and soley operated by the defendant."

He is doing fine. He isn't a grandstander. I find that refreshing sometimes.

In this case he doesn't need to be. I think being extra on this one would make it seem like he needed to be extra to prove a point. The points speak for themselves and are so plainly clear he could whisper them and they are 100% true. No need for getting anyone's attention. He has it because they know. I think the story CBR told is so ridiculous it doesn't even need to be pointed out, but glad he is.. lol

Brown: Confession identifies and proves the defendant murdered #MollieTibbetts.

Now moving onto physical evidence. Brown says DNA proves #MollieTibbetts had direct contact with CBR's Malibu. Plus Mollie being found in the cornfield where CBR said she'd be found. @KCCINews #bahenariveratrial

"He never puts two men in the Malibu" when he has the chance to, Brown says. Says CBR had the ability to clean the Malibu between the crime and DCI finding it. There could have been more blood. "Mollie's blood shouldn't have been in there anywhere." @KCCINews #bahenariveratrial

I'm no attny but I believe it's possible for him to change his plea at any point before the jury reaches a verdict.

Who the heck is the defense attorney talking to?

IF I am not mistaken, she was speaking to the defendant. There was a yellow piece of paper that he passed to Ms. Frese, who then passed it to Mr. Frese. He (CBR) appears to be looking down at his lap periodically. I am wondering if he might have a notepad?

Good Morning everyone !!
I am here for Mollie today !!!

I've been following along -- saw DJ's boss on stand and now listening to prosecutor closing arguments.

I am a little worried about verdict-- can't really pinpoint why, just have an uneasy feeling but hopefully that will change after Prosecution's closing argument.

Mollie's DNA is in the trunk of his car - state and defense agrees to that.

State saying that July 18-August 21 CBR has control of the car, he could have cleaned more blood, etc. But he didnt get it all.

He is not going to show the graphic images again. But he is showing the one where the body is covered, only running shoes are visable.

Brown shows photo of Tibbetts' body under the corn. Says they haven't been moved, haven't been disturbed after being put over her.

Brown: CBR tells investigators he covered her with corn. Just as this shows. "Again, not involving two other guys. It corroborates his confession. He knows that."

The interpreters aren’t talking into a boot. I wonder if they can be heard quietly in the background. I would find that distracting.

  • #914
CBR is much more animated today, very nervous. He keeps shaking his legs. He keeps looking around.

Brown says jury can look at motive - candor, bias, but it's not necessary to prove motive for first-degree murder.

"If not the defendant, who had the motive to kill #MollieTibbetts?" "He tells us. Anger is a pretty good one."

The prosecution can offer a plea deal at any time. But usually once a trial starts, a prosecutor isn't going to offer anything. A defendant can change a plea at anytime, but a judge may not accept it once a trial is underway.

That brief photo with her hand sticking out under the corn. Ugh. That is heartbreaking.

BBM- and he lead them directly to the body IN THE DARK. Pretty good memory for someone who "blacks out".
