In an order issued Monday, Judge John Judge issued a partial stay of proceedings. Kohberger’s attorneys had requested a stay of the proceedings in June, saying they intended to argue that there were issues with the grand jury. In his decision, Judge said that because the defense had only received the clerk’s record and recording of the grand jury materials on July 6, and that the transcript wouldn’t be available until July 21, it was premature for the defense to argue issues with the proceedings. [...]

Kohberger’s next scheduled court appearance is a motions hearing on August 18.

The U of I spokesperson just confirmed that the school chose October because that is when #BryanKohberger’s trial is currently set (Oct. 2)… I asked, “What if the trial is delayed?” and she said “We will reconsider at that point.”

Important Prosecution responses to the Motions to Compel concerning the Elantra/CAST documents and examiners. Long of the short of it is, they are denoting the Bates Stamp numbers that reference what has been provided concerning these requests as well as summarizing progress on related requests. Discovery on a case like this is voluminous. The Defense has and will continue to get all evidence in the case allowed by law as well they should.

That grad student claims that Kohberger’s fellow PhD students begin tracking his behaviors that bothered them, especially what they saw as disrespect towards female professors.

The alleged “disrespect” noted by the group included “how many times he interrupted female professors and skipped their classes,” says the grad student.

That decision to track Kohberger’s behavior could pay off for prosecutors in the upcoming murder trial since it allegedly noted that the man suspected of killing four people in the early morning hours of Sunday, Nov. 13 did not attend class on Monday, Nov. 14.

LATAH COUNTY, Idaho (Scripps News Boise) — The prosecution in the case against Bryan Kohberger is requesting specific deadlines be set for trial preparation in the latest court filings.

Prosecutors have also petitioned the court to rescind the additional 37-day extension granted earlier this month, unless Kohberger’s defense team waives the right to a speedy trial altogether.

Genetic genealogy and DNA, which were used to identify Bryan Kohberger, are at the center of the University of Idaho Four student murders case.

Court documents revealed a potential defense Kohberger’s team may use at trial to persuade the jury the accused Idaho Four student killer is not the right guy.

The defense claims DNA on the knife sheath was “planted.”
