That may be how some interpret this but WEBSLEUTHS is very explicit in who can be talked about and who cannot. Unless LE names anyone a POI or suspect, we are not able to insinuate or speculate about possible involvement.

If this keeps happening on the thread, it’ll be shut down and that would really suck right after a presser because people can’t follow simple rules that have been posted on this thread alone at least a dozen times in the past hour.
Great post, thanks!

Oh I’m sure they woke up after the attack began. Maybe I should have made it clear that I find it odd that all were asleep at the start of the attack.
I guess it would be far easier to initially subdue a sleeping person, that’s probably when we are at our most vulnerable. How that person knew everyone was asleep is another thing. Maybe they just got lucky on that front.

It was early in the morning. Vast majority of people would be asleep at the time.
I’m not making myself clear haha. I would think that a killer would want to look their target in the eyes, or have their target look at them, as they started their attack.

<snipped> Coroner Has New Details About Fatal Slaying of 4 U of Idaho Students After Autopsies

Mabbutt said that the victims showed "little bit of bruising" but "nothing significant." She added that some bruising "wouldn't be uncommon during a stabbing."

Mabbutt couldn't say how many times each victim was stabbed but said it was safe to say each of them had multiple wounds. She declined to say where on the body they were stabbed and later clarified that the victims were stabbed in different places and a different amount of times.

Mabbutt said it was likely the four had bled out in the home.

She said DNA samples have been taken from the scene and are being processed. When pressed, she said it was "possible" that some of the DNA being tested may not be of the four victims.

"There were nail clippings that were taken, and other ones that are being sent off, and so that will be processed," she said.
Nail clippings hopefully bring DNA findings.
But if perp is not in a database could be a long one.

I have thought that all along. It was someone they knew. Someone that knew the house. If everyone was in bed with lights out, how would a random person know where to go. Maybe I am overthinking it, but I could not go into a random house that I have never been inside of and navigate my way through the dark with out bumping into stuff.
Maybe he wore infrared goggles or a headlamp?

Why? It would be hard for one person to attack and kill four people at ones if all were awake at the beginning of the attack.

And drunk.. question: when did other kids arrive in the house.. and call 911? Who were they? If they saw an "unresponsive person" as reported on 911.. wouldn't they have been horrified at what they saw of the blood, stabbing?
That information has not been released.

From step 1 this case is very hard. BUT once you find out who the main target is, it becomes much easier.

In the unlikely fact that this was random, this becomes very difficult to solve.
How would they determine who the target was before having a suspect? Many people are suggesting K as the likely target. If so, it's possible that K's body would show signs of having the most severe knife injuries, consistent with the perp directing his sick "attention" on her. If all victims have similar injuries, it seems more tricky.

So in the conference today they mentioned they believe it was targeted due to looking at the, "totality of the circumstances" at the crime scene. They also wouldn't comment on who they believe was targeted because of the ongoing investigation.(I wish the reporters followed up with the right questions)

I think they know who it was that was targeted. My question would be what the totality of circumstances he was referring to. Obviously there's the level of violence that would be used against one of the victims compared to other victims. I'm wondering what else. It's been awhile since my college days, do college kids still put up pictures on their walls? Maybe one of the pictures was taken down and ripped up? Or maybe somebody's purse or keys was thrown across the room in anger? Could it be text messages in relation to the outbound phone calls that were made that haven't been made public?

I'm just getting the impression they probably have a strong suspect and that person is under 24 hour surveillance as we speak.
when asked if the killer was "still in Moscow or somewhere else" they said they are looking all over....

If it was targeted, the killer likely wore gloves (no fingerprints) but a glove can fall off and be left behind. Wondering if any DNA evidence will be found.

Is there MSM to say that a friend arrived after the fact? I don't think that was ever mentioned other than 'friends' being there, whether before or after the fact. Can you provide a link?
I didn't say a friend arrived after the fact. I am disagreeing with a poster who said that the roommates called friends to come over before calling 911. So, I don't believe that. Friends could have arrived at the sliding door as I speculated, or they could have been there with the roommates all night or from sometime in the morning. I can't link to my clearly stated " I think......maybe" or to "IMO".

Why do we think they scheduled both the presser today and the one on Wednesday last night? Just to give the community updates and let us know what is planned ahead of time?
That and I think they're desperately trying to calm the students and residents in Moscow. Don't forget the world is watching also, lots of pressure.

I think so. I said earlier I think it’s just to show face, and to reassure the public & families that they’re doing everything they can etc. JMO
