First time poster! I’m sure this has been discussed but with so many posts I couldn’t find the info!

First question do we know how big E is?

MOO the person responsible has to have some type of experience, it seems there was some stealth involved to not wake anyone, also know how to render them fairly helpless that they didn’t get up to fight. Again MOO Ethan was first attacked, he was biggest physical threat, X was woken hence had reported defence wounds according to her dad.

To me this seems like the person knew who was home in the top two floors as they all reportedly came home roughly the same time.

The roommates home earlier so they may not have known they in the house or that there was two lower rooms.

To me this makes me lean away from J as from what we have seen he isn’t a big guy, E could of overpowered him.

This person MOO is bigger, experienced in hunting and or anatomy, confident of caught off guard could still continue if a struggle.

Regarding the phone calls, K could of slightly intod tried calling him, if moving interstate wanting to take the dog with her, we all have done a drunk call with determination to an ex with some Dutch courage, M may have called too to say to him can you just talk to her to calm her down.

Wow, I am so sorry, I can't find the link now. I just looked for like 20 mins. I'm going to alert a mod to my post for deletion since the link is gone. I DID read an interview with this tenant on a news website.
I found it!

A source that used to live in the house for three years and attend University of Idaho, and is remaining anonymous due to safety reasons, tells KTVB that there are two bedrooms on each of the floors of the three-story home, and a slider door that leads out the back.

The source said that around 20 feet from the slider door, near the kitchen, is a bedroom, then stairs to third floor is close by. The slider door leads out to a backyard that backs up to a remote area.

It would be hard to hear anything from the bottom level, he said, because they are below the living room. In his time living there -- from 2012 to 2015 -- roommates often had parties on the second floor or music turned up loud towards the front end of the house, the source said.”

Almost all serial killers engage in some form of targeting in my opinion. They look for something that triggers their fixation, it could be height, weight, hair color, etc etc. Of course there can be an element of randomness, but the target generally plugs into their obsession. IMO
JMO.

Good post!

In the very early reporting, the crime was referred to as “isolated and targeted” and the mayor called it a “crime of passion“ (a term I intensely dislike).

The phrasing implied that the targeting was due to an existing personal relationship. LE has walked that back since then.

LE is still saying this is targeted. I’m interested in what they mean now when they use that term.

JMO.

In comparing the friend lists of KG and MM on Instagram, it’s interesting that KG wasn’t following her ex, JD, while MM (and XC — couldn’t tell if EC was, his account is private) were all still following him.

I bring this up not to cast suspicion on JD, as LE has been clear about that not being their position, but to add context to the flurry of phone calls from both girls’ phones the night of the murders. Trying to get in touch via MM’s phone makes sense, as it seems like she remained a neutral to him (from a social media standpoint). JMO, of course.

BBM. Have they really though? They did not say anything about him in the prepared part of the PC and it seems that all agencies worked and proof-read on that portion that specifically cleared the 3-4 so individuals. J was not among them. What he did say in the Q&A portion was that the calls were not related. That could mean any number of things, including that the wheels were in motion before the calls, for example. JMO but I don't believe LE's statements were intended to mean that he was cleared, just that the calls were cleared as being not related to the crime. You have to remember that the girls made those calls, so does not necessarily follow that the recipient is cleared too. IMO.

I have experience with this breed and dog training in general across the last 11 years. Dogs are much like humans - we all share traits within our species but individually we are all very, very different. By all accounts the roommates and what we know of them were very friendly, social, outgoing etc. If that dog stayed in that house frequently with them then I don’t think it is beyond the realms of possibility that he would not be fazed at all by people coming and going from that house at any time of day/night. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if the dog was also very friendly and social himself. But that’s JMO.
Thanks for the response. Like I said it was the only time I've interacted with this breed. I personally love dogs but this dog in particular actually annoyed me with the amount of constant barking. It's not a mean dog by any means btw. I think most of the barking is just trying to get your attention. But of course this is one specific case and obviously doesn't mean anything in the grand scheme of things.

If Captain Anderson ruled out that the dog skinning is unrelated, the only way he could know that is if he knows who did this.

My opinion.
dog skinning??? Please explain!

I agree and this would explain how killer gained access to a potentially locked bedroom without breaking it down... E may have peeked out, can t remain a witness, then bedroom door gets locked up again on killer's way out

Moo
Friendly reminder there was also that photo that came out pretty quickly into the investigation through MSM with the screen off of one of the windows on the second floor. We don't know if it was taken off by perps or investigators however.

WELCOME TO WEBSLEUTHS!
No, it would mean he knows who skinned the dog and has ruled them out in this crime.
*shrug* Solving a crime either way!

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! Thought I was going nuts for a minute there!

Thanks. Technically it doesn’t mention it is “soundproof” as such, I guess when I read @NeverPersonal ’s post stating a previous inhabitant said it was soundproofed - my mind kind of went somewhere to something like it had been renovated to be professionally soundproofed, if that makes sense? I take this to mean there was definitely still the possibility of hearing noise, as opposed to complete soundproofing where you would be guaranteed to not hear anything outside of that area. JMO.

Bold and color emphasis by me. 1122 King Rd, Moscow, ID 83843 | Trulia

I am sure this has been covered in the hundreds of pages and I have tried to keep up. But this jumped out at me. Not sure what to make of this but pets were clearly not allowed. I was looking for any clues on soundproofing. Pretty bold to have a dog LIVE there if no pets are allowed?
I believe this is why the dog was "co-owned". Kaylee was only visiting the house for a weekend at this time, as well, to show Maddie her new car

Has anyone ever thought that the police know M&K arrived after 1:52 and that E&X arrived after 2am and maybe they think the SP is the one who arrived at 1:45 and waited… and that’s why they are saying that… in an effort to get video of the SP entering at that time.
Great thinking.
. I totally agree

Did we ever hear more details about the Range Rover Kaylee recently bought? Might have missed it but it sounds like she didn't have a job... A car is a huge purchase for a college student, especially if she didn't have a steady job. Curious where that money came from
Her dad indicated she had been offered a great job (maybe following an internship, not sure, that part was unclear to me). Some employers offer signing bonuses. Additionally, she might have had cash gifts coming is as graduation presents. Just a couple guesses.

I'm wondering if they would have extended the crime scene because media/onlookers were getting too close to the house and they were concerned about privacy. We've seen images through the windows that show the red tape - maybe they are just broadening to keep prying eyes from easily seeing their every move. There seems to be an influx of activity at the house over the last couple of days, with BAU and others. All just speculation
Good thought! My only counter is that the Daily Mail, etc. probably have telescopic lenses that rival the Hubble telescope or whatever, but I hope you are right and it's not been deemed part of a crime scene, which could have had journalists hanging out trees or whatever! MOO.

Or, moo he was intent in killing everyone he could, just did not get to the ground floor for whatever reason.
The FBI guy interviewed last night on CNN gave the most insight I have heard so far as to how the investigation is going and the vital importance of Profiling for a lead on this case.
I’ll repost the link. Quite a unique interview with Rosemary Church CNN.
To paraphrase in part he said that we would probably not be able to guess the killers motives because he doesn’t think like we do. He may have killed only the 4 because that was enough for him….

<modsnip - quoted post was off topic>
I wonder if K & M's calls to Jack (co-owner of the dog with K) were because the dog was acting strangely. Maybe the dog was growling, barking, or exhibiting some very unusual behavior that night and they were trying to get ahold of Jack to let him know something seemed wrong with their dog.

Yeah, they can be highly strung but that’s true for any breed. I think until we get any info direct from LE regarding the dogs whereabouts at the time then everything is pretty much on the table. But you would have to think a dog constantly barking for a long period would have drawn attention from somewhere.

I see some still speculating that Ethan (or Xana) woke up while Kaylee and/or Maddie were being killed and went out to investigate, leading to their murders. LE has stated that all victims were likely asleep when attacked.

“The four University of Idaho students who were found stabbed multiple times in their off-campus home were "likely asleep," before they were attacked, Moscow, Idaho, police said in a Friday evening update.
