Tell your dad Thank you for me Idaho-this case has been KILLING me. If your dad can think of anything that the little girls might need and can come up with a place to send it, I would be delighted to send some treats on behalf of my three cuties who will never ever know this kind of pain....

I agree about the article, Salem. They tried to play it off as not being connected, but whatever.

My dad was at the fundraiser this past weekend. He said that there was so many people there it was unbelieveable. There may be a lot of crap that goes on, but when someone needs help, people step up big time. I'll get a number on the amount raised as soon as I can. :)

Respectfully snipped for space.

Idaho - give you dad a hug for me and let him and anyone he cares to share with, know that there are many of us out here in cyberland that support him and the community in their efforts to help these young girls.

Salem

PS - Believe - you have a great heart!

Thanks for the link, I4G. My heart just breaks for Kyra and her sister. I cried when I read that part of Kyra's foot has had to be removed. It's unbelievable to me that a mother could ever allow this type of physical deterioration in her child to go without medical care. I feel almost certain that if someone hadn't stepped up and reported this to police, Kyra wouldn't be with us today.

I'm grateful to all in the community that have stepped up to help. These girls are going to need professional counseling, for awhile, I'm guessing. I think the State of Idaho ought to step and cover those expenses --- it seems like it's the least they can do, afterall.

Do you know if Kyra is still hospitalized?

Found an update on charges against the two perps that I don't believe has been posted.

St. Maries, Id. -- The St. Maries couple charged with severely abusing their 3-year-old toddler will face additional charges.

Bear in mind, that the article is from the 16th of July.

ETA: I just went to the St. Maries Gazette Record and see on the front page that this piece of work of a so-called mother, Chrisina Haynes, has been released from jail. (I'm not able to read the article as I'm not a subscriber but I'll see what I can find elsewhere.)

Damn, I'm not at my dad's so I don't have our Gazette Record subscription password. I'll have him email it to me and hopefully be able to get that article up by tomorrow.

Also, thank you Tricia, Believe, Salem, and Liz for your kind thoughts and words. Believe, I'm not sure about an address to send things to them personally, but I will look around and see what I can find. I know there is a bank account for monetary donations, which might already be posted here, but if it's not I'll get more info on that too.

Finally got the passwords. Here is the article. Boy is it a good read. I hope what Mr Payne said was just to get the judge to rethink letting her out. All other reports have said Kyra is doing well.

Haynes gets release from jail

A woman accused of severely abusing her three-year-old daughter, Kyra, will be released from the Benewah County Jail as soon as her bond issues are resolved.

Despite arguments from the prosecutor to keep Christina Haynes incarcerated, Judge Pat McFadden accepted a request by her attorney to use $75,000 in real property in lieu of the $200,000 bail he set last month.

At a Monday hearing defense attorney Dave Rogers said he wanted to ask the court to release Haynes on her own recognizance because she wasn’t a flight risk.

Instead Haynes’ grandmother offered her property to ensure that her granddaughter wouldn’t flee if she was released from jail where she has been since mid-June.

“She has no prior record, she no longer has a home, she no longer has a job,” said Mr. Rogers. “I would like her to see a doctor.”

He said the woman would live in Post Falls with her mother and stepfather. Both are certified foster parents.

[snip]

Mr. Payne (prosecuting attorney) said he met with physicians who said the three-year old is being prescribed methadone and is still “suffering miserably.”

“She still has open wounds five or six weeks later, she’s had multiple amputation surgeries,” he said. “It’s as serious a child abuse case as I have seen in my career.”

Wow! Are they giving Kyra methadone because these POSs were shooting her up? I have never heard of methadone being used as a pain killer, only as a way to get some one off meth and/or heroin.

What does this mean? Were they shooting her up with heroin so that they could continue to abuse her and she would not cry? UGHGGHGHGHGHGHGH

I have to tell you, if I met this woman on the street, I would go to jail. There is no way I would be able to keep my mouth shut, and given that I am not really a quiet person to begin with, anyone else on that street would hear whatever I said.

FOR PAIN.........

Methadone is a synthetic opioid with potent analgesic effects. Although it is associated commonly with the treatment of opioid addiction, it may be prescribed by licensed family physicians for analgesia.

Methadone's unique pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics make it a valuable option in the management of cancer pain and other chronic pain, including neuropathic pain states. It may be an appropriate replacement for opioids when side effects have limited further dosage escalation. Metabolism of and response to methadone varies with each patient.

Thank you Tom's Girl! I did not know this. I appreciate your clarification. I thought maybe the evil parents were giving her drugs on top of everything else.

Just heard on KXLY that Haynes did get released due to her grandmother putting her property up! I can't believe they would even consider allowing Haynes to stay at her mom and step-fathers --- IF they are foster parenting at this time!

Thanks for the article update, I4G! Will post more tomorrow. Too tired tonight.

Methadone is used as a pain killer in extreme cases. Meaning extreme pain. This is so tragic.

if mom and step dad are foster parents they need their license taken away then for not reporting the condition of that child! and why are they letting this child abuser anywhere near other children?
i bet grandmaw ends up losing her property.....

  • #114

I don't understand why you would think Christina's mom and step-father should have their foster care licenses taken away, because of Christina's negligence. I just don't get that.

BUT, I sure hope and pray they are not currently fostering any children, while Christina is living with them. I think that would be a huge mistake!

Because they failed their grandchild by not reporting what was going on with her...unless they live hours away and did not see their granddaughter but a couple times a year

I think they deserve the benefit of the doubt. I highly doubt most grandparents would turn their head(s) to abuse of a grandchild; but especially not to that as horrific as Kyra's.

The grands live in Post Falls and the grandchildren lived in St. Maries. I'm guessing its a couple hours drive.

Spokane's KXLY report about Haynes release:

Kyra Wine's mother released from jail
Posted: July 31, 2008 08:05 PM PDT
Updated: July 31, 2008 08:07 PM PDT

ST. MARIES, Idaho - The mother accused in one of the worst cases of child abuse in the Inland Northwest is now out of jail.

The above report states that Christina's boyfriend, Charlie Smith, is being held on a $25,000 bond, which I'm sure is incorrect. I'm almost positive he's being held on a quarter million dollar bond.

IIRC, I read 'somewhere' that Charlie Smith's court date is Sept 12th.

Also, according to KXLY, Kyra is still hospitalized. (Gee, I wonder if mommy dearest is allowed to visit Kyra????)
