Wednesday, June 26th:
*Trial continues (Day 30) (@ 8:30am MT) - ID – Daralyn Renée Johnson (9) (missing Feb. 21, 1982, found Feb. 24, 1982, Nampa. Her body, which had been sexually assaulted & beaten, was found in a shallow drainage ditch along the Snake River in Melba by a group of fishermen. Johnson sustained blunt force trauma to the head & torso, but ultimately died from drowning) - *David Allen Dalrymple (24 @ time of crime/62/now 66) charged (5/4/20) & formally charged & re-arraigned (10/27/22) with felony 1st degree murder & felony rape. Plead not guilty. No bond. DA will not seek DP.
Trial began on 5/13/24.
Canyon County District Judge Thomas Whitney presiding. Canyon County Deputy Prosecutor Theodore Lagerwall. Defense attorney Jesse James.

It makes me sad there wasn’t more news coverage, but I’m so grateful there was finally justice for Daralyn & her loved ones with the conviction.

I too am surprised that there was more coverage - for case this old - you would think it would have had more articles.

The man recently convicted of raping and killing a 9-year-old Nampa girl in 1982 will spend the rest of his life in prison. David Dalrymple, 66, was sentenced to consecutive life terms Friday by 3rd District Judge Thomas Whitney, who called Dalrymple’s crimes “heinous in the extreme,” according to a news release from the Canyon County Prosecutor’s Office.

Whitney said that Dalrymple, who spent two decades behind bars after committing several violent crimes, was “a remorseless, repeat, violent sexual abuser of children ... incapable of rehabilitation.” By imposing a sentence with no possibility of parole, the judge said he could ensure that Dalrymple never attacks a child again.
