More information from the video. At about :35 seconds into the video, the reporter says the parents thought Deorr was with Grandpa back at camp, Grandpa thought he was with the parents.

I also wondered about an animal dragging him away. Anyone know what wildlife would be out there? Mountain lions?

Sad to be another night without him, I pray he's cuddled up somewhere safe and that he's found unharmed. I can not imagine what his parents and Grandpa are going through.

The news is reporting that the search has been suspended. It does not indicate if it was just suspended for the night (last night) or if suspended for good.

Lemhi County dispatchers did not provide any additional information about the search suspension - including when search efforts may resume.

How do you call off a search for a 2 year old after just 2 days and covering only a 2 mile radius? If there are not going to be any official searches, I hope some volunteers step in and take over the search. I would certainly be there if I lived in the area.

Have we heard anything from Deorr's parents?

This is the same link I posted up the thread, post #36. The last statement from the reporter, she said the current search was suspended but that another search would begin in a week - another experienced team would be there in the woods.

Why wouldn't they continue to search while the next search team assembles? I wouldn't be able to sit around while my child was missing!

I don't understand why they're suspending the search for a week. That's so scary and just crazy. Anything could happen to little Deorr in that time. Hopefully, others are keeping a search going! Strength to his parents and family as they continue this nightmare.

I'd be much more worried about water. Water in all its forms (rivers, creeks, lakes, ponds, etc.) is a magnet for little kids. :-(

That was my first thought too. But now it is said another search team will come in, so that wouldn't make sense if they knew he didn't just wander off.


But why would a new search team only come in one week? This sounds just ludicrous. Have they already decided that he can't possibly be alive anymore?

Maybe they meant during the week not in a week? Like the search on Sunday (weekend) was called off and a new team would be coming in today (during the week). Just a thought because waiting a week just seems crazy!

We go camping all the time but I have a 10 and 11 year old that help me with my 3 year old that is always exploring.

Also I always put a florescent green jacket on my son and when not wearing his bright jacket I make sure his clothes are bright because you never know.

And I hope they are still searching, I can tell you if my child I would be searching and no one would stop me.

I'm surprised that there isn't more searching going on near or in the water. My gut tells me he is in the water. This case really bothers me. We are a big camping family and usually camp in unincorporated areas. We can go 3-4 days without seeing anyone. I am on constant high alert with my kids and at age 2, they start carrying whistles. We've always followed the rule that kids can hike up to their age in miles -- so 2 miles, but in the case, I think they should at least be searching 4 miles. Either he curled up in a hiding place after he got tired of walking or he is in the water. I pray that they find him soon.

I think she meant her kids have a whistle when they are camping and then a second point was made about a general rule that when a child is missing you can expect they are able to walk their age in miles so since he was 2 that would be 2 miles.

This fb post mentions two possible vehicles. I am thinking they suspended the search because they may have eye witness accounts of the boy being seen with someone.

OK I don't like the idea of waiting for a whole week to search for a 2-year-old missing child - LE must know something we don't (otherwise they'd no doubt have lawsuits on their hands from the family of the child).

This news article says "been suspended for an undetermined amount of time.

No explanation has been provided as to why the search was suspended. Sheriff Lynn D. Bowerman has not responded to requests for comment."

That is, in my opinion, rather peculiar....

Umm .. I think you know I didn't mean that. First, the whistle is in case they get lost or are out of site. Blow your whistle and stay in one spot. We also use them to make noise if someone sees a bear. Second, kids can hike a lot further than most people think. I could easily see Deorr walking 2 miles OR more. I think the 2 mild radius isn't large enough.
