In the unedited version the sheriff states that scent specific trailing dogs were utilized as soon as they arrived. One was actually his dog and one from Salmon PD. It doesn't get much better then that.

On another interesting note he uses the word "crime scene" to describe the campsite. 2:40.

Does anybody happen to know the name of that reservoir? I would like to take some time and try to find some close up pictures to see just how clear the water really is. TIA

Please note that there are two Stone Reservoirs in Idaho. I did some searching around and the only pictures I could find were the other, larger reservoir, which is down by Utah.

At 8:55 of the unedited version the deputy is mumbling something.. what is he saying? The Sheriff goes on to say bears and wolves ran through the campsite while the searchers were there. At the end of the interview he was asked if he was comfortable saying a crime was committed he said no, absolutely not. He is not comfortable saying it or he doesnt think so? Anyway, IMO, the FBI report will be released very soon if they have a suspect.. and we will hear about an arrest. In the meantime, the FBI, i am sure will be contacting the sheriff to update, ask for any additional info etc. jmo

My comment hasn't been approved yet, but this is what I posted under the article:

What happpened to the restaurant, the French fries, the old man who started at DeOrr and made Jessica feel "eery"? No receipts or eyewitnesses there? How about the "6 pm" sighting? If that was ruled out by LE, they should say say. All we've heard is the parents have ruled it out even though they believe he was abducted.

I find it very interesting that the Sheriff says he does NOT believe DeOrr was abducted, but doesn't say what he DOES think happened, only that he hopes he'll be found by hunters.

I appreciate this report, but it is by no means an "extensive interview". I thought reporters were supposed to ask questions.

Here's a few: what evidence makes you 99% DeOrr was at the campground?

Did DeOrr Sr and Jessica specifically ask Grandpa to watch DeOrr?

Was Grandpa physically able to chase after DeOrr if DeOrr had ran towards the creek with the embankment that was right next to their campsite?

Was there a fire going at the time DeOrr vanished?

What specifically was DeOrr doing at the time his parents left the campsite?

Why haven't photos and detailed descriptions been released of DeOrr's clothes he was wearing when he vanished? (Or photos of similar items) Jessica has posted info saying his boots were camo, and it was said his boots were "oversized" - what does that mean? How can searchers know if they've found a relevant clue without these details?

What vehicles and equipment were at the campground? Campers, tents, ATVs?

Who drove there?

What were the sleeping arrangements?

Was DeOrr "filthy and crying" when they purchased the items on the receipt? Have the parents explained why he was so upset?

Was Jessica seen in Leadore when they purchased the items? (follow up to DeOrr Sr's assertion that they went to Leadore "as a family" before 1 pm and that's why the 6 pm sighting was not possible)?

What time did the receipt indicate the purchases were made?

How long was DeOrr actually missing before 911 was called? Jessica said he had been missing for an hour when she called 911 at 2:28 pm but later reports said 10 min, 20 min, 4 min, and now "a second" when Grandpa turned his head.

Was any shred of evidence found anywhere? A footprint, a toy?

Was there a car seat in the black truck?

Those are just a few things many people are still wondering about...

Not sure if they used all 3. This article mentions scent and cadaver dogs were used:

“Numerous resources, including helicopters with FLIR, diver’s, side scan sonar, scent dogs, cadaver dogs, horses, ATV’s, and over 300 people, were used,” Bowerman said, “With absolutely no sign of the victim.”

Thanks. Who knows what type(s) they used besides cadaver dogs.

I wonder, if Deorr were carried off, that might throw of air scenting dogs, maybe confuse them? Just thinking out loud...

Honeybun, I'm on Google Earth looking down at the reservoir, and it's murky as heck.

.

I think it should be obvious the child did not walk in the open space toward where the parents were exploring , because they would have met him on the way back.

So either the child went immediately down the embankment to the creek and disappeared from sight , or walked in the opposite direction on road 172A , but was no longer on the road 1/2 hour later when the father made the trip to get cell phone signals

It leaves the possibility the child could have entered the creek a long ways downstream . Did searchers exhaustively clear the creek that far down ? I have not heard

Furthermore , the (creek) search should start as far as possible downstream , then systematically work upstream toward the campground , that way the water remains clear .... otherwise mud and silt and debris and sticks and leaves will be stirred up and hide everything.

If I was there searching I would begin a mile downstream and methodically work toward the campsite. That is the most logical place for the child to be.

There are other possibilities , but not nearly as logical.

Its the same in mine.

Yours on left, mine on right.

This is getting confusing. Jules, I was responding to a post by TruthWillOut. http://www.websleuths.com/forums/sh...ground-10-July-2015-8&p=12007109#post12007109. Their map has the stream in the wrong place. Your map is the same as mine.

Please don't start again like yesterday, it's worse than hearing my kids squabble and I've had quite enough of that today!

My take is that the sheriff is not a very good liar, and for some reason, probably strategic, he's withholding the full truth in a number of places. There's something about the surveillance cameras, the store, and the receipt that he wasn't being completely forthcoming about. Something about the cremains and the layout of the campground. Something about the timeline. I thought he seemed clearly relieved that the FBI was involved.

OMG I am listening to the Sheriff in the unedited video and he's talking about the man staring at DeOrr and saying if we had to go check out every person staring at you or someone it would be difficult to track all those down.

Well this isn't just you or someone, THIS IS A MISSING CHILD -- SO YOU GO CHECK IT OUT fgs!!

The unedited video also says they took "2 track dogs" out right away. One was Bowerman's, the other was Salmon PD's. They we're given scent to track. They went from the cg to reservoir and back to cg.

Honeybun, I'm on Google Earth looking down at the reservoir, and it's murky as heck.

Do you happen to have a link so I can look at it. TIA. Now I am really confused with their being two Stone Reservoirs. Darn.

If all of the above is true, why do you think the sheriff said the opposite?

If you listen to the unedited version it seems the sheriff said that the 2 dogs that went there initially went from the campground to the reservoir then back to the campground. A couple of days later they brought cadaver dogs and they kept hitting on the reservoir so that is when they did a more extensive search of the reservoir. The cremains were deposited after the initial search on Friday, i believe. What is weird is that now he is saying grandpa thought the baby went over the embankment. Really? So, he cant run without his oxygen, i would guess and so what did he do? Just sit there and pretend there was no missing child? I think that is, by FAR the oddest part of the interview. JMO

The sheriff referred to the site as a crime scene twice during the interview. Is this normal in a disappearance?

Please note that there are two Stone Reservoirs in Idaho. I did some searching around and the only pictures I could find were the other, larger reservoir, which is down by Utah.

I removed my picture and video. thank you.

This article certainly implies that that is not the case -- the trainer says she uses cremains to train dogs. If cremains have no smell, then why would they be used in training dogs?

http://tdn.com/news/local/a-little-...cle_72bccd80-9cca-11e2-8be0-0019bb2963f4.html

eta: another source saying the same thing http://www.pawsoflife.org/Library/Training/DeGreef_2011.pdf

A dog can be trained to track anything including ashes.

I think they are looking for a missing child , not cremation residue.
