Would a metal detector detect a zipper or a hot wheels car?

We can only speculate, if he was abducted, by human or animal, he could have wondered away from the family a good long ways before it ever happened. Or he could have been carried away outside the search area before they realized he was missing and during their initial search.

If it was a mountain lion, I don't know why it would need to eat clothing and all. With their sharp teeth and claws I would think it would be no problem to rip / shred them off for the most part.



I don't know that a mountain lion would eat a Hot Wheels car by choice, I would think when he realized it was too hard to bite through he might spit it back out. Then again stranger things have happened.

If you could ask DeOrr's parents some questions about the case, what would you ask?

"What do you feel people have most gotten wrong, and what would you like to tell them to clear up the misunderstandings or confusion?"

"Do you still feel that SB et al. have done their best (as you did in the beginning of the case)?"

"What do you most want people to know about little DeOrr?"

when you say lots of mountain lions in the news ... do you mean two? When you say all over the place ... do you mean Southern California? do you know the population of Southern California is close to 30 million people?

Is it just my imagination or is the frustration factor steadily increasing in this case ? It seems clear that the only thing that can help is for LE to give the public an update. Such as the results of the FBI behavioral analysis and the analysis of the other evidence that was turned over to them, including the analysis of the polygraphs that were done. Surely they have them by now. That and anything solid regarding any of the leads they have, if they have anything at all. Wishful thinking? Yeah, probably. :sigh:

My guess would be that LE will not release any information unless it suits their purposes which could mean determining DeOrr's whereabouts or simply getting reelected.

That's actually a great idea. I'm not sure if they have done this. But it could help for sure. Something so little like a hot wheels car could easily IMO fall and get covered by leaves and such that it'd be easy to miss.

Notice how it drags it's captured prey across the ground

I think a Lion would carry a child the same way , which would leave a tracking scent , and boots would fall off as evidence.

Very interesting to watch. I notice the mountain lion with its prey is casually walking down the street, not running as I had pictured in my mind. Deorr would be longer than a cat, it would seem, so there would be obvious drag marks. IMO.

After watching this, it further rules out a mountain lion attacking Deorr in my mind. I have never thought this was a possibility. Now I am sure it did not happen.

I realize all mt.lions will act differently and no two kills will be the same. If a mt.lion had snatched him, there would have to be blood droplets in the area.

Mountain lions are being attracted to populated areas because of the availability of prey, mostly household pets. Even then they appear in relatively small numbers in proportion to the population. Imagine how small the overall mountain lion population would be where it is more challenging to find prey, water and shelter. We can deduce it would be unlikely for DeOrr to encounter a mountain lion in the relatively small confines of the campground.

Probably not much is impossible. It may be possible DeOrr encountered mountain lion especially if he wandered well beyond the campground. It could be possible no drag marks would be visible, but unlikely. It's not an absolute there would be visible blood, but it's likely.

All that having been said it's unlikely a mountain lion attack occurred even in this wilderness area. I believe the sheriff is well aware of this.

A closer look would show news of mountain lions in several other states, including Colorado, Kansas, and Oklahoma. The warnings from officials regarding children are supervise them at all times when outside and keep them inside from dusk until dawn. I guess those warnings must be because children ARE at risk.

Children are at risk from wolves, bears, water, exposure and human predators too...

Personally, from the reading I've done on mountain lions, I think that many websites exaggerate the danger posed by mountain lions because the people writing them have an agenda - the like hunting mountain lions, and want the laws restricting killing them to be eased. Yes a mountain lions can kill a human - they're wild animals, and predatory ones at that, of course they sometimes kill humans. But they usually don't see humans as a food source and prefer other prey, and that's why mountain lion attacks are so rare imo. I've read many demonstrably untrue things online about the habits of mountain lions, and even seen people falsely representing stuffed mountain lions as real ones in order to make a point.
