Did they ever find the blanket, toy truck etc?

In the interview with Nate July 13 Jessica was holding the blanket. At 13:19 his parents say that DeOrr never went anywhere without his blanket, his cup or his monkey and that all three were at the campground. But Dad refers to the blanket as "an exact replica of a security blanket." No mention of a toy truck.

Please, please, please. Everyone here should always remember this. No one EVER has to answer questions, PERIOD! Not under ANY circumstances!

If someone is lying and/or withholding information about a crime they witnessed and/or took part in, could he/she be charged with obstruction of justice?

  • #525
Mom had the blanket during the first interview with Nate. Unless it was a ... replica.

DK said it was a "replica." I really thought that was true because if anything would have been taken into evidence it would have been the little boy's blankie. Some people thought DK was using the wrong term and really meant something like--the epitome, or the real deal. Dunno.

Yes for lying, because they always had the right to be silent. No for withholding if the information being withheld would implicate them in a crime.

Editing to add, even though someone could be charged for obstruction if they lied - oftentimes it doesn't happen. It probably depends more on what extent the lie affects the investigation and the severity of the crime.

Just a thought. Are the parents still together?

My reasoning is on that interview, Dad was so in control the entire time. It seemed mom tried to say things and dad cut her off. I got the feeling mom was not going along with dad's story and at times was trying to interject an additional piece. He did not want her saying anything.

So, if they had gone their separate ways, she may be the witness who just came forward. She appeared to be so meek, it is hard to believe she was involved.

My opinions only.

I listened again and after saying it's a "replica", DK says that it's DeOrr's actual blanket, which is what JM had just finished saying. I dunno either. But I will say that DK certainly runs at the mouth!!

1) BLANKET (per DK)

"The blanket was in the truck, so Jessica now has got that blanket and she will not let go of it. She holds it, smells it, loves it," Kunz says. "It's the only attachment she has to that boy right now."
http://www.people.com/article/missing-boy-idaho-grandfather-speaks

2) BLANKET (per Mom during parents interview with Nate)

JM: This is his blanket. He doesn't go anywhere without his blanket, his cup, or his monkey, and all three of them were left at the campground. And since he..

DK: All three has to be with him.

JM: Yes.

DK: He will trip over them if he has to, but they are going with him, and this is the first time since he's been born, pretty much, that he's been without these things...and that's another reason why we were wondering.

JM: Yes, because this is the blanket that we brought him home in from the hospital, this is his, this is what comforts him and at all times.

DK: This is an exact replica of a security blanket, for everybody this is his actual blanket - he does not go anywhere without it, that's our other concern of why.

3) HOT WHEEL TRUCKS (per paternal Gpa who wasn't there...)

“He had little toy hot wheel trucks in his pocket and nothing fell. They found nothing. It’s like he vanished without a trace. He had to have been abducted. The only good thing about being abducted is it means he’s is still alive,” says Kunz.

4) HOT WHEELS CAR (per paternal grandpa who wasn't there...)

So far there has been no sign of Deorr anywhere near the campsite. On Thursday, his grandfather told HLN TV that Deorr had been playing with a toy hot wheels car on the afternoon of his disappearance.

TRUCK, MONKEY, CUP, BLANKET (per Nate)

Nate Eaton, you are right there at the search site in Idaho. We do know that this little boy had a Hot Wheels truck in his pocket. So that`s one thing did he have with him when he went missing.

NG: Any sight of that at all, which would be such a huge clue at this point?

EATON: Yes, it would be a huge clue. No sight of that. No sight of his toy monkey, of his cup, of his blanket. Those are three items his parents say he always takes with him wherever he goes. Those were left behind at the campsite. No sign of any of those things, no sign of his cowboy boots, of his camouflage jacket that he was wearing, of his pajama pants, nothing.

I wish you were right, but KI said that he was either killed via accident or intentionally. :(
How is falling into a hole NOT an accident?

I always thought he used the word "replica," really meaning "epitome." IMO

Falling into a hole is an accident not caused by another person. Klein may be referring to a person causing DeOrr's death by accident or intentionally. JMO

Just marking my spot... my .02 is that there isn't that much more progress in this case than there was a week or so after little DeOrr went missing. :(
Can't think why that is ; but my hunch is that he fell into a hole or slipped and went into some water -- and they just haven't found him yet.
IMO.
Apologies for the gloomy outlook.
I haven't forgotten about this little cutie.

He MAY be?

Klein is like an enigma wrapped in an riddle who then complains no one "gets me!"

Quoting my follow-up post, DK seemed to indicate that he meant "epitome" of a security blanket because he corrects himself. So I think you may be right.

Ha! Too funny. I've spent too many hours trying to figure out what he means!

Klein so talks in circles it is hard to know what he is trying to say. When he says accidental death, could he mean little Deorr simply wandered off and fell off a cliff/fell in the water, etc. and just has not been found?

I know! He throws out all these nefarious innuendos, then backtracks saying he's not sure if DeOrr’s 'death' was intentional or accidental. He says it remains to be investigated.

Newer article dated today at 3:10pm.

"Philip Klein, CEO of Klein Investigations and Consulting out of Nederland, Texas, said nearly two months of investigation into the disappearance of the boy has narrowed the scope of what could have happened.

One theory investigators have is that the 3-year-old died and his body could still be somewhere near the Timber Creek Campground in the Salmon-Challis National Forest.

“We’ve reconstructed this case from the ground up,” Klein said. “We’ve concluded this, it didn’t just pop out of the air.”

Whether DeOrr’s death was intentional or accidental remains to be investigated, Klein said."

Pop out of the air? Really?

Should I be worried that I do get him?

I was thinking the same thing. I have no problem understanding exactly what he is saying and where this case is heading. It is only now since he has narrowed it down to either accidental death or homicide, we can finally discuss it. He has narrowed the suspect pool down, too. There are 4 people who know what happened.

For him to bring up anything about a prosecution does mean this is headed toward criminal charges. The DA wouldn't consider it a case worth taking on if there was no evidence presented to them. Likewise if there was still any chance this child wandered off, the DA's office would not be involved...imo.

And this is really interesting from the written article from the interview with Klein just posted: (I missed it in watching)

"We are also concerned with other information from folks that have come forward regarding (auxiliary) issues up on the mountain that day.

What we are going to do is totally focus on those witnesses and those leads and we still have, I’d say, five maybe six really good active leads still working."

Wow.......

BBM:
He did say 'auxiliary' but I think he means ancillary issues instead. IOW, information 'in support of'. That would be the older couple that happened to be up on the mountain camping the day DeOrr disappeared. That is the same couple the Sheriff said he found again at a later date and had spoken with.

I hope I am allowed to say that this Klein person has not told us anything new except for conjecture. I place no faith whatsoever in him. That is just my personal opinion and nothing more. This man talks in circles and riddles as far as I'm concerned.
