Video from Jan. 2019. On camera with a chance to talk about his missing son! Not a word!

Do you think choosing to let go and move on is evidence of wrong doing?

The sheriff looked into it at the start. There were very few campers there. No one was around the family's site. And there was another extended family at the upper cAmpground. The sheriff interviewed them and looked into them. They were cooperative and it didn't seem probable that another family would grab a toddler, and none of them would say anything. JMOI realize it's not very likely, but I think the chance is above zero. I'm not sure how much work LE did to really rule it out altogether.

In all of the numerous cases I’ve followed of missing children, the parents never stop searching for them, even years and years later. Because there’s always that hope someone has them and they’re alive. They only stop searching if they know the child is deceased, or if they trafficked their child. The former is more often the case.(snipped for brevity)

Interesting .
The cold case is heating up again.
He says they won't give up.

The sheriff's office is confirming that a recent search may shed new light on the tragedy.
We talked to Sheriff Steve Penner about the case, and he says the case is not closed, in fact, far from it.
Just last month the Lemhi County Sheriff's Office had cadaver dogs at the campground, and again they had a hard hit on a previously searched area by the creek.
Sheriff Penner says they are just waiting for the water levels to drop, and then they will go in and do an extensive search on their hands and knees if necessary to comb through everything to try and find even the smallest of clues.
He says they won't give up.

I'd love to know what Nate Eaton thinks happened. He must have so much inside info.
To suggest they should still be searching for Deorr is absurd . The campground is way off the beaten path , the area has already been completely searched many times

I agree. Life has to go on, and making a tw0 hour drive to a place where nothing has changed over and over and over isn't helping anyone. It's just a waste of fuel, time, and energy; and for what? Is it their job to go on making good theatre for those who will still think the worst regardless?
As much as we've all grown used to horror stories of parents intentionally hurting children, it's still a rare thing to happen.
For what? For their missing child!! It's not an earring they've lost, it's their child.
I wonder if this is the same place Marshburn's dogs hit.
I thought that was a year ago? Has he been up there this year?
Yes.
Their missing child who will still be missing if they spend 7 days per week out looking for him.
Think about that for a moment. It means they're expected to:
-never take jobs that prevents them from spending at least three hours every day at that campground.
-spend at least three hours together, despite the fact they're no longer together. What fun!
-gas up the vehicle with enough extra gas to go out there everyday. How much does that cost???
-spend two hours driving, and revisiting all the worst emotions of the worst day of their lives. CPTSD, anyone? If they're normal parents who made a mistake & lost their child, do they deserve to lose their minds, too?
-drive to a place where there is nothing, and no one. That has already been searched high and low. Get out of the truck...and do what??? Yell? Walk 'round the same ol' path they walked 'round yesterday? Drive 'round all the little roads, looking for something hundreds of searchers missed? Climb the trees (and if one falls, does the other have to spend their life being blamed for that injury, too?)?
The parents do not have the resources to pay for helicopters and private trackers. They don't have the ability to do scuba searches of the waterway or send drones out for miles -and what would still be there to find, now? Only an expert will be able to tell if artifacts like bones are from a person, so are they expected to gather boxes of decomposed bunnies for analysis they can't afford? Clothing will be nothing but rotted rags, if there's anything at all (remember that animals use fabric for nesting material). Leather shoes and such will completely fall apart and be scattered, too. What will be there for them to find?
-drive home, empty handed, feeling like failures all over again. Try not to kill each other in the truck, because the whole world insists they have to go do it again tomorrow or they're monsters.
-rinse.repeat.lather…. forever???
The baby is not going to come wandering back to camp. For them to "keep searching" really isn't practical or even possible. It would just a be another tragic -and expensive- loss of life and sanity.
I think they're doing everything realistic. It's up to the police and other professionals who have the time, expertise, and skills to carry on the search and other investigations. It's also up to us -the people here- to help make sure the baby isn't forgotten, and the authorities don't shelve it until there are answers.
Where is the searching 3 hours a day, climbing trees etc. coming from? Hiring helicopters and private searchers? In fact, I have seen no one here recently saying the parents should be up at the campground searching. You seem to be making an argument against ideas that are not posted here.
So what? Poor taste does not a killer make.Vernal has a "Slippery When Wet" sticker on his van.
He pointed with pride to a sticker of the vlogger who was videoing him.
I see your point here. I really do. But.... I can also think of his POV and recognize he is entitled to have something in his life that is not connected to the awful memory of his missing son.But he can't take 10 seconds to put a missing poster of his son on his van.
Your prior contention was that LE did not consider seriously enough an abduction. Putting up missing posters seems a logical activity if that is the case.
