I was thinking the same. I would guess they had some supplies and maybe the baby is breast fed. Had to have been cold though.
Family of missing man in Owyhee County says his remains were found: 'His loss is going to be felt forever”
Sara Ontiveros, one of Rose's sisters, said in a statement, "Our family had hope, no matter how fantastical we had hope. Today we have lost that. We are going to support and love each other and his children while our minds and our hearts adjust to a world without Eric."
The family tells KTVB that a miner found Rose's remains under a tree.
I shouldn't be surprised by this, but I suppose I had some hopes that he was still alive, and that his wife knew or thought he was. I can't really explain why I thought that, even though it made little sense. I'm so sad for Eric and his family, and glad they can at least lay Eric to rest.
Since they managed to last about 5 days in the car, they were somewhat prepared. And then she was able to find a cabin, which confused the heck out of me...too bad they both didn't discover this cabin. My guess is he left and set off in a different direction from where the cabin was. What a horrible death. In these situations, by time a person sets off on foot, he’s totally spent from lack of nutrition, fluids, heat, imo. Not to mention the fear.
If nothing else, I hope people in cold climates learn from this and parents of younger drivers stress the importance of being prepared.
