That poor little girl. Where the #@!* are her parents? I think her parents should be charged for negligence also. Who the heck has a pregnant ten year old and doesn't realize that something is wrong? I tried to find an email contact at the news site to see if they would change the headline. That's just nasty. I'll look again today when I have more time. Taxi - let me know if you find that email! I looked and could not find one for the paper or the person who wrote the article (I think it was staff). It would do good to bombard that paper for being so stupid and for implying that there may be some sort of defense for this. I think the guy should be publically whipped, tied to a lampost on a street corner with a sign on that says what he did and people allowed to do whatever, when they walk by!

If he was not a relative, I'll bet he was a friend of the family.:furious:

Count me in! There's no allegedly about it! 10 is way too young to give consent and I doubt if she would pick a 37 year old man if it was legal at her age.

I didn't see anything in the article that suggested that the pregnancy was unknown to family. She may end up in foster care as well.

A better headline would have been "Raped 10-year old gives birth, man charged" or something to that effect. By using the word "allegedly" you imply that the 10-year old may have consented to sex. This is LEGALLY impossible and calls this young girl's reputation into question. SHE is 10, there is absolutely no way her character should be bought into question regarding this horrendous crime that was perpetrated against her.

I would hope that in the future you would give more thought to your headlines and what they imply! Very disappointing and I believe you owe this little girl an apology!

I too was appalled at the "allegedly" part but I think its a liability issue for the paper.
Not that the girl was "allegedly" raped but that this particular man was the one who did it.
IMO that was the reason for the use of the word allegedly.

Even still it was poorly written as Salem's email points out it implies that somehow the alleged part is the raping of the 10 year old rather then alleging who is being accused.

I think the article title confused the nouns. We know that she was raped. However, the guy arrested allegedly raped her. He is innocent until proven guilty - so the media can't say he raped her. They need to do their wording a lot better.

I'll drive:furious: And I was saying the very same thing about "where were her parents?" I'd have personally made sure that any such pregnancy of my 10 YO were aborted immediately. Aweful, I agree that they should eb charged with some sort of negligence!! A C-seciton at 10 YO???? Hell no! Somebody else besides the pervert needs to answer to this!
