I for the life of me can't imagine how the parents (if there were a set of parents) didn't notice the change in their little girl. It didn't mention the size of the child, but I would think a 10 yr old surely would have a significant weight gain carrying a baby inside. Why was this child so uncomfortable to tell she was raped? Makes me think it might be a family member wanting to keep her quiet. Talk about a baby having a baby!

My youngest DD is 10 and I sat there staring at her little body last night thinking...how in the hell could somebody that size carry a baby?? Made me so freaking sad/mad/enraged to think of somebody doing that to that poor baby.

 Awesome job, people! I just clicked on the original link and today it reads:

"10-year-old gives birth; man charged with rape"

Hey Guys! I've heard from the paper already and they are going to change the headline :)

Here's what Ms. Simoens says:

"You make a great point! Robyn actually has nothing to do with that headline...it's the web producer who added that. I'll get him to change it.
Thanks for writing."

Now I have to send her a thank you!

Salem

Oh it feels good to be instrumental in even in such a small thing (especially with all the bad stuff that is going on). This little girl needs all the love and support she can get, and while she probably will never know about the original headline (I hope that someone is protecting her from the public outcry) at least the headline won't put forth that "character" question anymore. Words are powerful, and we must all take care how we use them (typed by a person who is definitely NOT known for her tackfulness )

Just think...if were not for the members of WebSleuths, that headline would have remained that way forever. What a wonderful reminder of why we are all here! These moments make me so proud of how this forum has become over the many years (almost a decade) that I have watched this place.

In the article, it states "We had good information from witnesses"...regarding the arrest. So, some people knew she was raped (maybe pregnant too) and did nothing at all...until now?

Nice job, Salem! I had just finished my email but got interrupted before sending it. Thank goodness I didn't send it to all those people after it was fixed!

Thanks to Salem and anyone else that emailed them. :woohoo: You guys totally rock! And so does that station for changing that so quickly. That says a lot about them. :woohoo:

Now, if we could only REALLY drive down there and take care of this PERVERT.....

What a sad story. I feel terrible for that little girl. And imagine it being an illegal! So, he'll probably end up in a U.S. jail and we'll be supporting him.

Where was the mother? There's no way she didn't know this child was pregnant or something was wrong. She should be charged and the child taken out of the home.

Just a sad situation all around.

Kudos to you too! And everyone else who sent an email. We couldn't have done it without you, cuz, for me anyway, I couldn't find the email.

I know of a girl in my hometown who had her first child at 10 -- and had four by 16. All different fathers as well -- all well over 18 too (thinking the first one was like 25). Her parents KNEW she was pregnant -- matter of fact that was what caused their divorce. But they figured that she got herself into the mess and she'd have to deal with it. CPS never came one time to investigate or even speak to anyone about it. Thus, this sadly doesn't suprise me at all.... It makes me mad as all you-know-what, but it doesn't surprise me at all. Hopefully for this girl someone will start looking out for her and she and her baby will get the care they both need and deserve.

Did anyone else notice that yet again this is another "undocumented" alien living in the US?

I'm glad to see the story headline was changed as well. It never ceases to amaze me just how badly worded things are getting these days in the media.

Ooh, this burns me up! I'm glad the headline was changed, yay for you guys for writing!

I have twin 10 year old girls, they're big (tall and not real thin) but there's no way either of them could hide a BABY in there! Someone had to know.

That poor, poor, girl!

Do you know what ever happened to this girl who had all of those children? I hope that her life turned out better than I am imagining it did. :(

Sort-of. I was a classmate of her brother, who committed suicide by walking in front of a train. After that, they kinda disappeared for a while (she only had two then). They either moved back or something, but when she came back she had four. I've not lived in my hometown in nearly 10 years, but I would imagine that she's fine or else I would have heard from my brother who knows that whole group of people well.

I would think that gives a pretty good picture of what her life was like-how sure was everyone in your home town that her children were by different fathers???
