Local update: MM was at the women’s detention center everyday this week. But what’s noteworthy is Wednesday JP was also there with him. Also, still have quiet a bit of ribbons left up from last year when they were hung up in town.

Moved to just a weekly update because a couple people felt my updates were a lot. No hard feelings from me, just hope to keep everyone in the loop of what’s happening in town. If there’s a request for daily updates I’ll switch back.

I made such a wisecrack awhile ago, but it was only intended to poke fun at MM's daily visiting habit. I'm sorry if it sounded as though I didn't appreciate the daily updates or the willingness of @SleuthD-o-doubleg to observe – because I do!

I noticed in the article that Wood is a Madison County attorney. Isn't this taking place in Fremont County? Why not a Fremont County DA?

As I understand it, and someone correct me if I'm wrong, but even though Chad's property is in Salem, Idaho (Fremont County), Lori Vallow and the children had been living in Rexburg (Madison County) at the time when the children were reported missing. Therefore Madison County has jurisdiction in the missing children case.

It’s hard to say. When our cases were lower, jury duty opened back up. My sil was sent a paper for it. But cases have gone up so they aren’t doing anything with the notices currently. Not sure as to when that will proceed. However, our cases are definitely not as bad as they have been in the past. I think things here will continue to fluctuate for a bit since the current semester is about to end at BYUI (a new one will start about a week after this one ends) and weather is warming up.

It looks like Rachel Smith was referred to Wood by the PR firm (Vera Causa Group) he hired last year. She worked under one of the firm's founders, who was St Louis Circuit Attorney at the time, for 16 years.

IIRC, Lori Hellis is in the process of writing a book about this case. I like her legal analysis.

She’s got a Lori Vallow community going over on Reddit. The discussion there tends to run a week or more behind this thread. People wait for her to report everything instead of keeping up on their own.

I just thought since they are being tried together maybe there’s some big defense attorney wanting the attention of the trial. But if the attorney is well known, why would he/she even be interested?

Maybe an attorney will give us an opinion?

eta: Maybe both defense attorneys now feel the defendants need an experienced criminal attorney, and they are getting out? We can hope serious charges are coming.

I’m bitter. I acknowledge that. But please, let me know when all the legal fancy footwork and wrangling restores life to the two precious young people who were destroyed.
